The reason why many get frustrated with them and feels miserable is because they "try" to play competitively but not really actually try to. It becomes a nonstop dopamine chasing for the "high moments" that you forget in no time.
Even worse is that you don't even participate in any kind of competitive community. Its worst parts of every aspect of gaming
>Stress over performance and lack of proper performance
>No real drive to get better or learn to play
>Not part of any community
As someone who plays competitive Smash Bros. Melee I can say with 100% honesty that without IRL tourneys and the community in general plus aiming to get better, it loses the whole point of playing competitively.
I guess the lack of "official competitive scene" by Nintendo makes it feel more genuine. Jesus Christ if someone just plays Slippi Ranked while not wanting to learn the game

Anyway. If you play competitive games, actually play competitively and learn it and get to know other comp players and become part of the community so you have an actual hobby. Otherwise don't bother, its just gonna fuck you up. Play vidya you can just play.

I called it quits when Dota 2 will mute you for the stupidest reasons and you couldn't trash talk anymore.
Dota 2 was the last game to sort of allow you to trash talk since most other online games are silent since everyone is in their discord (which is on borrowed time anyway).

My little bro made me play War Thunder because he liked watching the game but was bad at playing and controlling his temper. Eventually he grew up, got a job, plays Helldivers and Tarkov with his work buddies, doesn't really like hanging out with me anymore, so multiplayer is basically out of my hair at this point.
