Did you know that the SF3 in the Star Force Perfect Collection required the code to be rewritten from scratch?
>>
>>736086904
Only reason I'm kinda thinking about getting this collection is that I know its a little bit more involved then the previous rom bundles.

I'm just not in the mood to play megaman games right now.

how long would it take me to complete the 3 games (no alt version) at an average pace and blind ?
I like the low price, I wonder if the story is interesting or too 12 y.o oriented
Also is there any replay-value or good side quests ?

Luna is Geo’s romantic interest
Sonia is Geo’s sidekick, aka Roll
Bud is Geo’s other sidekick, aka Rush
I thought the games made this distinction very clear

To rewrite code from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

The game gives you the option to pick who you have a romantic scene with between the two in SF3. And from her introduction in SF1, Sonia is portrayed as a romantic interest for Geo, similar to Harp for Omega-xis.
>>

Since I havent played SF1 in a decade at least I am impressed how well the first game story was done, all the characters had genuine human issues a lot of people can relate to, compared to the start of the BN series where all the antagonists were just WWW members being comically evil most of the time (I do like speedy dave arc in BN2 though) its clear they improved in the storytelling over time.

It doesn't. SF3 just has a scene where you can pick to have a romantic event with Sonia, Luna or neither of them.

I guess that make's Zack Geo's Auto
>>
BN1, BN2, BN3, SF1 and SF3 are good RPGs.
BN6 has fantastic gameplay but a really bad single player campaign.
BN5 has a bad chip library and very little content because it focuses so hard on the SRPG gimmick, which isn't very fun if you like SRPGs already.
BN4 and SF2 are both messes and I'm not sure which is worse.
>>
>>736087031
I'm waiting for a price drop myself. I think they did a nice job overall but it's still too expensive for roms I already played and can still play now for free.
>>
>>736092253
>BN4 and SF2 are both messes and I'm not sure which is worse.
Playing through SF2 for the first time on the LC rn
Idk if the LC corrected stuff that made the original bad but I'm really not having a bad time with this game, BN4 is worse by far imo
>>
>>736092193
I dont know why they didn’t add that then. Its in my copy of the legacy collection. Luna wont let me leave the house.
>>
>>736091916

>BN4 and SF2 is a “mess” despite having some of the most fun gameplay
You hyperbole “pacing” fags need to kys. Everyone knows the games have flaws and it is also incredibly clear how much you faggots exaggerate them.

>>736092345
The only bad thing about sf2 is the random encounter. If he brings up the story tell him to kill himself because it is exceedingly clear that story is not the focus of any of these games. To be frank anyone who calls a game bad because of its story is just a larping normalfag subhuman comparing games to their favorite capeshit movie franchise.

The fact that you don't get a proper dungeon until Loch Mess is pretty bad imo.
The way it handles the Wave World is also worse than both 1 and 3's imo.
And the Loch Mess and Whazzap dungeons are both really shit.
And the copy pasted SF1 bosses are implemented pretty poorly. Cancer Bubble in particular is egregious.

It's got plenty of problems if we're actually going to talk about it instead of making weird strawman arguments.

So what's the part of this game you actually like?

You're insulting people who say they don't like the game, I assume you like it.
But you also say criticizing the story is retarded, and fair enough, it's shit, just skip the cutscenes if you don't like it.
But you also say not to criticize the pacing because it doesn't matter. I think the game forcing you to run back and forth constantly in service of the story is bad, but you don't think it's worth criticism, so I guess you don't care about these sections either.
But you also say the encounter rate is too high. Since you don't care about pacing, it sounds like the issue is the encounters themselves and you don't want to engage with them.
But you also don't see a problem with half the game not having dungeons, nor do you have strong opinions about the ones that exist. So you're not engaged with that.
But you also don't have any strong opinions on the Wave World, which functions differently in all three games.

So what's the part you enjoy? Because you've either been dismissive or deferred to me on nearly every single element of the game. If you feel this strongly, clearly there's something you care deeply about. Or you're just trying to make me give you enough rope to keep and endless (You) chain going.

You’re criticizing the “pacing” in a series where backtracking is constant, especially if you do sidequests, and you explore like 4-5 areas divided between the net/wave world and real world.
Of course I am going to find your arguments fucking ridiculous even if its worse in Bn4 due to the way newgame+ works. Like its fine to hate the flaw of a game its another to refer it as if it was unplayable or bad compared to the others in a series then imply your opinion is fact.
>But you also say the encounter rate is too high.
I actually have zero issues with the encounter rate and I don’t even turn it off. When it gets too much for me I use the ingame functions to reduce them and I am not referring about the collections assist mode. I only mention the encounter rate because I can recognize this can be annoying to some people, therefore I state it as a flaw, because I know sf2 encounter rate is very high. Like others in the thread have mentioned tho, this issue is exaggerated when the legacy collection has features that literally tackle this “problem” head on if it is a problem for you.
>But you also don't see a problem with half the game not having dungeons, nor do you have strong opinions about the ones that exist.
You literally didn’t say ANYTHING about any of this not a single detail. You didn’t even mentioned how areas in sf2 differed in sf1 or how many more “dungeons” sf1 has over sf2. You do not even go into details about puzzles or shitty minigames to compare the two.
You want to know my “strong opinion” on these? I felt about the same exploring areas in sf2 as i did in sf1. I was far more invested in the combat. This is why your sweeping generalizations are a fucking eyesore to me.
>>
>>736093563
>Why don’t you tell me how this isn’t a lie when a character that is introduced in sf2 appears in sf3
Easy thing to explain.
>with the same motivations he had in sf2
Extremely specific caveat designed to get me to not bring up Sean.

Still gonna do it, though. Because BN3 doesn't give a single shit if you missed 2 and gives you very little context for Sean, and aside from this blip the game basically ignored BN2 even happened. You don't need to play BN2 to understand BN3. Same deal for SF3. Source: When I was a kid I missed BN2 but played 1 & 3-6, and I only played SF3. I didn't have trouble with this because I wasn't fucking retarded. I think people should play BN2 and should try SF2 to make their own mind up about it, but I'm not gonna pretend SF3 gives much time or thought to SF2. You get two returning characters who you can glean enough context clues from to understand, but most of the returning content is stuff established in 1. The devs even put optional notes in the game to catch you up! They wanted it to be accessible to new players!

Your complaint:
>You literally didn’t say ANYTHING about any of this not a single detail. You didn’t even mentioned how areas in sf2 differed in sf1 or how many more “dungeons” sf1 has over sf2. You do not even go into details about puzzles or shitty minigames to compare the two.
Meanwhile, the SINGLE thing you could even interpret as positive about the game.
>I was far more invested in the combat.
It's not even a value statement. You just said you cared about it more than another part.

Like, let's be real. I gave an opinion. Your response was "Kys faggot, wrong, you're exaggerating, also the only problem with the game is the encounters and if you dislike THIS THING you're retarded!"
So I gave you other things I disliked.
And you just
>Why?
'd me instead of talking about the game.
So I asked you which parts of the game you actually like.

And now we're here, where you refuse to actually talk about your opinion on the game even to the level you criticized me for. Because you don't want to give your opinion. You want me to give you rope so you can latch on to the semantics of what I say without the vulnerability of discussing how you feel. You either have a conversation or you don't, I'm not playing 20 Questions with your ass.

I told you how i felt about “the other parts of the game” by saying it was no different in sf1 to sf2 to me. The only part worth mentioning was the combat and the transformations. I criticized your sweeping generalizations because you said nothing in detail about them and you still havent. The “pacing” everyone likes to retort about like a baboon is about the same in every single bn or sf game, constant backtracking, annoying sidequests, the works. I have no strong opinion about it.
The dungeons are just fucking mazes with a minigame in them, so what if sf2 has like 2 less of them? You already get a shitton of areas to explore that are just as maze-like. This is such a minor detail to me that I didn’t even fucking remember it only had 3 dungeons.
These games are mainly played for the combat, the exploration and the boss fights. I think most can agree with this. Your post doesn’t touch on any of those details. And no exploration is not just “dungeons” anon.

Its right at the beginning of the post.
I’ve already clarified enough for you plenty of times without you ever backing up your argument at least once like I initially asked you too. Wanna keep up the (you) chain with baseless ad hominems or exaggerations about how shit bn4 and sf2 are?

>>
>>736098442
I have. The writing is pretty good and not cliche. Its memorable and doesn’t really have any bad main characters. It really felt like the star force minigame was there to pad out game time between the heavily scripted story events that had a lot of effort and soul put into them.

This guy is literally just saying BN4 and SF2 are “messes”. Ok so now I'm convinced you're actually autistic. I'm gonna lay this out literally since you can't read social cues.

If you tell someone their opinion is wrong but a topic is worthless as criticism, you are implicitly saying "I want a discussion, but here are my parameters." If someone says "Ok, but I also think this because of these things," they are offering you topics. When you just ask them to explain further and insult them for it, you are signalling that you won't discuss these topics. So if the person tries to change the parameters, like asking what you like, they're acknowledging your strong opinion but shifting the parameters to make you more comfortable giving an opinion.

Ignoring that aside from a throwaway, literal acknowledgement of not disliking things or preferring one thing to another is essentially "I refuse to discuss, fuck you." If you want a discussion, you have to put an actual opinion out. Something like
>I like Plesio Surf as a boss bc blah blah blah
or
>The Tribe System is great bc blah blah blah
or
>I like 2's Wave World System bc blah blah blah

That gives the other person a point of reference to speak from, and then you can actually compare ideas and get into why you both feel how you do. Instead you're bitching that the other person isn't doing all the work of the conversation. You're acting like a huge ass.

>I want a discussion, but here are my parameters
This is what you have been doing from the start.
>So if the person tries to change the parameters, like asking what you like, they're acknowledging your strong opinion but shifting the parameters to make you more comfortable giving an opinion.
You didn’t acknowledge anything you simply shifted the goalpost. You didn’t even explain any of your points aside from saying things like “x thing was bad”.
>If you want a discussion, you have to put an actual opinion out. Something like
Quite literally what I asked of you from the start before you shifted the goalpost.
Why didn’t I detail what I liked about the combat? Because it was quite literally the only thing you didn’t criticize funnily enough.
Heres your original post by the way.
>>736093168

>>736093474
I asked you why on each because like you mentioned yourself in this very post I am replying to, you wanted discussion but you didn’t give any sort of basis for it. You disliked cancer bubble? Okay why what was different about cancer bubble in 2 vs 1.
Before you blame anyone about autism or call them antisocial, maybe fact check your own details.
>>
>>736100017
But you literally are saying I hate it just because. You can’t get angry at someone if you can’t backup your own arguments

Is hair of this magnitude even possible irl?
>>
>>736102863
No.
Not because the hairstyle is impossible, but because a 12 year old cannot possibly have enough hair to do it. I don't think it's actually possible to have drills that big unless you go 30 years without cutting it.
>>
2-0

never let them forget it
>>
>>736103680
Even without cutting, hair eventually falls (not because of hair loss, just because it happens), so your hair length will stagnate at some point
Saying that as a dude who didn't cut their hair for 15 years, it stagnated after 5 years and stayed the same length until I got tired of it
If you don't wash or brush your hair, they won't really fall that much since they'll just stay and make knots, so I guess yeah if you're dirty as fuck you could get Luna's haircut eventually
>>

The biggest character development Luna could have would be to lose her drills
Her drills only existed to parallel the hood in Queen Ophiuca's design
Since the devs are doing their best to bury Ophiuca altogether and make that no longer a part of Luna's character, she should just lose the drills altogether. It would also tie in well with her moving away from being a stuck-up rich brat and have her actually start to be her own person.

Just brute force the main story, the last moments at the end of the WWW base makes up for it, and sets up something very, very important for the rest of the series.

BN1 has a lot of optional content you can just ignore. If you need better chips you can save scum the chip trader for good stuff like Knight Sword, Hero Sword, Gaia 3, Big Wave.
C code is a good code to use usually.
If you're playing Legacy Collection, you can get the Bass chip for free once, and then receive duplicates from the chip trader.

I really hope we get a proper 3D remake of a BN or Star force game someday in the near future. They did a decent job with the menu maps and everything. Luna was probably a "yai" in very early concepts but not in the actual final game, she's meant to be a love interest since the first one but its meant to be a long burn like geo's dad.

you see geo's dad since the first game but he doesn't actually come back until the third, with luna every game adds to her relationship with geo
>rocky start in the first one but they're friends by the end

>schizoposting
capcom recompiled the games instead of using emulation this time. unless it was really lazily automated, all the assembly hacking done for the DS hack will have to be redone from scratch.
and directly modifying the game code won't be possible until denuvo is removed from the game - not bypassed with a hypervisor or keygen, but actually removed by capcom. but maybe all the hacking can be done in memory at runtime.
>>
>>736124947
My understanding is the original DS ROMs are in there, but they're not using a traditional emulator.
They're using a static recompilation method that integrates with their RE Engine, so it's more that the games are running natively and using the ROMs as asset sources for graphics, audio, models, and text. Maybe also program to an extent but that part likely did get extensively re-written.

If the DS ROMs are in there in an extractable state, don't expect them to be that much different from the original releases.
The GBA ROMs for the MMBN Legacy Collection are intact as "rom.srl" files, and are largely the same as the original Japanese and international releases.
Part of that is that the games use the Japanese ROMs as the foundation for gameplay and program, and use the scripts from the international ROMs for text injection.
It's why visiting the Ura Inn in MMBN3 has very obviously different graphics, why MMBN2's infamous Prism SeedBomb glitch is intact (deliberately so in fact, and deliberately disabled for PvP), and also why there was a bug with one of the virus battler rewards for MMBN6 since they were tied to the scripts, and the scripts changed between the JP and international releases.

Said script changes also seem to be why there are progression / exploration bugs present in SF3 that are rectified by switching to the Japanese or Chinese language versions, and then switching back to English.

I hated DMC2. Not because it's the popular opinion, but it's because I played to DMD. I can tell you that this piece of shit is the most BORING boss in action game history. At least Flame Hyenard from X7 was funny. But this fish is so boring because you have to deal with underwater controls and shit camera. And if you're playing DMD like a true gamer, then you can't lock-on to him. Good luck fighting him with normal Trish. It will test your patience. I can understand liking Bayo2 and LOS2 as I also like those games, but DMC2 is pretty bad.

Nero was fine. He's not Dante's replacement, and the game makes that very clear. Nero fails at killing boss demons, gets beat up by Dante and Dante has to save his ass. Even in DMC5, Dante has to save Nero's ass even though he's way more competent and cooler in 5. In 5, Dante stops giving a shit since the stakes kinda die down after Urizen, and Vergil just wanted to have a fight with Dante. Dante's still the face of the franchise, and it'll probably remain that way since Kamiya has a professional relationship with Capcom.

If you want to see a Nero handled badly, look at NG4 or Bayo 3. Platinum doesn't get that a Nero isn't meant to be the replacement. Nero is meant to be the third-in-command of the sentai team.

Iris lost because she wasn't figting a normal MegaMan. The was up against the god of war... A BEAST!

Post your Xbox gamertag. I still keep mine hooked up for Ninja Gaiden 2 and Lost Odyssey.

do you think there's a chance they'll port this
>>
>>736131018
No fucking way. Not unless they change the random encounters and flesh out the ending.

Ridiculous to me that the Megaman collection Capcom put the most effort into by far is the one with the worst gameplay and story.
I mean good job but Battle Network 4 couldve used a retranslation
>>

Yeah, hasn't Street Fighter been cross platform since V?

Genuinely didn't know Xbox still gets Capcom games lel

Maybe on virtual console but it's still the most solid of the 3 PS2 games.

Iris wasn't trying hard enough.

Reminder that you're wrong just by virtue of the X Collection being split in 2, the second X Collection most definitely deserves the prize of the worst one.

She was sitting inside a cushioned ride armor. That's less her durability and more the ride armor.

What a fag. Total skillet. Can't make a folder in BN5 and blames the game. Calls BN6 good when it has auto aim and single ship screen wipes.
Sad.

Guys, I'm playing legacy collection 2 and why are the games so fucking bad?
>>
>>736132149
Because it's the worst collection
>>
>>736132149
Ironically X7 and 8 work better in the legacy collection.

>play some PVP to get brothers

So brother profile pics from SF2 or SF3 appear in SF1? That's neat.

I'm fine with him being depressed for losing his father but the way he acted because of Pat was weird. He was acting like Tom Dubius for no reason. It makes total sense that aliens that want to destroy earth will try to be his friend and stab him in the back.

Shanghai is legitimately better than any game Capcom has ever made.

It's called backsliding, someone like Geo who really only just started forming bonds with people again after shutting himself off from the world for as long as he did reacting like that isn't too unexpected

Why did iris die? I thought she was a support reploid. Couldn’t they have repaired her and reactivated her like they did X and Zero a ton of times?

>why are the games so fucking bad?
X3 was kind of as far as you could go with the X formula without doing something radically new. The problem is that they never figured out what that "new" was.
X4 played it very safe with X, and was largely saved by Zero being baller to play.

X5 is where things start to fall apart. They leaned into the double hero shit, started fucking around with armors, started fucking around with the level system, made a modules system which was worse than just a straight up shop like 8, and the less said about story, the better.
X6 was them basically trying to mash parts of X5 together better, which worked better in some ways (modules tied to saved reploids, multiple paths to fortress) and much worse in others (perma death reploids, still nonsense armors)

X7 I actually commend them for, despite being a piece of shit broken game, because they were meaningfully trying to evolve the X franchise. More world building, hybrid 2d/2.5d/3d gameplay, character swaps, giving zero weapons, and trying out a new character. Also if you put aside the memes X is 100% justified in not wanting to get involved with Red's bullshit.

X8 is a regression because they gave up on 3d, but also they don't really have anything much better. They finally just did a shop like MM8, made a 2D engine that was worse than the original, fucked with everyone's designs, and had the most retarded story since X5. At least, though, it is fun.

tl;dr X is supposed to be about evolution but they couldn't figure out how to evolve the games past X2/3 and adding Zero in X4.

>Why did iris die?
Fused with her brother's core then tried murdering Zero even though the reason she and her brother existed was because their core personalities were so incompatible that the original reploid they were suppose to be didn't work. Went maverick, bugged out, then broke.
>Couldn’t they have repaired her and reactivated her like they did X and Zero a ton of times
In a sense of irony she was part of an operation that led to making it illegal to revive reploids after they "died". Even if she were brought back she'd still be acting maverick.
>>
>>736133238
Zero was a maverick too

>>
>>736133392
Dark Luna was a maverick too
>>
>>736133378
They had the tech to revert her to a restore point pre-maverick tho. They often would capture mavericks and reprogram them as shown in the maverick hunter ova. Why else would they have holding cells?

>>736133487
Dark Luna is from a different timeline.
>>
>>736133937
To see if the virus they were infected with could be cured. Iris went maverick on her own and would have turned again because Colonel was dead. Even then the MHX ova would have taken place before the time where reviving reploids became illegal.

I still theorize that its the sigma virus that had awoken again at the end of legends 2. Since it predates even elysium amd apparently the master and his team had to work very hard to render that ancient system dormant again,
>>
>>736131135
They got good money from the battle network collection, so they could put more effort into this one
>>
>>736126030
No excuse not to buy the collection if the madlads pull it off.
Would be a completely definitive edition

You can change assist for a toggle instead so you don't need to keep pressing like a retard to run/change encounter.
