lmao games these days would get so much flak for showing a real actress like this
>>
It kind of seems like the most taboo thing you can do in society is tell the truth
>>
You mean like MGS3 Remake did? Where was the flak?
>>

RA3 is the best in the series. And I'm tired pretending it's not
>>
>>736227770
Meh, that image is pretty shitty. It is "propaganda" that is just a picture of a lady. If it instead was something like:
>"I like RAF Men~"
>Picture of her looking all sexy
>ENLIST TODAY
I'd be on board with it. This literally is just "we put a sexy picture in the game" which is fine, I don't find that offensive but just saying "Ehhh.... it's a recruitment poster with no recruiting information!" is so stupid.

how is this a 2008 game

I really hope we go back to this type of RTS (that isn't on UE5 engine) again at some point.
>>
>>736228048
This is the problem with kids today. You dont need more reason than "it is sexy" to put a pinup in your garage. Or game. Or anywhere. Your analyzing post is why OP is correct.
>>
>>736228513
tempest rising although its on UE5 ran great for me, had 0 hitchups, pretty smooth game too
it kinda lacked the soul of C&C though, still a great game don't get me wrong, just not timeless

>>736227982
MGS3 remake got the girls to send in new recent photos and Im not sure any of the photos sent in were as racy as the originals. Half of them are like they went through thay de-whoring AI, and the other are hags.
>>
>>736228530
They could just have it as a pinup though. How am I wrong? It is NOT a propaganda poster. It is, at best, cosplay. If this was in a guy's locker or in some dude's wallet, or a letter from home or in a magazine then it instantly works.
>>
>>736228058
Crysis 1 came out in 2007, everything after that is expected to have "modern graphics". The water in that gave is just on par with what's expected of AAA games in 2008.

the cutscenes in tempest rising took themselves way too seriously and completely lacked any camp, even tib wars (non kanes wrath) cutscenes which took themselves way too seriously had some of the classic campiness that makes the series what it is
tempest rising had none of that, the chars and the story and the camp is what lacked, gameplay was great, still a must play for modern cnc fans craving similar gameplay, just yeah, not on par with the series
>>
>>736227770
Not really. You're making the same error as all those dev/publisher cucks: thinking the loud minority in xitter is anything but a loud minority.

By the end of the Soviet campaign I wanted to take all those Allied dunces, hang an "I'm a cocky retard" sign on their necks and parade them around Moscow

That character is one of the in-game commanders you do co-op missions with. The poster is the in-game equivalent of Patton posing for Playgirl.

I am saying to the average viewer it would just look like a lady dressing up as a soldier. If they had some actual information on the PROPAGANDA picture then you could give context.

It says right next to it that it's Commander Zhana Agonskaya posing for a Red Air Force recruitment campaign.
They are not showing the propaganda picture, they are showing the photo she made, that they turned into a propaganda picture.

That's the problem with you zoomers, you can't do any thinking to figure shit like this out, you need everything explicitly spelt out for you.

>Why did he do it, bros?
To get absolute power and no rivals. He starts out as a noname politician in the intro, then turns into premier with the time skip. Then he eliminates the doc behind the scenes (he's only shown as missing), frames Krukov, and has you win the war. At that point if he ever got any opposition within the party, they could all rally behind you, since you are the most popular person in the USSR for winning the war.

The same thing happened in real life to plenty of people in Stalins inner circle. It's a typical soviet thing.

it's so retarded how they didn't get any more hot asian girls for the japan faction, just the support girl
meanwhile both allies and reds get heroes (gina carano and that blonde bitch), generals (atumn and the girl in OP) and support (gemma and mad's gf in casino royale)
even the expansion adds more girls to the allies and soviets

RA3 did very well and is still played actively online today, same as Kanes Wrath.

What killed the franchise was EA deciding it's not worth making these games because they don't sell bajillion copies on consoles. They cancelled a third person shooter called Tiberium, Generals 2, and the only reason they still did C&C4 was cause they had an asia-only MOBA game that was nearly ready and could be repurposed in a short time.
Still surprised they managed to do C&C Remaster so well, apparently it happened because EA had nearly zero executive say in it, and it was developed by ex-Westwood people (Frank Klepacki had to remake at least one song for which the master was lost, he spent hours finding all the exact samples to do so).
>>
>>736236592
i still hold out some hope because PC and console markets are merging, and RTS had a bit of a resurgance, a lot of RTS are active enough online rn, age of mythology and age of empires 2 prospering etc
and the remaster did well
just maybe we might see another C&C before I die
>>
>>736236670
Don't forget that C&C3 and RA3 came out at a time when Blizzard was hyping Starcraft 2, and Petroglyph (ex westwood) was tapping into their fan base to do Universe at War which had fuck ton of C&C references (and then C&C3 KW stole the main characters design for the Zone Raiders). They also rushed the fuck out of all those games to beat SC2 to release.
Then they dropped C&C as a whole once SC2 came out.
>>
>>736236913
universe at war is peak, very cool game, although i never got the impression it was as high quality as sun or the ones westwood indircetly worked on like generals, maybe due to lack of funds

UaW had horrible performance issues that the devs handwaved away as DX10 being crap. Granted, every Westwood made RTS ever had performance issues if you got enough units, up to at least Grey Goo (I didn't play 8-bit armies). Remaster didn't but possibly because it's a 1996 game running with a modern rendering frontend.

Don't get me wrong, I played UaW a lot when it came out, but it just did not have as much stuff as C&C3/KW managed to.
>>
>>736237289
gray goo is prob the only nu-westwood RTS i haven't played
doesn't look that interesting desu lmao, does it have a good campaign
>>
>>736236670
Even with the resurgence, RTS won't return to the mainstream, not like they ever were mainstream. EA wont do shit with C&C, that's a fact, and buying the IP makes no sense. The best outcome would be for someone to recreate the formula, and DORF kinda fits but we'll see if/when it releases.
>>
>>736237380
It has a great campaign for what it is worth, it's also hard as shit if you don't take advantage of the strengths of each faction. Some of the size objectives are downright impossible to do on Hard mode (like the one where you rescue downed ships to find your AI under tree canopies). It's like UaW but vastly improved. Sadly it still has its original faults: unit cap and not having any features beyond 90s era unit spam. You can't even promote units. Online play videos were basically people struggling to get more than 3 units or more than 2 harvesters because everything was in a perpetual stalemate with nothing fucking happening due to the inability to build up forces or even repair units easily.

It does have a great backstory though! The Goo is a sentient self-replicating nanomachine run amok, that gets dropped on the Beta (alien faction) in a stargate accident and starts eating everything to grow. Then Humans drop in and the Beta fight both; thinking them to be the legendary Silent Ones who almost destroyed their civilization once. Eventually they come to an accord and fight the Goo together. Problem is, the Goo is not just a mindless drone, it's a space probe sent out by humanity to discover alien civilizations, and it found several, and it found them getting snuffed out one by one. So it repurposed itself to fight the "growing silence". This in turn is the DLC faction, the Shroud (the Beta call them Silent Ones), who are space parasites devouring all life.

I probably beat the campaign half a dozen times, I enjoyed it, although it really is balls to the wall old school hard.
>>
>>736238718
Tempest Rising tried to be that and it sucked.

I just want an RTS without unit caps for fucks sake where I can build ginormous armies. C&C3 has that and has absurdly good unit micro on top of it too. Crazy how no RTS game had that good controls ever since.
>>
>>736238863
tempest rising followed the formula too closely, ffs its identical even the plot is just scrin and tiberium, DORF does its own thing way more with unique resource chains and all that kinda shit, and hugely improved naval combat and amphibious shit, it does seem too ambitious to me so we'll see, but NTA, I actually still hold out hope for a mainstream RTS resurgance, we just don't know what'll happen
>>
>>736227820
People operate on vibes or feelings. The truth rarely feels good because it doesn't care about right or wrong only what is true. That makes people feel bad so they reject it.
>>
>>736238786
i'll check it out, might buy from a key shop, common complaints i see and from a quick gameplay vid the game looks too simplistic and incredibly slow, I mean, westwood classic RTS' were quite slow too for modern RTS standards, so i'll see if its just dumb complaints
>>
>>736239482
It has real old school gameplay vibes; if you liked the 90s C&C games you'll like Grey Goo. Again, my only complaint is that it's too basic, it lacks some modern features that even C&C had (unit veterancy chief amongst them).
>>
>>736238974
Dorf looks like Tiberian Sun but more ambitious. Nowadays I prefer playing Repterra instead (which is Red Alert 2 but you defend against waves of dinosaurs).
