You will objectively have more games to play if you learn Japanese.
>>
Most games have fan translations by this point.
>>
all you niggas always say "bruh learn japanese frfr" and never post a guide or anything, the message sounds condescending and arrogant which makes people want to distance themselves even more
>>
>>736237613
There are many guides, but imo they overcomplicate things
First learn the writing systems(takes maybe a few days)
Just flashcardmaxx(Anki is best but use whatever works, make your own if you want)
Once you understand enough basic words you can just learn from input, listen to Japanese, watch Japanese shows, anime, manga etc.
You will learn simply from that
And if you want to speak Japanese, you need to talk to Japanese people, there are many resources for that
You can find a Japanese tutor in italki for $10

Kill yourself trannylator
>>
and none of them have worthwhile writing
>>
>slowly getting better at learning kanji and words
>can usually interpret meaning from sentences, but idk how most words and kanji would be pronounced
this is a weird feeling. how do i get over this? i listen to japanese vlogs and stuff on the background but there's a huge disconnect between learning the sounds of kanji...
>>
>>736238535
have you tried reading?
>>
>>736237347
true. but if I don't have time to play the ones that are on languages I can understand, can't even imagine how worse my backlog would be by adding the japanese ones to it.
>>
>>736238639
i am reading primarily. it's just that even if i can derive meaning from what i read, i have no clue how i would read out loud what i've just read
>>
>>736238535
You have to listen a fuckton. Just listen to youtube videos, anime, podcasts, whatever, as long as it's by a native. That'll fix it.
>>
>>736238843
if you look up and get repeated exposure to words, the kanji sounds should start sticking automatically. that's how it works for me. you seem close to my level. do you not have an intuition of how this process works yet?
>>
>>736237347
shitty jrpgs and vns aren't real games
>>
>>736237613
It doesn't matter what you do to start. Just start

You could've just asked nicely.

But playing games in Japanese is the best way to avoid trannylator fanfiction.
>>
>>736237347
My favorite cope is "fan translations", which these days are mostly jeetGPT slop, and also so fucking slow. I'm out here playing games that came out on DLsite a day or two ago.
>>
How do I say "I'm working on it" in the most common Japanese way possible? 俺の日本語は弱い
>>
>>736237821
>First learn the writing systems(takes maybe a few days)
So far so good.
>flashcardmaxx
Hmmmm nyo.
>Once you understand enough basic words you can just learn from input, listen to Japanese, watch Japanese shows, anime, manga etc.
k
>And if you want to speak Japanese, you need to talk to Japanese people
Eh idk, just talking with people for the sake of learning a language doesn't really give much of an incentive.
>>
>You will objectively have more games to play
and this is a good thing?
>>
>>736242045
They are japanese games so, yea, most likely.
>>
>>736237347
Jap games aren’t good though
>>
>>736237347
I have enough with the 'learning to draw' penis exploding chamber to get into the 'learn Japanese' one too
>>
But I'm retarded and lazy...
>>
>didn't know a word of Jap
>still beat Zangeki no Reginleiv anyway

It's like an extra hardcore layer of difficulty
>>
>>736242709
You're hired!
>>
>>736237347
The same could be said about learning literally any other language if someone only knows one. I better not have to do this gay captcha again only to find out my IP has been banned.
>>
i tried emulating ziria on xbox but it crashed
>>
>>736237608
You said "most". I do not think you know what that means.
>>
>>736237347
How are there no AI apps that instantly translate on screen text?
>>
>>736244159
There are they just don't work very well
>>
>>736237347
It's great that Japanese is the easiest East Asian language in terms of phonetics and understanding it by listening, but I fucking hate kanji
>>
>>736237347
nihongo wakarimasen
muzukashi sugi
nankai benkyou shiyou to mo muda da
n2 no kuse ni hotondo genjiten de wa hotondo hanasenai

most games i like that are jp only have fan translations. BUT it is fun to see what has been lost in translation in my favorite games, jp only or not.
>>
>>736247047
did it break you?
>>
>>736237347
No thanks, white people languages only for me. English is already pushing it.
>>
>>736239727
Thank you anon really
>>
>>736247047
I played Mother 1 in Japanese a couple years ago and felt like most of the dialogue went over my head, now I keep putting off trying Earthbound or Mother 3 because I expect those to be even harder
>>
i will move to japan next year and learn japanese for 2 years and get a job. ご苦労様でした
>>
>>736241732
you can just say:
>やっています。
>やってる。
>doing it.

if you want alternatives you can say something like:
>私は、それに取り組んでいます。
>それに取り組んでいます。
>i'm tackling it
or something like:
>今やっています。
>今やっている。
>私は今やっています。
>now, i'm doing it.
or:
>今それをやっているところだ。
>that's what i'm doing now.

>>736247120
no because i'm not sniperwolf.

>>736247640
tbf mother games are hard in jp because they're kana only. a lot of kid games are like that.
>>
>>736237347
You can play japanese games without knowing japanese. Just press random buttons. That's what I used to do for games in english back when I was a kid and didn't know the language(it even helped me learn).
>>
how close are we to having a universal translator for games
>>
Name 5 that aren't tranimeslop
