Can /v/ help me make a decision between two gaming laptops? the competition is between the Alienware 16 Aurora and the HP Omen 16. I've gotten a VERY good deal on both of them, almost 500 off, so don't bring up desktops being cheaper, they aren't in this scenario.>Alienware SpecsIntel Core 7 240H - Geforce RTX 5050 - 16 gigs Ram - 1tb storage - 120 hz screen>HP Omen SpecsIntel Core i7 13620H - GeForce RTX 4060 - 16 gigs Ram - 1tb storage - 144 hz screenThe main difference I can see between the two is the screen quality and the graphics card. The Alienware only being 120 hz is going to be a big problem for competitive gaming, I would need to get a 2nd monitor eventually to prevent ghosting. From what I understand, the HP Omens 4060 has more raw power than the 5050, but the Alienwares 5050 has more capabilities for frame generation and DLSS which may patch the difference or make it better than the 4060I also believe Alienware has a better build quality and internal cooling system, and the hardware will physically survive longer Which one should I get?
>these shitty specsStop being poor
>>736219732Neither, gaming laptops are a joke
>>736219732>so don't bring up desktops being cheaper, they aren't in this scenario. How much were they and Ill show you a better desktop for cheaper
>>736219732The omen is better. Both are shit. What is your budget?
>>736219818>>736219838I've found both of them for under 800
>>736219919What is your budget though? Is it 800?
>>736219732I would say the Omen is pretty good. One thing that you have to keep in mind always with laptops (even non gaming ones) is thermals: so how hot will the system generate before the fans kick in *at all*. That may seem obvious but most people tend to think whatever the computative "horsepower" before anything else.I know you said "no desktop mention" but I will have to for the reason of cooling and heat generation: because of the form factor, you have to settle on the coolest components because you can't do anything else except make sure that the surface is getting exposure to cool, direct air (one of those "laptop coolers" would be a good option at once to get) and when you operate in your room, make sure your room's temperature is cool to where there's no ambient "baseline" that causes the temperature runtime be higher than it should be.> TL;DR: go with the Omen.
>>736220031Yes
>>736219732>Gaming laptopJust buy a console, thirdie.
Specs wise the 4060 one is better, you're not gonna get anything out of MFG on a mobile 5050. Make sure to check that the GPU is running at full wattage, many times laptops will hard limit TDP on components which will completely fuck up performance.
>>736220059Yes, my last one was a Hasee T8 with a i5-12450H and an RTX 3060 that I got on the 4th of July sale for 600 bucks. it was a beast of a machine while it lasted, had high fps in every game I played, but overheated like a motherfucker and eventually the motherboard died after less than a year. had very high wattage on the 3060
>>736220483lol what in the fuck is a hasee?
>>736221979It's a pretty well known gaming pc company in China. The kind they actually use themselves, not the kind they just sell to westerners. They make good laptops, just not super long lasting ones. They're known for using cheap chassis and cramming powerful components into them to lower the price
>>736222214>They make good laptops, just not super long lasting ones. They're known for using cheap chassis and cramming powerful components into them to lower the priceYour literally contradicting yourself, obviously they arent "good" laptops if they die in a year
>>736222427Eh, I mean they just have really good specs for the price. The overheating is the main issue, but then again, I treated that computer like shit and never cleaned it despite having mountains of cigarette ashes all around itthey currently have an 15.6" i7-13620H / RTX5060 / 16G DDR5 / 1TB SSD for $1,059.99 listed on Newegg if you want an idea of what they do. I cant seem to find the model I had anyone on the internet anymore
>>736219732both are intel and nvidia so both are shit
>>736222706What's wrong with Intel and Nvidia?
>>736222729judaism
>>736222427>>736222660To add onto this, the model I had, with the RTX 3060, is a graphics card particularly known for overheating compared to the 4060 and 5060. Their other laptops with different GPUs might be less horrible
>>736221979Hasee was like the second largest Chinese computer manufacturer after Lenovo, but they don't have as much international recognition
