When I was a kid hanging out with furfags online, they weren't actually trying to groom you, they just assumed you were of age until they found out otherwise, then they fucked off and maybe apologized. Also people would often be pretty upfront "hey wanna fuck" and if you said no they'd just be like "ok" and go bother the next person. Since then it's seemingly gotten less safe in social vidya. I feel like if we were more open about sex though and made kids more aware of this stuff they'd just tell pedos to fuck off themselves or tell their parents or an authority figure and they could quickly handle the situation. Instead it seems like people hide shit from their parents to avoid getting in trouble with psycho overcontrolling parents that are probably abusers themselves and that means the pedos get to go undetected unless another safe adult online finds out about it and reports it.
