>>736229113As someone who's in tune with the pmd romhacking community and who's actually played explorers of the spirit, it's not very good. People say it's "full length with a new story" but that's bait - it's just the same as base EoS but they changed some of the details of the story to be edgier. The player character is far more aggressive in Spirit.Spoilers for the story here: The entire premise of the hack is that you play through EoS as the Darkrai that gets sent through the portal at the end of vanilla EoS. That is to say, instead of being a human transformed into the pokemon in EoS, you're Darkrai instead going through the same shit. This manifests in just being extremely rude and aggressive towards everyone - one key moment of this is getting to fight Team Skull at Apple Woods, and when you win you still get gassed, and when zubat tries to escape after your character just starts beating the everlasting shit out of them.If vanilla but edgy is your bag, I guess there you go. And fwiw the story divulges more from EoS as it goes on, but calling it a brand new story when 80% of the game is just reused from base EoS is such a mislabel, and I think the hack is very overrated, though you could also do much, much worse.My recommendation is to try some of the hacks made by the anons from here - Team Misfits, The Weather Up There, and Togetic's Very Special Episode are all by the same group of anons - they get more polished as they go too. Besides those, some of my personal recs are Strung up by Sketches, Seal of Ancients, and Waves of Nostalgia. Sadly, there's no original, full length PMD hack out yet. PMD is a lot more difficult to make a solid full length hack of than mainline, given how much more elbow grease has to go in to make a good story with proper cutscenes...
