You can't just buy out his Zanmato, you have to build up an affection level with him by consistently paying him enough to use Wakizashi and not letting him die, but also not dismissing him too soon after being summoned. He's just not worth bothering with unless you're trying to gimmick a boss fight.

Then once you’ve finished it all the last boss just instantly dies, because it’s balanced to be killable without first completing the optional parts that have really op item drops. I’ve never finished ff12 100% because I just stopped playing before doing the last boss. I’ll probably kill it in 0.1 seconds though. Shoutout to that sphere teleport thing into sin, that’s like the coolest map in ffx and totally felt like endgame content. I remember that was like super cool. Probably never going to play ffx again, I beat it so many times dude I can’t handle playing it again. It’s so boringly easy once you know how everything works. It must be so hard to balance black gents in a corridor combat systems? They like never make it challenging, im so bored of this discussion.
