Just got around to beating this game on my backlog. Was a ridiculously long game (like 70ish hours to beat most of the stuff). It was fun, was able to beat like 95% of the puzzles without looking at hints, but some of the reflexes required for this made me feel my unc status. What did you guys think of this game and what do you think about the supposed sequel that is coming out this year?
>>736203425I think this game is a masterpiece and the sequel will surpass it.
>>736203498Yeah it is a fun game. The keys for the dungeons made it to where you could play for 15 minutes at a time and not get lost. The combat was cool in that you had to think and button mashing wouldn't help you. I do wish that some of those super long chain puzzles weren't so reliant on mouse controls
One thing that I would complain is all side characters are one note quirk chungus
So, is it for me? I'm a 35+ boomer that likes Wild Arms/Golden Sun/early Tales games dungeons.
>>736203624I like the ricochet puzzles, I think the longer ones should have been split up and placed into different rooms individually.
>>736203776>Wild Arms/Golden Sun/early Tales gamesI only play good games
>>736203771The Asimov guy was annoying. Obvious self-insert, not reliable (kept lying and misleading me), plus he was ugly, and the Evotar he chose for him self made me want to steal his lunch money
>>736203425I _love_ CrossCode and I'm looking forward to Alabaster Dawn.
>>736203776I'm the same age and I really liked it. You might have to turn the reaction speed for the puzzles down some though. I ended up beating it at 100%, but I was tempted to turn it down because it was frustrating getting the timing down on some of the puzzles.this is some of the shit you'll have to deal with:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQLvW58xIxE
I hated the overworld navigation but the dungeons were fun
>>736204014Yeah that part was annoying, there wasn't enough depth perception for some of the platforming you needed to do, so it ended up being frustrating even getting around sometimes not even just getting the chests.
I enjoyed Crosscode, pretty fun ARPGI became irrationally angry and sad at the first town filled with fake players, having felt nostalgic for old mmo's and PSO, and dealing with the knowledge that era of games no longer exists and will never again.
>>736204226Our world is a grand sandbox, anon. I genuinely think that MMOs can make a return in our timeline, not all is lost
>>736204226It's sad because someone could make it, but the issue is that you would eventually have to populate it with NPCs once people stopped playing the game. I think the only active MMOs are like FFXIV
Yeah.Shame about those character designs.
>>736203857So, not a game with Deviantart artwork, right?
>>736204226I just spent the last few days playing a fishing browser game made by kino-starved devs. https://vibes.fish/I do think these things are bound to return in some fashion.
>>736203425I've had it in my backlog for years, but literally a few days ago I found out the creators got fucking ShibayanRecords to do a bossa nova song for the game, so I'm definetly playing it as soon as I have the time.I hope it's in the charming side of the faggotry spectrum.
>>736203771I thought this was going to bother me too, but the characters are too nice to really get annoyed by. They won me over.I do think there's room for a bully in their character dynamics though to ground them a little
>>736204836Summertime Saga is ok
>>736204752Yeah, has that very anime/tumblr thing going for it that always looks weird. Sea of Stars also did it and its like, if you want anime, go full anime. If you want western, go full western. Combining the two looks bad
>>736203425The setting is an MMO, is it like DotHack?
>>736203425The platforming sucked and the later temple puzzles became so convoluted that I just got burnt out. I think I was on the wave temple when I last played in 2024.
>>736206157It's mix of MMO and actually it's real. It's hard to explain
>>736206328yeah shit is a grind. I finished it the past month because I have no life. It's fun but some of the puzzles stop being cool and quirky and just become painful.
>>736203425I had mixed feelings about the experience. Didn't care for the story and setting outside of the twisty parts at the end. Strongly disliked the combat outside of a few of the bosses. The overworld traversal is actually insane, I think it's pure German autism and I felt compelled to do all of it. The best part by far was the dungeon puzzles.Alabastard benchod Dawn has a nice demo, dunno how much content it has but it had more than I wanted to play when it came to sim/survival mechanics like cooking in town or some shit. These guys are definitely quite good at making action rpg combat, and it feels better than it does in CC. The story is fast paced.
One of my favorite games of all time.
>>736206157It's closer to SAO than DotHack if that makes sense.
>>736204080Yeah I stopped in that one hell looking area because I got stuck but it wasn't a fun area
I love Lea's game.Still haven't touched the DLC.
>>736207630The DLC is good, high highs and low lows. Even as a fan of the story there's some buckwild shit. The final dungeon is really cool though, has some new mechanics I quite enjoyed.
>>736207630The DLC is worth it for the final dungeon alone. Peak gaming.
>>736207560Keep going, it gets super fun. You can ask ChatGPT or Grok to give you hints that don't completely spoil the puzzle if you need help. Go back and try it anon, use this thread as inspiration.
>>736207694>>736207882>>736207630Agreed. I got the dungeon with my original game and it's FUN. The new puzzle mechanics feel cool and it was the perfect difficulty. Like just difficult enough that there were some rooms I really had to think, but all were doable and it didn't have as many of those super long puzzles
>>736207893Nah it's been 3 years
>>736203425>What did you guys think of this gameI bought it when it was still unfinished on Greenlight. I probably played like 20 hours of it, but I stopped because gathering 20 boar asses to craft weapons and armor felt too much like an MMO to me. I had fun outside of the MMO style grind.
>>736207984You should go back and finish your old games before playing new ones.
>>736207991Just buy the items from a store. Yeah that grind and trade system was wild cause it's like let me just buy shit.
It's really a great game, but i think the story is kind of silly. The puzzles were fun and it brings me back a lot of memories from Alundra.I think the game is missing a coop mod and it could have been fun to race against another real player in dungeons.Yet i'm not a super fan of racing against a simple timer.I still haven't done the dlc and i'm planing to restart the game from zero one day.
This game was fucking terrible.>Everyone is written like heckin lesbian redditors>All quests are just generic MMO slop quests because it's technicly in an MMO.>Game exists in an MMO with multiple classes. But not for you the player! No fun allowed.>Longer you play the more it devolves into just a puzzle game and nothing else.>Combat is fun but really never changes over it's extremely long campaign.I never beat it and I'm glad I didn't. Put like 20 hours into it. I just couldn't handle how someone could design a game that's all of the worst parts of an MMO and unironicly sell it as is.
>dood you pick the worst class lol!>it's actually the strongest class but every single being in the MMO have no frontal lobeWhy is it always like this
>evotars can't buy swimsuit cosmeticsthat's bullshit
>>736210329Because in a good MMO the "best" class is one that is very difficult to use but is OP once you use it properly to reward the best players
>>736209651The game definitely has a "reddit" feel to it that's real. Also how are you going to chose a class when you're an Evotar? It's kind of the point.Yeah I agree about the puzzles everything in the game is a puzzle, the platforming is a puzzle, the combat is even a puzzle in the later stages.
>>736203425Absolutely loved the puzzles and combat.Interesting premise that could've used some better writing and pacing. And done more with a bunch of characters, but I guess it isn't outside the nature of an MMO to have players who are there but barely interact with you.I didn't mind the parkour but it wasn't great having next to no visual sense of depth and needing to reference with the crosshairs.Every other complaint I can think of is a byproduct of the MMO setting, so I'm hopeful Alabaster Dawn fixes most of that. I'm worried about how they'll approach dungeons, since they want more smaller ones; I know the demo's the literal beginning of the game but compared to Crosscode it felt like a BotW shrine.Overall one of my favorite games, I want more like it.
>>736211108Smaller dungeons are good because most people are only playing games for an hour+ at a time. Big dungeons cause people to get lost
