can any Christians here recommend me a good annotated version of the new testament? I wasn't raised religious so have 0 context for a lot of this stuff. I've been reading through Robert Alter's translation of the Hebrew Bible which has a ton of insight on the historic, linguistic, and cultural aspects nearly every passage (currently on Kings) and have been referencing that alongside a KJV that I picked up for the more traditional text. Obvs my KJV will work for the New Testament but just wondering if you guys know of a scholarly version that I could pair it with to get a deeper understanding.
