When I played those items were a bit of a gamble. You were basically hoping for the long game and that the lane was going to stagnate for the entire farming phase. If it worked out, you'd have way more money. If it didn't, you'd lose to an aggressive ADC that killed you and your support.

As an ADC, the reason I stopped playing the game was due to supports. I was only Emerald 3 on EUW so I wasn't exactly good at the game, maybe average, but near enough every game you'd get the worst supports imaginable. Liek you'd have a support Thresh who, for some reason, stands BEHIND you instead of zoning off the enemy ADC with autos. They also miss every single hook and randomly walk in and die they spam ping you because they thought it was a good idea to engage at 40% HP while both of the enemy ADC/support are full HP.

I just gave up. I'd say, at least 3 out of 5 games was miserable. On the odd occasion you'd get a really good support but the downsides of a bad one really pissed me off too much.

Old Fiddle could poke the opposing lane out with his E and his counter engage would make all inning difficult for them.
Current Fiddle wouldn't really be able to do much on lane without his old E.

I played old fiddle as support and it was great because it's a silence ability, all of them were great, but the real strength was telling your ADC to push the first wave and hit them with it when there's no minions left so all bounces are between support and ADC, took like half their healthbar for both
Other than that you were just sorta sitting there being a cunt no one could engage due to your fear but also completely fucking useless if your ult was on cooldown
