We will all play games together. An RTS will be like the 3rd most played game.
>Just make a good campaign. It's obviously easier to just make multiplayer, and with how popular PvP games are (vastly more popular and hours played), this seems like an OK option. Would you play if an anon made a PvP RTS?>APM.>Build order.I feel like people that bring these up haven't played a very good RTS. Try AOE II and SupCom FAF.
I am honestly huffing so much hopium for DoW4. They can't fuck it up 3 times in a row, surely.
Do you think people are getting tired of AOE II? I imagine that a lot of people haven't played (the PC gaming demographic is 1.5B), but it's not exactly peak fantasy.
>>736197043>APM and build order don't factor into AoE2huh??????????
>>736197043I don't play any multiplayer games.
>>736197209I'd really really like it if a new RTS built like AoE2 came out and it's the same except had the aesthetics of Warcraft 2. Low-mid fantasy orcs and shit with wizards. >So you want [x] game that already exists???Yes but I'd like it to be popular
>>736197391>Yes but I'd like it to be popularThe only people interested in RTS as a genre are too old to play RTS effectively anymore. There's no way you're getting Gen A's hooked on an RTS, and nobody else has the apm to play one to a high level. They will never be popular again.
>>736197043>APM.>Build order.>I feel like people that bring these up haven't played a very good RTS.wdhmbt

>>736194797>We will all play games together.I tried FPSes. I tried MMOs. I tried MOBAs. I tried PvP in RTSes. I tried fighting games. I tried co-op in ARPGs. I don't like multiplayer. I didn't enjoy my time in ARPGs I otherwise liked when I was playing alongside other people, and I just didn't enjoy the other genres much. The games I do actively enjoy are all entirely single-player genres, like puzzle games, blobbers, and traditional roguelikes.
>>736197213You don't have to have 150 APM to be good.It has starter build orders, but it's not the whole game.Maybe I should have just said SupCom.>>736197534People will get into it.
>>736197043>It's obviously easier to just make multiplayer, and with how popular PvP games are (vastly more popular and hours played), this seems like an OK option. That's the exact mindset that's caused every modern RTS to bomb. You've failed before you've already began.
>>736197043PVP is what makes RTS so hard to get into. The skillfloor is too high and you can't play it casually, you need to know your build orders and how to scout for cheese and everything
>>736197043>Single player campaign It doesn't even have to have a campaign, just have cool units that blow shit up and not require the gameplay to have too much APM-tard micro. Don't make me have to manually trigger fucking abilities for each of my 24251 units and manage 3572 buildings, give me a UI and default unit behavior that is not designed by lazy retards.
when will they buff handcannoneers?
>>736198240It may be hard to get into right now, but it doesn't have to be (e.g., good, short tutorials), and scouting and all of that is easy to do. People play MOBAs that take a long time to learn how to play against all the characters. It's much more lenient playing an RTS in a team game as long as you understand basic principles of map design and unit matchups.
>>736198397Also let people mod your game, don't be a greedy shithead company like blizzard.
>>736198616Modding removes the delicate balance of the important PVP ecosystem.
I'd like to play more RTS but I find them quite difficult... I can do the basic stuff but I almost always end up hitting a brick wall somewhere along the campaign.
You literally just need some zoomoid celebrity to play a game and it'll be popular. Slay the Spire 2 got insanely popular despite half the bandwagoners jumping in to play it being way too retarded to understand how to play a card game.
How much would you pay for an RTS Kickstarter for a copy of the game? $15? $30 for early access?
>>736194797I was JUST in the middle of a push with Mammoths and a very close match with a competent team, one of those unicorn matches that you're having a boner mid fight, and the internet fucking died on me.I felt that.
>>736198994$0. Give me a finished game.
>>736197162>tfw I played Iron HarvestYeah well...I hope you can at least enjoy a very mid railroaded campaign....
>>736198994Does the early access come with the campaign or a scenario editor? What mechanics does it have to stand out from the existing games?
>>736199458>Does the early access come with the campaign or a scenario editor? If the campaign gets high enough.>What mechanics does it have to stand out from the existing games? So far, I just want to copy SupCom.What kind of story do you want?
>>736198810Just watch walkthroughs on youtube bro
>>736199058Why would I play BAR when I can play Zero-K?
>>736194797The monkeylord spiderbot, that is exactly one of those things.

>>736199589>Player is commander of a fledgling PMC>Said PMC got a huge initial startup fund in exchange for being the vanguard for one of the nations in an ongoing war>Tutorials can be you testing out the command infrastructure and field testing equipment>Could go lots of directions from there, but I'd like to see the player, years into the war, after growing in fame and power, liberate a contested zone, declare it sovereign territory, and defect from the employer country to fight for establishing a new land
How do I have fun in BAR? I don't want sweaty online gaming. And I don't want the same repetitive round against ai.
