What do you think of Metroid Fusion?
>>736124336I don't think about it
>>736124336I loved it and still own it physically, but it was my first Metroid game and looking back it feels linear. Still managed to beat it under 2 hours when I was a kid for that special screen.
>>736124336It's pretty good
kino, love the bosses
>>736124336>Accidentally triggered the last portion>Every door locks up>Can't backtrackFuck, welp off to Zero Mission, already completed Fusion on my 3ds
>>736124336Why does Samus still have her regular body if she's been mutated by Metroid DNA
>>736124336Better than I remembered when I replayed it four or five years ago. Tangentially, I just recently finished replaying Super for the first time since...a pretty fuckin' long time now that I think about it, and it's still fantastic. I did Zero Mission immediately beforehand, which used to be my favorite when I played it on GBA to the point I even did low % Hard mode runs--it did not live up to my nostalgia. Bosses are weaker than Fusion by a mile and it's barely any more open, and Fusion at least does interesting things with its level composition around the fact that it's more focused, like having layouts change around the wake of the SA-X's destruction and making you use a new ability to find a different, previously unavailable, way out.
>>736125030the chozo DNA? idk
>>736125030It was just a vaccine to the X infection made with Metroid DNA before the Dread retcons
Best Metroid game ez, but I guess I can see why people would prefer Super.Fusion is like Majora's Mask and Super is like Ocarina of Time
>>736126545I haven't played Dread. How did they retcon it?
>>736126608In Dread, the Metroid DNA IS actually a strong mutagen, but was kept at bay by the Chozo DNA inside Samus that specifically includes traces from the tribe that had the ability to control Metroids. But, it doesn't last for the course of Dread, and pic rel happens.
>enhances your kino
>>736124336Easy contender for best Metroid game along with Super
>>736124336fun/10 wish it weren't a gba game
>>736124336I played it again on NSO, it's nice but even more railroaded than I remember.
meh its okay
>>736124336Fun for a single run, but I never had any desire to play it again.
Ridley wasn't loud enough.
>>7361243365/5 bretty gud
>>736127539
>>736124336I have no opinion on the topic.
>>736124336
The SAX chase sequences gave me nightmares as a child. It was funny to replay the game and realize they were minor speedbumps to reaching the end
>>736124336loved it
Too linear and too much dialogue and words for a Metroid
>>736125030Space magic. She's like one with the suit and has different DNA in her, but she still looks totally normal.
>>736124336I liked it more than Zero Mission
>>736128669prime is exceptionally ass and boring. It strips the most fun parts of the 2d ones being traversal and fun bosses. Exploration is just staring at mundane shit with your visor and getting blobs of text shown at you that you couldn't be asked to care about because the enviroments aren't very interesting.
>>736124336Fun gameOne of my favorite of the gbaThis still remains one of the coolest moments
>>736124336love the right gameplay, harsh combat, level variety and intense plot. the ending gave me hope for the series but dread shat on it and the rest of the franchise with it's retarded retcons. hate that I wasted almost 20 years waiting for such a letdown of a game
>>736124336the zelda 2 of the seriesit's great
>>736124336It's my favorite one but I've never played Metroid. It just seems like it's a better Super Metroid, and GBA had lots of great nearquels
Was playing NEStroid through a Zero Mission ROM after beating it and noticed red missile doors stay unlocked after you open them once, even after loading in a password. Is that a thing in the NES game? I can't be arsed to go to the trouble of testing it out myself.
>>736130721Yes
I thought it was just nostalgia but replaying it was thoroughly enjoyable
>>736124336Best 2D Metroid
>>736124336I hope they remake it one day
>>736128669>nes metroid>exceptional
>>736132102It is
>>736124336Claustrophobic and easy to get stuck if you don't try random shit which is arguably bad design. I used a video guide to reach the RA achievement I was aiming for, but desu, even if I tried without video I'd still be like "that was dumb" after figuring it out.Atmosphere/storytelling are dope, bosses/most action parts are easy, but I get stuck on parts that require you do to a random thing to progress.
>>736124336My favorite metroid
>>736126753Please don't remind me that Dread exists, thanks.
>>736132542Dread exists, anon
you can tell the original Metroid was inspired by Alien because you never know if rounding the next corner will confront you with something fucking you in the face
>>736132454I would be mad if I got this on GBA without internet, dumb ass frustrating game, not because its hard, some parts require you to do senseless shit and most of the secrets are retarded as hell like go sonic-fast into this wall and try that everywhere. Dumb.Metroid (NES) had it right with the tall/wide screens. MF is just Claustrophobia : The Game. Something for masochists or crackheads.
>>736128669>Prime 2 and NEStroid not properly tiered For what purpose? Kind of a "more than the sum of their parts," hard to rate because of the ups and downs to them, sort of thing? Because I'd see that with both of those games for sure. Or is that basically A+ tier?
Fusion is the pinnacle of horror game sound design. A tiny dinky winky GBA soundchip produced some of gaming's most chilling ambiance tracks ever, and for a game that's E for everyone on top of that.Other than that, Fusion's just ok, too linear for my tastes but its still a fun game
>>736124336it's cool
>>736133180I didn't know until today when I was listening to some remixes that credited the original composers, none of Fusion's music was by the usual guy, Kenji Yamamoto. The composers still worked under him but the tracks themselves were done by his co-composer on SM, Minako Hamano (who incidentally did my favorite track, underwater Maridia), along with someone named Akira Fujiwara whose work at the company only spans about four years.
>>736132542I actually liked that about Dread, Samus finally showing the effects of her missions. Metroid as a whole needs more scars.
>>736132102i love this breast envy image so much
I don't mind the increased linearity of this and Dread because the moment-to-moment gameplay is pretty much perfect. Overall my favorite is still Zero Mission.
>>736124336it alright>>736124587God, I know how you feel. I gotta keep that in mind once I replay it.
It's really good for a first time playthrough and it has a great soundtrack and story. It loses major points for simply not being replayable. At least in Dread there's some big sequence breaks and you can skip through the Adam dialogue much faster.
Fusion is EASILY an S or A tier metroid. Any other ranking is flat out wrong
Metroid was pushing my shit in earlier but I can't help but be enticed to keep playing it. Just look at this poster. You telling me seeing this sick shit doesn't make you immediately want to play it? What, are you gay?
>>736135338I'm always being gaslit into playing Metroid then I remember all the room layouts cycle between like 4 or 5 unique configurations and then I quit once I get to Kraid's lair.
>>736124336kino, one of if not my favorite Metroid game
I finished replaying SM over the weekend and made this collage out of screenshots I took.
Great bosses Fuck AdamGreat atmosphereFuck AdamTerrible endingFuck AdamFuck nav rooms Fuck AdamGreat controls, feels very snappyFuck AdamWay too linear. You literally can’t even go for 100% until you beat the game and go back into your save fileFuck Adam7/10
>>736124336Best bosses in the series
>>736126834>enhanceIts fine but too many lows to justify the highs.
>>736124336Held back too much by being on a shitty low spec handheld device. Imagine how it would have been if it was on the Gamecube or PlayStation 2 with nice 2D graphics, great sound instead of crappy beep boops and more. It's still good but...it could have been so much more, especially since it was a sequel to Super Metroid.
>>736126834lmao no
It alright
>>736135338I just started replaying Nestroid, this time I'm drawing a map.
>>736126545Even in fusion It's not actually a vaccine, if the DNA didn't affect her and make her part Metroid then the X would just re infect her and she wouldn't be able to eat them. Whoever decided to use the word "Vaccine" simply made a mistake
Why do retards keep saying Dread retconed stuff? It didn't change anything.
>>736144021because they're... retards, anon
>>736124336It had nice music, graphics and atmosphere, but way too restrictively linear gameplay
