Was Nier Automata that good?
>>
jacking off isn't video games

no but 2b is hot
>>
Yes easily top 10 games ever written and probably near the top end. The anike expands on this a lot. Yaro Taco made a straight masterpiece and is a genius when it comes to writing. Platinum engine was so perfect and fluid with every type of combat it was almost a surreal experience. There's 0 games like it.

its one of the most boring games ever. generic environments, same boring button mash combat vs same generic enemy over and over and over and over again. garbage boss fights too. literally gooner game and thats all it has.
>>
>>736249959
yea if you like shitty open worlds and mmo quests and replaying 2 hours of content over and over just to get the full stoery

I think the lore and world is quite compelling but the story itself is a contrived clusterfuck that doesn't really have any sort of actual conclusion and it relies on tons of external information is that optionally or not at all covered in the game and even with all that it's still not very good or satisfying. I think the first game has a much better story.

It's fun to slash through machines but the RPG elements and especially the difficulty is very poorly implemented (either never die ever because autoheal chip or get one shot by bosses, no middle ground)

Music and atmosphere is great though, overall it's a solid 7/10 game but I will never understand people treating it like a masterpiece especially when the flawed gem of a first game did so many of its elements better.

I think you mean stellar blade
>>
>>736249959
no, animations and character designs were good, story was ok, everything else, pacing, graphics, gameplay and enemy design were dogshit

If you really want to make yourself depressed, realize that even if we ever build robots so advanced, they will be ugly as fuck because of political correctness and westoid's inability to create anything sexy

I finished 2b's route and was pretty satisfied, then they wanted me to replay the entire game as the twink. That's where I dropped it.
I'd say its an ok game but definitely not worth spending $70 for like 6 hrs of content.

the forced hacking combat is so lame too

this, hacking shit was worse than the dogshit 2D arcade shooter sections
>>
>>736249959
yea
a !little! overrated, and by little i mean from "literally the best game ever made" to "a very great game with some of the best music in the industry and a very nice story"
i still need to do the last side mission
>>
>>736251874
>>736252101
There are very few segments where you're actually forced to use it and they're generally just little narrative segments
>>
I hate that even after Replicant got remastered up to "fix" it's combat. People still only talk about Automata. Which is a worse game in literally every aspect (except maybe the chip system is kinda cool).
>>
no actually, it's good but it's very overrated. respect where it's due for paving the way for Stellar Blade though
>>

Based Nier 1 enjoyer
I played it first and with all the praise surrounding Automata I was expecting the ending to blow my socks off the way the first game did but even harder and all I got was a giant wet fart
>>
>>736253698
I played Gestalt and Papa Nier still holds a place in my heart. Even if the uh cutscene animations can sometimes feel really out of place. Just liked the scruffy father wanting to save his daughter archtype.
>>
>>736249959
Yes.
It's one of the most engaging, atmospheric, emotional and beautiful games ever created.

I replay it once every few years.
It's practically the Ocarina Of Time or Silent Hill 2 of its generation.

>the story itself is a contrived clusterfuck that doesn't really have any sort of actual conclusion and it relies on tons of external information
I don't agree one bit.
Also, you seem to be ignorant of the game's much more important sub-text, that ties directly to our life, to us people living here and now.

The game's a truly deep meta within meta level commentary about humanity.
>>
>>736255412
>Also, you seem to be ignorant of the game's much more important sub-text, that ties directly to our life, to us people living here and now.
That's a separate concept from story.
That's the stuff I do enjoy about the game, the state of its world and the atmosphere and its message and the things it makes you think about your life and world, but the story itself is really bad. Project Yorha is a huge complicated mess and there's really no conclusion or reveal at the end, especially in regards to who the red girl is and what's going on with the machine network or anything like that. Coming from Replicant I was expecting some big final reveal that ties it all together and explains everything but there was just nothing.

I think you are just a bit thick, and expected way too much spoonfeeding to boot. Stuff like the N2 are damn well explained.

Also, I bet you didn't care about the backstory of the world and the characters in NieR 1, that is a direct sequel to Drakengard, now did you ?

Exactly: the main STORY of all DrakeNier's is that of the characters' personal journey, which are all just tiny tales in the overarching lore.

>I think you are just a bit thick, and expected way too much spoonfeeding to boot. Stuff like the N2 are damn well explained.
The fact that you just resort to calling me stupid instead of actually making an argument leads me to believe you're the thick one here. The full history of what Yorha is and why it was created is not in the game, you need the story from the fucking Japan-only Yorha Boys stageplay to fully understand how and why it was formed and even then it's kind of a contrived "okay, sure, I guess" explanation. It's nothing even remotely as coherent as Gestalt being "a project created to save humanity by doing X Y and Z"

>Also, I bet you didn't care about the backstory of the world and the characters in NieR 1, that is a direct sequel to Drakengard, now did you ?
If you actually read my posts you'd see I'm praising Nier 1 and the reason I don't like Automata as much is because it fails to do the narrative stuff as well.

>The main STORY of all DrakeNier's is that of the characters' personal journey
I would say the first game is more about the world events and how they happened and what they mean for humanity while also still being about the characters' personal journeys, and Automata is almost exclusively about the characters' personal journeys. I think it's flawed because it doesn't really cover the former much, and a lot of the latter isn't handled well either (2B's character being vague and unlikable until the final route ending reveal which I think is shit pacing, A2 being a completely vapid character unless you know the pearl harbor side story or happened to stumble upon the terminal logs of them, etc)

my ass probably would've turned into a shade

What about the rest of you? Surely your ass Shadow would have an issue with this arrangement.

almost like the entire idea of sb was to copy nier

I'm glad I was born with the ability to like multiple things at once, I have, played, and enjoyed both Nier Automata and Stellar Blade.
>>
What will happen when the Nier Automata servers shut down and no one is able to get the true ending anymore? Is the message supposed to be that the characters will die once we stop caring about them? Like how humanity still lives on through the androids and its records? Am I overthinking it?
>>
>>736262390
Stellar Blade wishes it had half the depth of Nier.
>>
>>736266248
>What will happen when the Nier Automata servers shut down and no one is able to get the true ending anymore
what are you talking about
even when it first released people that pirated could just use cheatengine to make it work as normal
>>
>>736267841
Nier wishes it had half the depth of every other Souls style game.
>>
>>736266248
It's a meme ending anyways, it doesn't really matter
>>
>>736249959
Recent video with 2B sucking off a dog is really good.
