I never know when I'm playing something that was designed to be too hard vs. my own inability to rise to the challenge and it's tearing me apart.

Only the very highest difficulty is ever designed to be "too hard". Second highest is usually tough but fair. Normal is easy peasy. I haven't played easy mode since I was a child so I assume it's a complete joke.

It is always your lack of skill. No game can be too hard because reality is the hardest.
I do not know of a game designed to NOT get beaten, even though there probably is.

When a game requires you to deliberately ignore like 80% of its mechanics and just use some broken meta strategies, that's when you know.

If you’re engaging with 80% of the mechanics and still making progress, the game’s probably fine and you’re just learning.

If you’re engaging with 80% of the mechanics and getting obliterated until you respec into “youtube build #3” and suddenly faceroll it, that’s not difficulty, that’s devs failing basic balance.

There’s a difference between “this boss tests everything you’ve learned” and “this boss hard-checks one very specific cheese strat.” One feels satisfying when you overcome it. The other feels like doing taxes correctly.

Difficulty should make you better at the game. If the optimal path is to ignore the game, that’s just bad design.

>youtube build #3 because you're too retarted to understand basic mechanics and need a guide.
It's never about the game difficulty. It's about your own lack of cognitive capacity. Something that plagues you, in your everyday life.

Why should you be able to engage with only 80% of mechanics? All those people who struggled with MGR because they refused to learn to parry were in the wrong, not the game.

If it has a tutorial and you're not using it and you're struggling then you're fucking up.

When you're feeling like you're getting a good grasp on the games mechanics and then you play whatever PVP mode it has and you just get shit on every time
