So which do you prefer anon?
>>736229318I can't afford either of them.
Both are good games that play differently, I don't have a preference for either.
Bananza if the post-game wasn't paywalled
>>736229318Super Mario Odyssey because i like Mario more than Donkey Kong
banan
OdysseyWay more memorable worldsCapturing enemiesFar more variety in the ways you obtain Moons compared to Banana gemsBetter bosses aside from the final bossPurple coins are more cleverly hidden than fossils
Bananza is better because I like it more
>>736229318Odyssey
>>736229318Bananza edges it.
>>736229318Before trying these 2 games, my last Mario game was SM64. So I think I have the most unbiased opinion devoid of nostalgia goggles.Super Mario Odyssey was pretty ok, but not great, very inferior to SM64 so I was disappointed.DK Bananza was great, not perfect, but great. Loved the movement more, the story had more sovl and the references to past games were much better integrated into the story and gameplay. I give Odyssey a 6.5/10, and Bananza an 8/10.
>>736229318Both are perfect.
Bananza has way more stuffing, but brute forcing bananas felt like I was playing the game wrong
>>736229318I liked Odyssey more, the DK gimmick allows you to bypass too much of the levels. Sandbox design is lame, give me structured stages.
Sunshine.I'm playing Galaxy for the first time and I gotta say... I fucking hate the camera and controls. And the isolated galaxies being just a bunch of themed islands of content instead of a bit more coherent areas.Still better than MP4 though.
The trouble with Bananza is that everything that is fun about it has to do with the movement. Nobody who recommends/defends the game says "bro, you have to play this because smashing shit is so fun!", everybody recommends it based on the movement and tech and platforming potential. So the entire main gimmick of the game that the levels are built around is kind of pointless. They should have just stuck with a 3D platformer approach with a very mild element of destruction sandbox to complement the platforming instead of platforming as a complement to smashing. Odyssey on the other hand has better, more intentional level design and a main gimmick that is simply more FUN due to the variety intrinsic to the idea. I was still laughing at dumb retarded captures way late into the game vs Bananza where I was mostly rolling my eyes at the game wanting me to smash everything and not incentivizing my jump mastery with any kind of level design that would reward it. Having said that the final K Rool fight is kinda fun and a better boss fight than anything in Odyssey, actually felt like it would be kinda hard for the kid intended audience and would probably make them cry for their dads to help them beat it.
>>736229318Never played Bananza and don't even plan on doing so because every single gameplay footage of it that I've seen looks like fucking dogshit for toddlersSo, Odyssey wins
>>736234801>bro, you have to play this because smashing shit is so fun!"that's what people art launch said, and that's what I would say.
>>736229318Bananza's the dream game I've always wanted and it exceeded my expectations. Odyssey's great too.
>>736229318odyssey, I don't think the bananza gimmick ends up resulting in as compelling gameplayPauline is better than Cappy though, as a character
Ohhhhh zebraaa zebraaa zebraaaOhhhhh zebraaa zebraaa zebraaa
>>736229318They're both so good. I'm replaying Odyssey currently and plan to replay Bananza right after. Its impossible to choose.
>>736229318i'd rather stare at tv static, is that an option?
>>736234926>downvote arrows in a Nintendo game>explicit reddit reference in resident evilwhy are developers so obsessed with making games exclusively for reddit
>>736234926I can hear this mp4
>>736229318Odyssey hands down. I respect what Donkey Kong is doing, but the destruction mechanics are incredibly weak, the platforming is nice, but Odyssey has so much more to offer that was seemingly given up for the carving/breaking mechanic that other games do more meaningfully sans movement tech
>>736229318are all of nintendo's 3d platformers going to be korok seed hunts from now on? The skeleton of the game mechanics are good, but holy shit, I want a bunch of guided objective stars vs thousands of moons just lying around,
Unrelated but I figure people here will probably know. How do I kick my caffeine habit? Is cold turkey the best approach?
>>736235257Yes. enshittification above all else in the name of money
>>736235273Have Tylenol on standbyThere's 2 ways to go about it, both are easy with Tylenol/ibuprofin, both suck dick without.Either A) reduce the amount of caffeine you have every day until it's 0 and then go without for like 2-3 weeks, or B) just don't drink caffeine for 2-3 weeks.I can't have just half a cup of coffee so I went with option B, I felt like shit for a bit but with Tylenol at least the caffeine withdrawal headaches weren't such a problem
>>736235273idk eat bananas
>>736235257>I want a bunch of guided objective starsYou get those in addition to all the extra ones. I really don't understand this complaint. Do you just want to get kicked from the level every time? Or just reduce the moon/banana list by half?
>>736235147You're trying too hard
>>736235549Kicked from the level
>>736229318I was late to the party on Odyssey but I played Bananza near launch. Wouldn't say I loved either of them but I enjoyed Bananza more.
