The first story DLC Void Shadows is a fun distraction that gives some focus to your flagship and life aboard. The companion for this DLC has some solid writing (VA is hit and miss though imo) but she completely trivialize combats that were already fairly trivial. haven't bothered too much with the archetypes
The second story DLC Lex Imperialis is narratively way too light and disjointed. The new companion is a dry and dull judge dredd who also sucks in combat. The gameplay additions are shields that are useless to every party members except for Dull Dredd himself and don't show up in enemy hands outside of DLC encounters and the overseer archetype which is fun if you pick the only good familiar but also trivialize combats.

I had a ton of fun on pyro psyker, although in the lategame it can get a bit too easy. You can solo clear entire screens worth of enemies in one turn.

You can do something similar with Yrliet.
The game give you many opportunities to kill/abandon your companions.
Generally the first option is straightforward, but it gets more fucked up and cruel the longer you wait.
I did Idira's quest to see the content once but now I just kill her whenever I can just because she's black.

When is a good point in Baldur's Gate 2 to actually move on with the story? I've done my "main" party members quests and whilst the side content is fun it's also so time consuming. You could so easily just never leave chapter 2 but I want to see more or the story. Does anything get locked off by moving on?
