I went through so many stages of Chinese controller autism just to end up back here
>>736163783still got the drift. they're shit.take the Gamesir pill
>>736163919I never had the drift issue, I only had issues with my bumpers and triggers. The problem is that the Xbox controller has perfect ergonomics and the other controllers don't
>>736163783never buy 3rd party controllers
I went Dualsense with upgrade battery, gulikit TMR sticks and microswitch triggers.
>>736164078how much have you spent on controllers?how much does a soldering kit cost?
The 360 controller was superior
>>736164501shit d-pad though
>>736164078You sound like a sissy
>>736163783I buy cheap chinese controllers so I dgaf when I have to replace them for one reason or another.
>>736164585Nah it's just annoying when you have a controller that should be good but the retarded chinks didn't think about how it'd feel to have the dpad floating so high that you fucking touch it whenever you move the analog stick upleft
Ps2 with a USB adapter is the bestButtons feel goodSticks feel goodDpad feels goodAs it was first party made.No battery to worry about and since the adapter just makes it work like a standard controller it's compatible with like everything
>>736163919Just replace the sticks. It's a $10 drop in, and you get a better overall controller than a Chinese knockoff that sprays asbestos in your face.
I tried this for the first time a few days ago. Does anyone else struggle to press L1, or are my hands just fucked?
>>736164786PS2 also got around the drift issue while using potentiometers by just having itself recalibrate whenever you turn on the system and move the sticks a few times. Modern controllers don't do that because they want as much of your money as possible.
it be like that. xbox has the snappiest face buttons plus the dpad and triggers are good.
Any 8BitDo chads in here?
>>736163783>standard xbone for 3D>8bitdo sn30 (kinda wish it was the pro one with the stick grips but I got it on clearance for basically nothing so w/e) for 2D>retrobit usb Genesis controller for the rare situations I play something that needs all those face buttonsI’ve gone through a bunch of controllers over the years but this is my main setup as of now.Tend to hate Sony controllers for one reason or another so I never bought a Dualsense.
>>736164858It doesn't prevent drift. Drift is caused by physical wear on the brakes for the pots. No matter how much you recalibrate, if it falls slack offcenter, it'll have drift.
>>736163783I've been using a Power-A brand (xbox variant) USB controller for like 5 years now with no issues.
>>736164992Xbox Sex controller for most games, GOOD CONDITION N64 controller for N64 games and games that require high analog precision, Gamecube controller for Gamecube games that feel better with that fucked up layout and dual-stage triggers. That is all, I have adapters to use the latter two on PC.
>>736165170You wouldn't understand unless you've played on PS2. I first noticed this on Jak & Daxter. Start game up, character moves due to drift. Rotate sticks around, drift ceases for the entire duration of your gameplay session.
>>736164793will need a size 8 security torx screwdriver to open it though so add a one-time extra $10 purchase to the price

>>736163783The Xbox Hueg controller was so awful, Microsoft is still on my shitlist.

>>736165572i have shit loads of tools for everything i might only need once in my lifetime but my smallest torx was size 10 which is already tiny. had to order online since they didn't sell miniscule size 8 in any of the stores near where i live
>>736165740Is velly velly good saar. Please to use my referral code.
>>736165767Yeah Xbox has good ergonomics, it does feel natural for the stick mostly used for movement to be higher up, but the dpad always kills them
>>736165790Agreed separating the blades of the dpad feels far better than a big mushy ball even if the snes controller is actually super precise. I just prefer the playstation way
>>736165347Who doesn't have that already?
>>736165701Awesome, thank you anon.
>>736165791I specifically had a bunch of secure torx in various sizes because I worked at a wireless internet provider back in 2000, and that's what we used for our set top boxes. President came into the Monday meeting with a bag full of them for all the tech guys, and said we could keep them.
>>736163783I use xboner elite I like it too much. programmable back buttons, 50 hour battery life, just works going back to xp era games.
>>736163919Never had a controller die out of stick drift. I always manage to break dpad before that.
Its odd but I find myself using dpads far more now than before, maybe because so many indie games are 2d. Mid 2000s 3d boom, yeah analog was king but idk now. A bad dpad is a nonstarter today.Only really 3d platformers which are rare and 3rd person action/shooters I use analog. Everything else wasd+mouse like fps or dpad
>>736165517t. babbyhandsThe DUKE is goated
For me its the 8bitdo ultimate 2C. Cheap and just works
*dies after 2 hours of gameplay*
>>736165973The back buttons saved my hands in games that try to make you do a claw grip all the time. Perfect for DS and Monhun.
>>736163783this but the switch pro or switch 2 pro
>>736163783Does anybody know if the Direwolf 4 from flydigi is worth it?
>>736169705I think the xbone is slightly more ergonomic and comfy but those tendie controllers really aren’t bad for general use either. Good battery life too.
>>736166771The black and white buttons are impossibly dumb, the analogue stick managed to lose the rubber cap leaving only a sharp metal bit behind, the gigantic triggers make them worse as buttons, the D-pad is unbelievably horrible and it generally just looks like the PS1 Dualshock but they didn't know how to make that.
>>736163919I never had drift, but the shoulder buttons or dpad will shit the bed sooner or later.
>>736170064I want the layout and size of the Xbox Series X/S controller with the D Pads and battery life of the Switch Pro controller. Would be perfect.
i recently got an 8bitdo controller for emulating games and it's so fucking good. Totally loving it>pic rel, playing dq6>>736166863yep this is the model I got
>>736170064personally i think xbox controllers feel like cheap garbage and it's insane that they STILL don't have gyro, but i do like the feel of their triggers and i really wish nintendo started using analog triggers again
kneel to the king
>>736163783>no back buttonsIts worthless for 3d games
>>736170443I think they got a decent bit of heft to them these days but maybe my standards are just abysmally low, I dunno.Meanwhile with the DS3 and 4 they always felt so light and cheap I was afraid I would end up breaking them just by gripping or pressing a button a little too hard.Gyro is a legitimate complaint even though I never really play anything that utilizes it on PC.
>>736170849Isn't that the controller that billionaire crashed his submarine with
>>736171239don't be ridiculousthat's the controller that survived an incompetent meatbag piloting his tin can to the bottom of the ocean.
>>736170348the shoulder buttons on the xbone controller are so dogshit. over time they'll become mushy then eventually completely unresponsive. it really sucks that there isn't a single good controller with the comfy xbox stick layout.
>>736171034oh yeah dualshock and especially ds4 is pretty shit too, they finally got rid of their convex triggers with ds4 but then the charging connector breaks in a stiff breeze and the battery life is about 90 minuteswith gyro it's mostly that i feel they're holding gaming back because not having gyro means they aren't making it an xinput standard because they're kinda the de facto pc controller right now and gyro is basically 1:1 with mouse so it'd free up a whole joystick for extra player input bandwidththis is one of my autistic fixations
>>736171239to be fair it imploded because the structural integrity failed, the sub didn't hit anything. Also, don't US Navy subs use xbox controllers for navigation?
>>736171239he deserved it for using inverted controls
I think its genuinely a very good controllerThe only remaining flaws are that the sticks are low durability and the bumpers are using flimsy microswitches. The benefits are that the flayed grips are supremely ergonomic and the buttons have perfect mix of travel and actuation force. The d-pad is also very precise
First party shills in full force today
>>736171709If you got turd party recs feel free to share. I don’t mean to be a microshill but I’ve only ever had bad experiences with offbrand shit.
>>736163783Recently got a new flydigi made for Xbox. Not to shill, steal whatever you can obviously, but I really like those pads over all the OEMs.Idk why Valve even announced the Steamroller as a product separate from the new Steam Machine only to just not release it because of supply issues that only should be affecting the Machine. Nigger retards.
>>736165740I have one, bought it last year. D-pad seems to be a bit shit and I can't check the battery percentage. For 15 bucks it's pretty good. There are probably better ones, but they will definitely cost more
>>736163783I am glad I got over my REEEEEE I ONLY WANT TO USE MY ONE CONTROLLER I ALWAYS USED phase early.Yes I was fucking pissed at Meatboy having a whole popup to tell you to use a controller and then not allowing me to mp my buttons because I used my old gc pad connected with an adapter.Just bought a fucking xbox one pad and voila it turned out to be excellent.
I liked this SCUF controllerThen two years later the wireless chip just totally died. Anyone have luck with a different brand>>736163919I really hate the way the buttons feel on gamesirsFeel and sound like cheap mouse buttons
>>736165386do they still have the 'square stick' issue on linux?
>>736170849I miss when Logitech still made good products. They just coast on their reputation and brand recognition now, their mice are so flimsy and shit.
>>736172461Listen mate I will pay 15-20€ for a mice every 5 years or so and be done with it.
>>736163783Had mine for 4 years and for now only RB died because the blastic tip that makes contact is flimsy as shit and only cost 3$ to replace. Yes, the button plastic is cheap as shit but the controller is also piss easy to repair since the chassis is so big.
Should’ve gotten the 8bitdo ultimate 2 wireless or whatever it’s called. an absolute banger of a pad
>>736172516>every 5 yearsI can barely make it one without them double clicking on me

>>736163783>starts drifting>shoulder buttons break
>>736163783Oh my god I love this controller so fucking much. I'm genuinely impressed that a modern pro controller has a dpad this good. It's a floating tactile dpad. Motion inputs feel great and it is basically impossible to hit an accidental diagonal. Only thing to note is that if have smaller hands it may be hard to use the lb/lt buttons when using the dpad. But you can always rebind them to CZ or one of the other extra buttons if that's an issue.
>>736174096floating?..
>>736167142that's not the dualsense
>>736164946they're nice, but kinda tiny, also the edge on the back of the handles are too angled and it hurt if you grab too tight
>>736163783>still made in chinaChina: welcome back.
>>736169904i got the flydigi vader 5 pro last week and generally like it so far. feels like an improved xbox elite controller with clicky buttons.
>>736175030they're so expensive though, i have no doubt they're great, but jeez over 100 for a controller?
instead of rating each controller i own, i decided to let you judge by the amount of dust on them
for me, its the new steam controller (when its out)
>>736175172I'm in the US and it was $63 on sale last week, it's back to $80 now though.
>>736174161It's similar to the type of d-pad Saturn controllers used. The dpad is raised a bit over the controller, not embed, and it has a rotational structure that leans with the direction you press.
>>736172763He's a genuine first party shill or a contrarian fishing for (You)s.
>>736175509it's like £90 in bongland rn, but you're right it's not as bad as i thought it was. i remember watching jewish tech tips and one controller was like 200, thought that was a flydigi?
>>736170849I can't believe people still recommend this piece of shit. I bought one like 10 years ago and hated it
>>736175372Holy shit man, respect your tools. Give them a proper case or something. Even individual plastic bags would do just to minimize dust build up.

>>736177040i've been tempted to email gabe and say i need one to pilot my submersible because i've lost faith in logitech, but i feel like he might just call me a sick fuck under my breath and delete my email
>>736163783I don't know about Chinese controllers but this shit is way better than the dual sense, that d-pad is phenomenal. At first it bothered me how the buttons were noisy but I got used to it very quickly.
>>736163783There's no better d-pad out there, you can play fighting games with this shit with full precision for hours and your thumb doesn't hurt like with any other controller.

>>736177305i wish i bought one when they were being sold for like 2 dollars

>>736177432>The trackpads take up too much real estate.Take your pad in your hands and take a look if you ever put your thumbs below you analogs. It's unused space. As for weight, it's actually just 12 g heavier than DualSense or Xbox pad
>>736177040It was too powerfulIt had to be stopped
>>736177040They're delaying it, because literally the second they release it, they're going to contend with attacks on multiple fronts.>Ehrm actually this violates my patent that I filed last week so please pay me 6 quadrillion to settle out of court or the controller will be in legal limbo for the next 8 yearsit doesn't actually violate my patent, but the judge is my butt buddy, so he's going to repeatedly deny any attempt to resolve the patent dispute in a timely manner until you have to cancel the controller and sell your remaining stock off for penniesThey don't want to have to potentially still be securing their supply chain for the Gabecube and Steam Frame on top of that, since some of their liquid capital is going to be tied up in legal bullshit, even more so than is the case with the current disputes.

>>736179350what an unfortunate name
>>736179350the buttons takes getting used to, right analogue stick feels off in shooters until you get the right settings in the software, the d-pad does double clicks sometimes if you use one of the other attachable d-pads that come with it or if you don't have the newer Zenless Zone Zero version of the controller and the rubber part in the back will probably be the first thing (along with the rubber sticks) to degrade and fall off with time.other than that it's pretty good not having to deal with shitty stick drift and it's not as expensive as other controller with back buttons
>>736179825in halo for example you could swap grenade types if you picked up several different onesor switch Night vision goggle types in flash headlights in nfssplintercell IIRCthat isn't really somthing you have to do in a bind all that often but it's nice to keep things free from being buried into menus or otherwise using chords or button combinations that could risk you doing something on accident

>>736180415thats more that bluetooth is shit. If you use 2.4ghz you're golden

>>736164807That button isn't amazing but if your finger can't press it, you should get that checked out.
are there any tmr controllers, with extra buttons, without dogshit chinese bloat software, that can do macros?
I remember when /v/ always shilled the WiiU pro like the second coming of christ and I finally got one and it felt like a fisher price toy. They were right about the infinite battery life though.
>>736165386I just got mine after my older 8BitDo triggers gave out, it's pretty cool and looks neat. I like how the buttons feel clicky and the hall effect should supposedly make it more durable. Not too confident on the material of the joysticks since the older ones I had turned into playdough after like 2 months of use.First game I beat with it was Outer Wilds.
>>736179825If you look at them on the Duke they're clearly meant to be stand-ins for the old C and Z buttons on Sega 6 button controllers. It annoys me that they got moved on the S though there's obviously no room left to keep them up top.

>>736183914This has one of the worst layouts in that the face buttons are in the wrong spot. Same issue with the Steam Controller 1.0 back in the day, which means your muscle memory is entirely off. Almost all controllers have the face buttons ABXY etc... on the right, upper, outside placement. If they would swap the right stick location for it, it would be far better.

>>736182154Basically it depends on the variant. The sexbox controllers are A) guaranteed to have Bluetooth. XBOne controllers only of the 3rd generation, the last one before SEXbox, had BT; the earlier gen1 an 2 just had the Xbox proprietary dongle wireless exclusively and B) they have the middle 'space with arrow above it' ancillary button. Aside from that, there are only some chipset and other changes but not a big functional difference.>>736184450Valve pretty much did it because of them trying something new with the whole touchpad focus things and lacking a right stick entirely. Nintendo... I"m not sure. I think its mostly because they were just being different. I can't imagine they'd get sued as during the Wii era the Wii Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro both had basically Playstation level thumbstick placement (and the Pro even had extended grips like DualShock lineage). The Switch Pro (and Switch 2 Pro) would go on to use the 'correct' asymmetric xbox-style layout without fear too.
>>736184450You mean the button layout? Nintendo had that first since the SNES and their layout honestly makes more sense. A for accept, B for back. Accept on the top/right, back on the bottom/left.

I bought a Gamesir T3 lite to keep me preoccupied in the mean time so it can spray chinese asbestos in my face.>tl;drwhat high end controller should i get for multiplayer games
Does X360's gamepad still work with modern games?
