But it's boring.
>>736240246Thanks for the reminder. I willBut I will play the real version and not that ugly trash
>>736240246would you believe me if i said i put this game on my backlog the week it came out, and i still haven't gotten to it?
>>736240246Remind me on an more meaningful anniversary year.

>>736240246Tell me how you named your FF6 characters, /v/. You did name them like the game expects you to, right?>Magic green haired gal is Irena>Blondie thief is Jerzy>Charming prince is Wacław>Monk prince is Szymon>Edgy ninja is Janusz>Noble leotard-clad princess is Alicja>Worthless shit kid is Seba>Honorabu commander is Antoni>Dashing gambler is Wincenty>Kupo furball is Kuba>Ambiguous mime is Maria>Big furball is Zdzisio
>>736240246I like FF6, but, boy, is it overrated. Undercooked characters, story is unfocused, graphics were bad even by the standards of the time it came out, and it was a bugfest, even though it was released near the end of the SNES's life cycle.

>>736243168I've always named all my characters their real/given names, I'm autistic like that, BUT if I were to re-name them on a new playthrough:>TerraGaia, twist on Terra and fits her green hair>LockeSinbad, a noble thief>EdgarSuavo, cause he's suave and it sound italiano>SabinPolno, he reminds me of Polnareff from Jojo >ShadowKagemaru, shadow ninja man>CyanBrad, reminds me of King Bradley from FMA>CelesAthena, greek goddess of wisdom/warfare>GauTarzan, for mostly obvious reasons>SetzerWheeler, like roulette wheel + Joey from Yugioh who uses luck>RelmAdeline, as in the painter girl from Kirby>StragoMerlin, as the old wizard>MogKUPO. Because KUPO
>>736240246God that looks ugly. Grab a fucking .cia for your 3DShttps://files.catbox.moe/5sb7rg.ciaOr do you want the GBA version perhaps???https://files.catbox.moe/bqa5xe.ciaJust anything but that nu-pixel garbage!
>>736243446>Undercooked characters, story is unfocusedSo this is actually just what JRPGs were always supposed to be. They weren't movies. You were intended to use the material they gave you as a starting point, and use your imagination beyond that. JRPGs were never meant to be "stories". They were meant to be "adventures". Yes, there's a difference, and if you can't understand that, you may be a retard. The original target audience of JRPGs in the 80s and 90s knew how to engage properly because they were generally the D&D crowd, who understood the appeal of using their imagination. Sadly, RPGs are now marketed to midwits who read teen fantasy, watch hollywood slop, and generally have the emotional intelligence of a toddler. And the only way to get anything across to that crowd is to jingle every single plot point, emotion, and objective in front of their faces like shiny keys in 4k ultra HD. The gameplay in between is just filler, now.To be quite honest, if you ever played FF6 and didn't see the cutscene that you can only get by backtracking to the Blackjack and talking to Cid as he's working on it, then you're a dolt. Everybody should have gotten that cutscene, because you should have used your brain and thought, "Hmmm, this imperial technician is going to work on Setzer's airship, and Setzer is obsessive about his airship. Maybe I should check on it...". If you didn't, congrats—you're a smoothbrain and old JRPGs are too smart for you.
>>736240246STACYles the HOPEFUL TANKED that fall
>>736244517Remember that 3DS has open_agb_firm, which is deprecated but useable GBA compatibility, which means it's better than any emulator you can find. I'm having a blast after putting the cia on my 3ds!!!
>>736244557>mfw after the game I realized I missed out on saving Shadow because I forgot to wait for him>mfw when I realize he has a really great backstory because I rarely (if ever) thought to sleep in an inn Shadow was my filter to realize I had to slow the fuck down and appreciate small details more and I think he's awesome for it
Why'd they get the concept art from that shitty Vampire Hunter D guy? His "style" looks like unfinished sketches and the portraits in the game don't fit SNES at all.

>>736244557>you should have used your brain and thought, "Hmmm, this imperial technician is going to work on Setzer's airship, and Setzer is obsessive about his airship. Maybe I should check on it..."this is something I've really noticed with old JRPGs, is that they kind of expected you to put yourself in the characters' shoes, and treat NPCs like real people. FF5 has a couple of cutscenes that really flesh out Lenna and Faris' backstory, but 99% of players miss them because they involve going back to Tycoon castle at certain intervals. People may cry "DURRRR, HOW WUZ I SUPPOZED TO KNOW!?", but the intervals are fairly obvious. The first is when you find the King's missing wind drake. The second is after you see the king and confirm he is still alive. The last one is after the king dies. It's pretty straightforward. Why wouldn't the princess(es) go back home to tell their friends and subjects about what happened to their beloved king, and ease the mind of the chancellor? His disappearance was essentially the catalyst for the whole game, but you just stopped caring? Why? Because the game didn't tell you to care? Sad.>>736244856It's true. People get too fixated on just getting to the next plot point that they forget to explore and inquire, which was always the entire appeal of JRPGs. It's also why I'm confused when people say FF6 is some kind of cinematic masterpiece because it really isn't. It's all about how willing you are as the player to get invested and pay attention to the little vignettes of hope that you're being shown.
>>736243168>tell me you're polish without saying it
>>736244517The pixel remaster can be modded with the original sprites and a lot of other fixes that easily elevate it the best current version. As far as emulation goes, N3DS is low tier given the quality of the screens. And the GBA versions are junk. Even if you patch out the horrid color palette and music instruments, the sound is still scratchy compared to the original samples and the resolution is lower

>>736244557>I LIKE not knowing. Then why do anything? Why even play a game? Especially a fucking RPG. If I'm not experiencing some kind of cultivated story with actual characters and a plot, then I might as well just be pressing buttons like a monkey. The fact that you defend this idiocy so vehemently shows me how much of babyrage you nerd you are. There can be NO flaws with the things you liked as a child. Even the stuff that is UNDENIABLY shit is actually good. This culture is so fucked. Art has no chance in this world.
