I went through so many stages of Chinese controller autism just to end up back here
>>
>>736163783
still got the drift. they're shit.
take the Gamesir pill
>>
>>736163919
I never had the drift issue, I only had issues with my bumpers and triggers.
The problem is that the Xbox controller has perfect ergonomics and the other controllers don't
>>
>>736163783
never buy 3rd party controllers
>>
I went Dualsense with upgrade battery, gulikit TMR sticks and microswitch triggers.
>>
>>736164078
how much have you spent on controllers?
how much does a soldering kit cost?
>>
The 360 controller was superior
>>
>>736164501
shit d-pad though
>>
>>736164078
You sound like a sissy
>>
>>736163783
I buy cheap chinese controllers so I dgaf when I have to replace them for one reason or another.
>>
>>736164585
Nah it's just annoying when you have a controller that should be good but the retarded chinks didn't think about how it'd feel to have the dpad floating so high that you fucking touch it whenever you move the analog stick upleft
>>
Ps2 with a USB adapter is the best
Buttons feel good
Sticks feel good
Dpad feels good
As it was first party made.
No battery to worry about and since the adapter just makes it work like a standard controller it's compatible with like everything
>>
>>736163919
Just replace the sticks. It's a $10 drop in, and you get a better overall controller than a Chinese knockoff that sprays asbestos in your face.
>>
I tried this for the first time a few days ago. Does anyone else struggle to press L1, or are my hands just fucked?
>>
>>736164786
PS2 also got around the drift issue while using potentiometers by just having itself recalibrate whenever you turn on the system and move the sticks a few times. Modern controllers don't do that because they want as much of your money as possible.
>>
it be like that. xbox has the snappiest face buttons plus the dpad and triggers are good.
>>
Any 8BitDo chads in here?
>>
>>736163783
>standard xbone for 3D
>8bitdo sn30 (kinda wish it was the pro one with the stick grips but I got it on clearance for basically nothing so w/e) for 2D
>retrobit usb Genesis controller for the rare situations I play something that needs all those face buttons
I’ve gone through a bunch of controllers over the years but this is my main setup as of now.
Tend to hate Sony controllers for one reason or another so I never bought a Dualsense.
>>
>>736164858
It doesn't prevent drift. Drift is caused by physical wear on the brakes for the pots. No matter how much you recalibrate, if it falls slack offcenter, it'll have drift.
>>
>>736163783
I've been using a Power-A brand (xbox variant) USB controller for like 5 years now with no issues.
>>
>>736164992
Xbox Sex controller for most games, GOOD CONDITION N64 controller for N64 games and games that require high analog precision, Gamecube controller for Gamecube games that feel better with that fucked up layout and dual-stage triggers. That is all, I have adapters to use the latter two on PC.
>>
>>736165170
You wouldn't understand unless you've played on PS2. I first noticed this on Jak & Daxter. Start game up, character moves due to drift. Rotate sticks around, drift ceases for the entire duration of your gameplay session.
>>
>>736164793
will need a size 8 security torx screwdriver to open it though so add a one-time extra $10 purchase to the price
>>
>>736164946
no, i have human adult sized hands
>>
>>736163783
I bought 8BitDo Ultimate 2C 2.4G and its really great, one of the best contorllers I ever had
>>
>>736164992
>>736165256
Oh yeah and arcade stick for shmups and Genesis controller for literally just a few games like Alien Soldier
>>
>>736165256
What's the best way to get the authentic GameCube controller experience? Is there one that works on both PC and Android?
>>
>>736165386
8bitdo bluetooth adapter was a pretty good purchase
>>
>>736163783
The Xbox Hueg controller was so awful, Microsoft is still on my shitlist.
>>
>>736165329
It's not due to drift. It's due to the brakes grabbing the pot offcenter.
>>736165347
>doesn't have a wall full of tools and bits in the garage storage room where his PC is
NGMI
>>
>>736165329
>>736165170
>>736164858
Idk my ps2 controller sticks are completely fine after 20 years of constant use. At most i did a deep clean of my controller twice throughout 2 decades.
I can't say the same for my 360 controller and I doubt anything newer
>>
>>736165467
Get a real GC controller. I use one of the official repro models they made for smash Wii U.
They sell usb adapters on Amazon. Mayflash makes one, I got some random chink bootleg that was on sale and it works fine.
>>
Redpill me on gamesaar
>>
>>736163783
This is still just Chinesium controller shit. Enlightenment is ortholinear QMK split keyboards, arcade sticks and simulator autism.
>>736164501
It was still garbage, awful triggers because it wanted meme gun triggers.
>>736164121
This. Xbox is the third console competitor left in the party, therefor you should never buy their shit.
>>736164567
Everything under the sun has a shit d-pad.
>Plagued by patents while it was still an effective input method
>Every brand has their autism and brand recognition for d-pads
>Least important feature on a modern controller, so typically also the most neglected
>>
xbox dpad sucks ass
>>
>>736165758
ps has best dpad
>>
>>736165572
i have shit loads of tools for everything i might only need once in my lifetime but my smallest torx was size 10 which is already tiny. had to order online since they didn't sell miniscule size 8 in any of the stores near where i live
>>
>>736165740
Is velly velly good saar. Please to use my referral code.
>>
>>736165767
Yeah Xbox has good ergonomics, it does feel natural for the stick mostly used for movement to be higher up, but the dpad always kills them
>>
>>736165790
Agreed separating the blades of the dpad feels far better than a big mushy ball even if the snes controller is actually super precise. I just prefer the playstation way
>>
>>736165347
Who doesn't have that already?
>>
>>736165701
Awesome, thank you anon.
>>
>>736165791
I specifically had a bunch of secure torx in various sizes because I worked at a wireless internet provider back in 2000, and that's what we used for our set top boxes. President came into the Monday meeting with a bag full of them for all the tech guys, and said we could keep them.
>>
>>736163783
I use xboner elite I like it too much. programmable back buttons, 50 hour battery life, just works going back to xp era games.
>>
>>736163919
Never had a controller die out of stick drift. I always manage to break dpad before that.
>>
Its odd but I find myself using dpads far more now than before, maybe because so many indie games are 2d. Mid 2000s 3d boom, yeah analog was king but idk now. A bad dpad is a nonstarter today.
Only really 3d platformers which are rare and 3rd person action/shooters I use analog. Everything else wasd+mouse like fps or dpad

this but the switch pro or switch 2 pro
>>
>>736163783
Does anybody know if the Direwolf 4 from flydigi is worth it?
>>
>>736169705
I think the xbone is slightly more ergonomic and comfy but those tendie controllers really aren’t bad for general use either. Good battery life too.
>>
>>736166771
The black and white buttons are impossibly dumb, the analogue stick managed to lose the rubber cap leaving only a sharp metal bit behind, the gigantic triggers make them worse as buttons, the D-pad is unbelievably horrible and it generally just looks like the PS1 Dualshock but they didn't know how to make that.
>>
>>736163919
I never had drift, but the shoulder buttons or dpad will shit the bed sooner or later.
>>
>>736170064

>>
>>736170443
I think they got a decent bit of heft to them these days but maybe my standards are just abysmally low, I dunno.
Meanwhile with the DS3 and 4 they always felt so light and cheap I was afraid I would end up breaking them just by gripping or pressing a button a little too hard.
Gyro is a legitimate complaint even though I never really play anything that utilizes it on PC.
>>
>>736170849
Isn't that the controller that billionaire crashed his submarine with
>>
>>736171239
don't be ridiculous
that's the controller that survived an incompetent meatbag piloting his tin can to the bottom of the ocean.
>>
>>736170348
the shoulder buttons on the xbone controller are so dogshit. over time they'll become mushy then eventually completely unresponsive. it really sucks that there isn't a single good controller with the comfy xbox stick layout.
>>
>>736171034
oh yeah dualshock and especially ds4 is pretty shit too, they finally got rid of their convex triggers with ds4 but then the charging connector breaks in a stiff breeze and the battery life is about 90 minutes
with gyro it's mostly that i feel they're holding gaming back because not having gyro means they aren't making it an xinput standard because they're kinda the de facto pc controller right now and gyro is basically 1:1 with mouse so it'd free up a whole joystick for extra player input bandwidth
this is one of my autistic fixations
>>
>>736171239
to be fair it imploded because the structural integrity failed, the sub didn't hit anything. Also, don't US Navy subs use xbox controllers for navigation?
>>
>>736171239
he deserved it for using inverted controls
>>
I think its genuinely a very good controller
The only remaining flaws are that the sticks are low durability and the bumpers are using flimsy microswitches.
The benefits are that the flayed grips are supremely ergonomic and the buttons have perfect mix of travel and actuation force. The d-pad is also very precise
>>
First party shills in full force today

If you got turd party recs feel free to share. I don’t mean to be a microshill but I’ve only ever had bad experiences with offbrand shit.

Recently got a new flydigi made for Xbox. Not to shill, steal whatever you can obviously, but I really like those pads over all the OEMs.
Idk why Valve even announced the Steamroller as a product separate from the new Steam Machine only to just not release it because of supply issues that only should be affecting the Machine. Nigger retards.
>>
>>736165740
I have one, bought it last year. D-pad seems to be a bit shit and I can't check the battery percentage. For 15 bucks it's pretty good. There are probably better ones, but they will definitely cost more

Oh my god I love this controller so fucking much. I'm genuinely impressed that a modern pro controller has a dpad this good. It's a floating tactile dpad. Motion inputs feel great and it is basically impossible to hit an accidental diagonal. Only thing to note is that if have smaller hands it may be hard to use the lb/lt buttons when using the dpad. But you can always rebind them to CZ or one of the other extra buttons if that's an issue.

>>736179350
the buttons takes getting used to, right analogue stick feels off in shooters until you get the right settings in the software, the d-pad does double clicks sometimes if you use one of the other attachable d-pads that come with it or if you don't have the newer Zenless Zone Zero version of the controller and the rubber part in the back will probably be the first thing (along with the rubber sticks) to degrade and fall off with time.
other than that it's pretty good not having to deal with shitty stick drift and it's not as expensive as other controller with back buttons
>>
>>736179825
in halo for example you could swap grenade types if you picked up several different ones
or switch Night vision goggle types in
flash headlights in nfs

that isn't really somthing you have to do in a bind all that often but it's nice to keep things free from being buried into menus or otherwise using chords or button combinations that could risk you doing something on accident

That button isn't amazing but if your finger can't press it, you should get that checked out.

are there any tmr controllers, with extra buttons, without dogshit chinese bloat software, that can do macros?

I remember when /v/ always shilled the WiiU pro like the second coming of christ and I finally got one and it felt like a fisher price toy. They were right about the infinite battery life though.

I just got mine after my older 8BitDo triggers gave out, it's pretty cool and looks neat. I like how the buttons feel clicky and the hall effect should supposedly make it more durable. Not too confident on the material of the joysticks since the older ones I had turned into playdough after like 2 months of use.
First game I beat with it was Outer Wilds.

If you look at them on the Duke they're clearly meant to be stand-ins for the old C and Z buttons on Sega 6 button controllers. It annoys me that they got moved on the S though there's obviously no room left to keep them up top.

Is this a good controller to use wired? I still want to use it on pc and switch 2 but for some reason there is heavy 2.4 interference around my living room making impossible to use normal bt and joycon controllers
>>
Is there a functional difference between the xbone and xbox sex controllers?
I just realized I’ve been using the names interchangeably.

Normal dpad are usually just the cross cover over 4 buttons for each direction. That said, the vader's dpad still works fine for platformers or menuing in rpgs.
