Witcher 1 and 2 are better than 3

3 is the only one I dropped midway through, I'm planning on replaying it on easy and just speedrun through the story playing it light a glorified visual novel. It had way too much filler content that is borderline Ubisoft-tier that made me give up on it and my OCD wouldn't let me just do the actual interesting side quests. I don't know why people cite it so often as an example of good open world RPG, it's really not interactive and the actual good content is diluted with the shitty Diablo loot and monster nests/Chat GPT quests that give you 10xp and 10 gold.

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are also better than base game of 3.
Like, miles better.

I've never been able to replay the game in full since it came out. I'd just skip it and choose the option to play the expansions standalone. The main game is a massive slog.

Absolutely fucking not. I like Witcher 1 and 2, a lot, but they're both basically prototypes to get to 3. 3 feels like the sequel to Witcher novels they wanted to make from the very beginning.

Witcher 2 is a natural evolution of what they always wanted to do, a nonlinear cinematic moviegame. It's nice that they included more rpg mechanics with a proper itemization too. And actual preparation for combat.

Witcher 3 is completely nuked by open world. Open world in general does not mesh at all with cinematic games, it only undermines cinematic values and those games make no use of freedom open world offers anyway. So it feels like open world is on some completely different layer of existence than world within scripted quests.

I haven't played 3 but I think 1 mogs 2 in writing and RPG design. 2 has the weakest leveling up I've ever felt in an RPG and Letho is underwhelming as a villain. Presentation wise, 2 is fuckin insane though

Weird 2 is the one I've tried to play multiple times and give up midway through because its boring.

The open world doesnt really take anything away the game just feels like it only uses a small section of the game and theres a lot of space imbetween those two areas. KCD felt the same way, but it was more fun in kcd because the npcs are more reactive and you can do more with free space.

Mogs all three
