We will now walk back on any opinions you might have found offensive and publish the reader-approved opinions instead.

>please understand games only have as high as 9 figure budgets these days with hundreds of employees so it's not feasible to believe they can complete a game in just ten years.
god I fucking hate modern reviewers. they don't even try to hide that they are in bed with the publishers anymore. it's obvious that they get paid for a score and then they create their review from there.

Doesn’t matter. There will always be an asterisk next to whatever new score they decide to give it, because they aren’t doing it out of anything else except an appeal to quell all the retarded shills who keep harassing them about it. >most obvious goty since elden ring.
unironically how
the game is alright but nowhere near generational/groundbreaking. The pacing is completely fucked up by the shitty sony-tier walk and talk sections and horseback riding follow-alongs with characters that are blander than rocks to support a story that is extremely disjointed.
Combat's fun in big groups of fodder but sucks against bosses because most bosses will invalidate a lot of your moves due to hyper-armour or their recovery windows just being too short to pull out anything big so you end up rinsing out the same 2-3 attacks or the Light Flash follow-up because it slows time down and lets you get 6 hits instead of just 2-3.
Tech-wise it's also kinda shitty too just because of how bad the lighting system is in regards to temporal accumulation and the base de-noiser (Non Ray Reconstruction) makes the game look fucking terrible in some spots.

The game would work way better if they toned down all the forced story shit and just let you focus more on exploration in the main story quests.

Also very true, I think it's pretty overrated in comparison to Fromsoft's catalogue. It works extremely well on the first playthrough but is abysmal to try and replay.
+ their boss design just gets more and more retarded as the games go on which culminates in some of Elden Rings spastic "I throw out a 15 hit combo at lightning speed whilst you spam roll because we made stamina a non-issue, then you can get 2 hits in before we do this dance again"

While I dont play DMC myself, I know that games soundtrack only kicks in when you are playing well and getting SSS and shit
>>
>>736186475
They have a bunch of gems. They played one DMC game with easy automatic mode on stream. Which makes a bunch of directional moves easier to perform by making them automatic, but this stifles the combo creativity.

Also Ace Combat 7 director was horrified when he saw journalists play with simplified/novice control mode, which also makes the game really easy but it's meant for kids.

The ux devs are to blame for this one, they shouldn't have called the normal flight controls 'expert'. People who aren't familiar with the series or flying probably thought expert controls were some kind of flight sim shit. What they should have done is called 'expert' normal, set that as the default and then call the old 'normal' simplified or casual some shit like that.

Let's deboonk these retarded claims:
>the number of new studios would fall
False, and I have no idea why he correlates the presence of journalists to the ability to establish new studios.
>the number of paid influencer campaigns would rise
True, but only a little. This is also a hilarious accidental betrayal of journalists taking money from game companies, because it implies if you have journalists you don't need as many paid influencer campaigns, which means journalists are doing the same kind of PR work LOL
>the cost of making games would increase due to needing a significantly larger ad spend
No, that money would just go to influencers and stealth marketers. This one is also a hilarious 'did you mean to say that' mask slip of admitting journalists are basically a paid extension of marketing

I don't see anything wrong with re-reviewing a game. I think it's unfair to not consider updates to games like No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2077.
What bothers me is that people only talk about this in cases where it's favorable to the game. I think reviewers should revisit games when they get worse too, especially MMOs and live service games.

For instance, FFXIV: Endwalker was reviewed well at launch when the only thing it added to the game was the story.
Two years later, the gameplay additions were widely considered to be disappointing. But it still maintains a 92 metacritic score.
Reviews are pretty useless for games like this because they're written when most of the content isn't playable yet, and only exists as a promise from the developer.
>>
>>736193493
>korean elden ring
>korean witcher 3
it's neither
it's basically a ubisoft open-world rpg with numerous mechanics, some good some bad, while also taking notes from GTA and RDR but not always in the best way. like how you're forced to engage with the story to unlock important game mechanics but the story is pretty weak. on top of that you can't skip cutscenes, only fast forward them and there are numerous "follow/walk with this npc and listen to them" moments like GTA and RDR
the world is frankly huge and fun to explore sometimes but i feel people are overrating this game just because some reviewers didn't like it

>I think it's unfair to not consider updates to games like No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2077.

>>736194309
The game is trash and their score is correct. Cry about it.
>>

>If you don't shill the 7/10 game you must side with IGN
You're the exact same low IQ retard as the 'pick a side in the jew-muslim war or you're the other side I don't like' crowd.

That's one of the more common uses for it.
You can also just use each element as some kind of attack/utility on its own. Each character has slightly different ways of using the elements besides Ice which seems to just do an AOE freeze. Some of these would look differently if I had an enemy to target but there weren't any around.
>>
>>736194703
Their score is incorrect, the game is a 3
regardless, siding with IGN just because they happen to agree with your opinion this time is fucking retarded and makes you a hypocrite. Or are you gonna say their dragon age score was correct?

TORtanic ruined this board. The reddit tourists don't know the right games to hate.

I doubt nu-/v/ even plays games nowadays.
>>
>>736183702
Because of industry collusion, they're fully enabled though. Streamers don't get the privilege of deciding a game's metacritic score, even though they have the same qualifications. In many case more qualified.
Games journos enjoy that power. If it was taken away, most of them would fuck off as well, since nobody would have a reason to care what they say over anybody else.
>>
>culture war retards think the devs are somehow le hecking based (how??? because they're eastern?) and that therefor the game they make MUST be good, and that marathon, because its made by woke western devs MUST be bad
>proceed to throw a melty when crimson desert gets reviewed fairly with a 6/10 and marathon gets a 9/10 because how could this happen? the devs are woke how can their game be better? it MUST be bias and paid reviews
>neither game is woke or anti-woke to begin with

Most games nowadays are pushed out before they are ready due to investor pressure, that the game might review like shit because it is a broken mess is one of the few arguments against that they'll listen to. Vain I know, since all reviews are paid for but the industry doesn't need further excuses to pull this shit.

ToT
>>
>>736195336
This about sums it up. Though I don't really think Marathon is above a 7/10.
>>
>>736195470
I don't think it really matters. Buying games as soon as they launch is retarded anyway.
Besides, what's to stop investors from pressuring studios into ruining a well-reviewed game with retarded microtransactions?

>Skyrim should be judged in 2026 by the state it released in 2011 with no mods
Kill all FOMO tards who only play the newest things once then move on like goy cattle.

No one should trust game reviewers regardless of what score they gave these two games.
/v/ is just extremely hypocritical.
>>
>>736195336
at least the wojak in this image forms his own opinion on the movie, even if he's a retard that looks at reviews just to validate his opinions.
>>
>>736195336
CD is a 7/10 and Marathon is a 4/10
>>
>>736195336
I only look at audience scores for movies i think about watching. I'll weigh critics if it looks like its just a stupid meme movie.

I really only look at steam reviews, and sometimes i'll look up un commentated gameplay videos
>>
>>736196219
Other way around
>>
>>736196248
steam reviews are good because it requires you to own and have played the game
>marathon has 85%
people dont like this for some reason
>>
>>736182408
They should also re-review some nintendo titles and remove the nintendo bonus.
>>
>>736196425
Steam reviews are terrible. 90% are "10/10 can pet the borker flooferino" or the lazy checkbox style reviews to farm awards.
>>
Reviews haven't mattered for at least a decade. It's all about paying streamers to say nice things now, not paying jurnos.
>>
>>736182319
Pathetic cucks. Why don't they do it for every game then?
>>
>>736191891
I was really disappointed by that game by the time I played it. What's it have a fucking 99 on metacritic, it ain't no 99 for real.
>>
>>736183991
Right now it's a 7/10 because everything control related really is just that bad.
>Is crouch ctrl like every other game?
>>No it's C
>Oh, is block right click like every other game?
>>No, it's ctrl
>Oh, where is the heal button?
>>f3
>What?
>>Also if you want to leave that screen, hold esc then use the mouse wheel to scroll to the exit button
>Uh, I can change these right?
>>Only on pc, and doing so will desync many other skills from sharing the same key and possibly outright break them
The flat out retarded controls scheme and needless extra hoops you have to do to accomplish what should have taken a single button press is never ending with this game and if the rest of the game.
>>
>>736186309
This is the one and only take with integrity on how to handle this issue,
solve so many things at once, especially if those reviewers come from different corners of genres giving their take
>>736196578
True but then there are streamers with big reach who get paid for disingenuous promotions, which puts us back to point uno of the issue
>>
>>736183139
the difference is that cyberpunk actually was an unplayable mess at launch
>>
>>736182319
>didn't get paid

Lol these autistic reviewers have no credibility, if I see something interesting I'll try it myself, who gives a fuck what some retard at whateverthefuck inc. thinks

The fact that they're back peddling on their stance destroys all their credibility lel
>>
It's wild how he says "I waited for marathon because I wanted people to get the whole picture" and then reviewed pre-release crimson desert. If he felt so strongly about his journalistic convictions, why wouldn't he have waited a month for "launch troubles" to give way to a "fuller picture"?
Just laughable shit.
