Assuming it gets at least a month before the cutoff of the quarter when the million seller list is tallied, I think at least 7M. Zelda games never used to sell many copies but since BotW it's actually a premiere franchise now that people genuinely care about.

>>73608479310 years ago they could have made a great Wii U level remake without messing it up. Today they can't make it without messing it up.Why? Because every game Nintendo has made since Furukawa got in charge has been corposlop. They started using focus groups a lot more, and they test the waters on "what else is out there that gamers like". They started doing the same shit Sonic started doing post-Dreamcast where they whore out the brand to different trends on the market. 1 game it's trying to be Jak 2. 1 game it's trying to be Mario Galaxy. 1 game it's trying to be 3D World. 1 game it's trying to be Open World.Ocarina of Time Remake will be an over engineered game. It will have the "iconic moments" in between a lot of systems bloat, an over-standardized narrative presentation and graphics that look interchangable with 3D Gachaslop. It's gonna have fans but there will be a frustrating rift between people who actually know what "Ocarina of Time" was, and those who associate it with the remake, which of ended up being nothing like the original in spirit.

>>736088067>Has new assets>New gameplay mechanics >New world to explore>New dungeons >New bosses >new plotHow is this not an original game? Be specific.
it's just going to be OoT but in the BOTW/TOTK engine (minus ultrahand/physics mechanics). It's going to be the map of OoT, but with the cel-shaded art style of BOTW, with BOTW combat system (no more z-targeting) so that it doesn't alienate the kiddos who got started with BOTW (aka, the new demographic, because nintendo knows boomers will buy an OoT remake on nostalgia alone)
>>736088298>with BOTW combat system (no more z-targeting)I thought BOTW had targeting?
>>736088330it has lock-on, but it functions differently in terms of the combat system. z-targeting (along with directional input) would change your attacks. BOTW doesn't do that, every weapon type just has it's generic moveset, and that's it.
>>736084793It will be made by people and developers that don't even like ocarina of time, so why should I expect it to be good? Everytime Aonuma gets asked about it in interviews, he shits on it and says its "outdated"

Knowing Nintendo, it will probably be something like a 3DS remaster.
>>736095552https://www.shipofharkinian.com/setup-guide>original ROMhttps://files.catbox.moe/ibpry6.z64Have fun!
>>736084793I'm just waiting on the Recomp might eventually play the 3DS version while I wait. The remake probably won't be as good unless they don't change most things besides graphics and controls, but I probably won't play it until Switch 2 emulation becomes viable.
I really don't see how you could remake this game, unless they're going to completely throw out the existing gameplay and make essentially an entirely new game with the same storyline and setpieces. In other words, you still go to all the same dungeons, but they're only the same in name and aesthetics and they have completely new layouts, and the game has completely new mechanics. Just using the same Z-Targeting system and forced switching to 1st-person to aim the bow while being unable to move after games like BotW would just feel way too weird.
>>736097289the thing it that it's plausible they could go either way on it. they could totally modernize all sorts of stuff or they could go slavishly faithful down to all the control scheme stuffI dunno if there are other remakes to compare to to get an idea for what's plausible. I guess Metroid Prime 1 remake they changed the controls a lot and made it proper dual stick fps controls instead of the original lockon style, although it was optional and you could play it with original controls if you wanted. Paper Mario TTYD changed smaller things, and they also made it 30fps which changed a lot of the timings involved. Yeah who knows
They can do whatever the fuck they want with it, we have ship of harkinian carrying OoT forward.
>>736097579Both of those strike me more as remasters than proper remakes (they're the exact same game with a new coat of paint). Remake implies they are making the game again from scratch, like the RE remakes or FF7. OoT already had a Metroid Prime/TTYD-style remaster on the 3DS, which Nintendo could just port to the Switch 2 and bundle with MM3D if they wanted easy money. I don't see any point in remaking it if they're going to keep the same gameplay mechanics because they would feel needlessly restrictive in a modern game.
>>736097773maybe link's awakening remake is a better comparison
>>736097867LA is one of my favorite games of all time and I refuse to play the remake because they absolutely butchered the visuals and completely ruined the atmosphere, if they do that to OoT there's no way in hell I'm touching it.
>>736097928I mean yeah that's usually what happens in these situations. Surely that's what you're expecting then considering what happened to LA
>>736098013They have no reason to do that to OoT because it's already in 3D and they already refined its aesthetic with the 3DS version. It isn't like LA where they have room to misinterpret the art style because they took the sprites literally.
>>736098106yeah but what are you expecting them to do in reality, even if you think it would be stupid of them to do it
>>736098172I guess something similar to the FF7 remake but without the storyline fuckery.
It's going to be shit. They just could help but to pull a Wind Waker when it came to Link's Awakening, they will do the remake for even worse. Especially now since the BotKverse sold so much that every game unrelated to Zelda became it.
>>736098690ff7 was a turn based rpg game that they turned into an action gamedoes that mean you think they'll turn oot which was an action game into a turn based rpg
>>736099168Yes
>>736098106I'm expecting them to change it to botw graphics at the least. Oot is vintage 3d, not botw-3d.
>>736099262that sounds kinda lame, I dunno. There isn't enough stuff in oot to make for a good turn based rpg
>>736099336I don't think they'd do that, each Zelda era has always had its own art style. They'd probably just take the art style of the 3DS version and refine it further.
>>736099336>>736099491I don't think they'd turn it into botw graphics. They're gonna pick some weird graphical style they haven't done before, like how WW was initially unique, and TP was initially unique, and botw was initially unique, and the grezzo game was initially unique
>>736099589>They're gonna pick some weird graphical style they haven't done beforeThey only do that when they're introducing a new Link, they wouldn't do that for revisiting an old Link's story.
>>736099660I think LA remake disproves that
>>736099703That's an exception because they were taking a 160p GameBoy game and making an HD 3D game out of it. A sane person would have modeled it off of the official artwork for the original and not the literal sprite graphics, but whoever they outsourced it to was retarded so they 3D modeled everything with sprite proprotions instead.
>>736099824I mean Nintendo rubber stamped it, you can't get anything made with Nintendo IP unless they approve of it
>>736084793They would have to give it a completely different art style similar to how Link's awakening was remade, otherwise it's just a soulless imitation
>>736099491I'm sorry to be the one breaking it to you but that's delusionally hopeful. Oot graphics look ´dated´ to a modern audience that has the Switch 2™. It's delusional to think they'd keep n64-style. I know, I mean, they didn't keep LA graphics. You're making up reasons why it isn't the same with LA and LA was totally different (LOL) which is the first stage of denial. So as anon said they could be preparing for the next Zelda and make a new style (somewhat likely) but honestly, they'll go with the botw engine (very likely).
>>736096286tardtakepost broccoli head
>>736099949I doubt the main Zelda team had much creative say/oversight on it, that soulless piece of slop was purely a business move.>>736100045>Oot graphics look ´dated´ to a modern audienceArt style and graphics aren't the same thing. There's absolutely no reason they can't keep the same art style while making a game with modern graphical fidelity. See MGS3 Delta.

Also probably not>Will it win awards at the game awards?Possibly, depending on how good the movie coming out is (read: how much money it makes)>How many copies will it sell in its first quarter? They are clearly trying to tie this into the film's release so the hype of that and it being a remake of reddit's #1 game ever could put it pretty high on the charts.
>>736100697It really triggers you that OoT is better than your favorite slop games huh?
Nintendo finally hired that man?
I genuinely want for them to go balls to the wall and completely remake it from scratch while trying to expand it out as much as possible. Not because I think this would be a good idea, I think the original OOT is basically as close to a flawless game as you can get. Rather, I just want to see what they could even do with that even if it ends up being total shit. Maybe it'll even be good. Maybe it'll even be great. I just want to see it. The original game's always there so even if they totally fuck it up it'll just be something to laugh at.
>>736101805I'm expecting regular dungeons and item progression from the original, but hyrule field will be greatly expanded and be like a mini-botw you can run around and explore in between
I'm optimistic, at least. It's unnecessary to be sure, but it might be neat, and they might have Master Quest and Boss Rush from the 3ds version. And another rumor has popped up that it'll be released with a special edition Switch 2, and I've been waiting for that.
The fact that so many video game critics still name Ocarina of Time as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" video game ever only tells you how far video games still are from becoming a serious art. Film critics have long recognized that the greatest films of all times are Citizen Kane and The Birth of a Nation, which were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Literature critics rank the highly controversial Joyce's Ulysses over classical novels which were highly popular in libraries around Europe. Video games critics are still blinded by commercial success. Ocarina of Time invented lock-on (not true, by the way), therefore it must have been the greatest. Film critics grow up watching a lot of films of the past, literature critics grow up reading a lot of classical books of the past. Video game critics are often totally ignorant of the video games of the past, they barely know the Nintendo games. No wonder they will think that Ocarina did anything worthy of being saved.

Not a single mention of Monolith Soft ITT?I bet they’re the ones doing “their” take on OoT as a remake. The interview a few months ago had Nintendo basically say in their coy manner “hehe wouldn’t it be wild if you did a Zelda game?”

>>736103383Basically someone DMed various outlets and was apparently reputable enough for it to be claimed as valid.
I just pray they don't include degrading weapons.
Just saying, whoever posted this earlier, I really appreciate the idea you had for OoT2.Sadly, I can never see them do anything like this for a Zelda game ever again. The design philsophy has to be "open and you can solve anything in any possible way".A stress of a timelimit would not fly nowadays with "modern audiences".
