Huh, you know what I played the game as a kid so I didn't actually remember any of the story since I don't think I read anything in games back then so I actually never knew both his arms and legs were prosthetics.
I always just assumed it was only the hands and he just had like gauntlets on as a weapon or something.

Literally every fight is: pause, find their weakness, pause to make sure you have the right weapon, then do these really slow combos until the fight ends. And you can fuck yourself over by making weapons not good and then boss fights will take like 20 minutes because you'll be doing 10 damage.

and not the affinities, because those are very simple and easy to understand
you smack enemy with the thing it's weak at, eventually if you keep smacking enough enemies with it the property changes
that's literally it

the crafting is a little complex if you wanna make the perfect weapon but it's completely unnecessary since you can beat the game without ever doing it

Pretty much everything.
>Body part targeting is a meme because most enemies don't have actual thought put into their zones and there's either no reason to mash or target one specific body part for max hit rate
>Chain system (and consequently weapon and stat system) is entirely invalidated by flat damage chains
>Weapon forging system is convoluted for no reason at all as 90% of weapon types do nothing and your material+three slot hilt are the bread winner here
>Materials themselves are poorly damaged because Damascus>Hagane>>>everything else
>Weapon growth/stat system is meaningless because enemy type multipliers do nothing and elemental weaknesses work on flat thresholds so any element that goes over 50-60 deals true damage, and again, three slot hilts with 30 element gems do all the heavy lifting
>Break Arts are abysmal dogshit outside of the staff BA that reduces Risk, no reason to ever use any of them outside of damaging yourself with them to power up Raging Ache for superior flat damage
>Magic is abysmal dogshit until NG+2 because it mostly runs off your core stats which are RNG rolls on boss fights of wines, plus most offensive grimoires are either RNG drops from arbitrary enemies and the AoE ones are dogshit until L4 which is NG+ cycles only stuff, any buff that isn't a Shaman elemental buff is also dogshit.
>Healing Counters restore flat health AFTER the damage calculation is done as an entirely separate calculation so you literally can't die at any point in the game, especially because Magic Ward also protects you against Death spells that bypass damage and Counters
Like all Matsuno games it's a fucking mess, but VS is his worst game by far because NOTHING works or makes sense mechanically, to be fair it's because the game was notoriously rushed and was axed mid development, it needed at least one more year in the oven.
