What is your favorite Disgaea game and why?
I've played every game besides 3, but I always find myself enjoying 1 more because of the story despite the lack of QoL.

3 is my favourite. It might not add as many features as other games did but it tickles my Disgaea itch so well

>>736146394I haven't played Complete. I agree that healers feel very bad in 1 because of only getting EXP from kills, but somehow it doesn't bother me as much as it should. It forces me to use consumables, at least, which I barely do in other entries.

I think 4 would have the best cast if they stopped overusing the same gags.From 5's postgame I only remember Carnage levels and Baal, and there was no side mode like the excellent Axel campaign from 2. 4 also had better base customization than 5
I like D3's setting and cast a lot, it just has a shitty last boss twist and perfectible game mechanics

>>736147991It's the Disgaea setting I think about the most actually. The others are fine, but D3's setting is a school for all kinds of demons except it's basically opposite day. It's dumb, but it's dumb fun and Beryl is best girl. I'll even go as far as to say that Mao was fine when mixed with everyone else.

>>736143196The original Hour of Darkness because it was by far the best execution of the setting and concept with the most endearing cast and the least retarded plot. My favorite character was probably Laharl himself, with Gordon as a close second, then Midboss. What can I say? I'm a sucker for hammy actingEveryone associates Disgaea with grinding but I didn't do much grinding or maxing out and mostly skipped the postgame. I love Disgaea for the humor and cuteness more than anything else. That's why for me the first game is the best game.
