The two main things you need to keep in mind are the retaliation shots and the changing attacks. For the retaliation, always try to avoid standing to its sides. Be careful with knockback or anything that turns it around. Usually it's best to go for backstabs to speed up fights, but for crater maker I think it's better to just stay in front, at least when you're starting out. That'll help keep things more predictable. The second thing is to plan ahead with the changing attacks, the cycle is always the same between the nuke, the consume, the creep wave, and the charge. Ideal scenario is the consume, because that only hits one tile. Obviously, you'll want to avoid the one tile, but that still leaves two spots for melee attackers. It's definitely worth counting up your attacks to figure out what to use, if you have weaker attacks you might want to avoid using them at all so later better attacks can be used without cycling to a bad move. If you mess up and land on something that's not consume, just try to cycle to wave or charge and move cats out of the attack, whatever you do you don't want it to use the nuke because that hits everyone and can stun.
