Zelda and Link as an item doesn’t have to be bad… but Fujibayashi’s take on it appeals to the same kinds of vapid women who made Twilight the biggest YA book series of it’s era. There’s a reason why so much of the male fandom do not think the later Zeldas are all that special amongst the women in the series.

You can even look at incidents like that Undertale cookie needle thing as examples of just how insane they are. Almost every single bad fandom story you ever read about is because of shippers. >>736095698I really dislike basically everything Fujibayashi's added to the mainline games. It's weird because when he worked on the handhelds they didn't have any of those issues. But he basically wrote over a ton of established lore while rewriting things just to try and make Link x Zelda a permanent thing. Golden Goddesses are rarely mentioned now, Demise kind of takes the punch of out Ganon's character, the Eastern elements really don't fit the series, etc.

It contradicts a lot of past games where they either had minimal interaction or Link had other love interests, and explains why Hylia is suddenly treated like the main god while the others get little to no billing anymore.
