AHEMFUCK DRAGONS
>>736242454Don't mind if I do!
>>736242583Um, that is your mother
I only played her route and none of the others. In the beginning it was weird because at that point there was simply no reason for Byleth to side with her, because she just says out of nowhere the church is le evil, why you say? Just trust me bro, they are. Now let's roll. OK. The fuck? But anyway, throughout the whole game she seemed to be completely truthful to this and had no bad intentions, truly believed in making the world a better place, and Rhea did act like a fucking psycho at the end but I often wonder if that was just done to help players feel better about it, not sure. She even wiped out the true evil people off screen at the end lmao.

>>736242639>>736242865She's actually your grandmother and your daughter.
>>736242865Agreed
>>736242969She is the sexiest grandmother-daughter in gaming that is for certain.
>>736242779Rhea only really goes off the deep end in the BE route. In every other route she's more or less fine. She obviously still has trauma regarding the events leading up to Sothis's death, which is why she flips out during the whole church schism part of the story and completely loses it when Byleth joins Edelgard, but otherwise she's just leading the one organization that does charity work. You can make arguments against the 3H church, definitely, but "set the whole continent ablaze" is not an appropriate action to take.
>>736242779So the theme of this game is allegedly perspective. Outside actions have more complicated internal justifications and in war everyone has blood on their hands. Rhea runs a theocracy that deals harsh retribution towards rebellion but at the end token Rhea has seen horrors that justifies her kneejerk reactions. Dimitri believes royalty is both a duty and a service so when he witness his family and friends get murdered in what he knows for absolute fact is a false flag operation, his need to avenge them and bring justice to the murderers literally drives him insane. Claude. But in the case of Edelgard, her deal is that the classic Red Emperor role of waging war against literally everyone might actually be for the goal of uprooting a shadow war that has plagued the continent for over a millennium.... except, most of Edelgard's reasoning has really sketchy logic to it. One example: she correctly surmises that the church story of Crests are a lie but then incorrectly says the church was tacitly complicit in her torture. And... no. The church hates the Crest nobility system. They only defend it insofar as it keeps the Heroes Relics out of the hands of muggles because then having then will create a wave of monsters. The goal was to keep the remaining humans from hunting her remaining family. The Church hates Edelgard's torturers too. If they knew where they were, they'd help her kill them. But the problem isn't the hypocrisy, everyone has a little of that. The problem is that other characters are willing to admit to it. Edelgard is not and while Dimitri and Rhea are begging forgiveness for their wrongs, Edelgard is squealing at rats so you can catch her and not apologizing for getting your father killed in that half baked plan she started.
