I hate that my BULKmaxxing Defect (no feral, sadly) basically lost this fight purely due to my hands never lining up in phase 3.It was an honest deck. I gambled on feral showing up or the ? event in act 3 where you can remove exhaust from a card, and neither happened. I had no other obvious win condition. Rare instance where I was actually able to make use of kettlebell with tiny tent.

How do I stop being dogshit at this game? I'm 40 hours between the 1st and 2nd game, and have trouble with non ascension runs. I try to deal with lots of elites for relics but just end up worn down pretty quick.

Once you have built up your knowledge on what cards each character has you'll naturally start to take cards that synergize with one another, regardless of their rarity. At the start of the run pick you'll mostly pick your damage cards, and then start picking defense, energy and draw in that order. Generally the first cards you add generally shape the deck's "theme" because you'll always be thinking of what goes well with what you already have and what is lacking.Also while Elites are super good for rewards, try aiming for them on the later half of the act, so you're well-built when you face them. Only go for 4~ of you are completely sure your starting bonus+first card picks can handle that.
>>736141089your number one priority is campfires. A deck full of good unupgraded cards sucks. You want as many rest sites as possible, period. Your first card selections, unless a very powerful archetype card that isn't dependent on other cards is offered, should be cards that are flexible. You will probably end up skipping several card rewards in most act 1s. Shops are not high priority destinations, sometimes even when you have a lot of gold. Even though enemies scale faster than in sts1, you can be a little patient and focus on full blocking as many attacks as you can to avoid getting chipped down on your way to the boss and do as many upgrades instead of rests as possible. learn which archetypes are strongest for each character - that one should be done by playing for fun and not by looking at guides.
