Is this game any good without mods?
>>
>>736263879
no
not any good with mods either
>>
>>736263879
it's very mid without mods and the combat is unsatisfying
>>
>>736263879
GOAT
10/10
>>
>>736263879
needs more diversity, big yikes
>>
>>736263879
Yep, still very good. Mods are mostly there for rebalancing or reducing some of the grind. I'd actually say if you specifically want to just play the story then the game is better modless
>>
Saying that Skyrim, being almost 15 years old, aged poorly in the same breath as that zoomies can't play older games is retarded and contradictory.
Just in case someone wanted to bitch about it.
>>
>>736263879
It is my favorite game of all time without mods, I have been playing games since the SNES. I own Skyrim on PS3, PS4, PC Original, PC Legendary, PC Anniversary, Switch. This is the only game I would recommend to 100% of people.
>>
>>736263879
Every game should be played vanilla
>>
>>736267016
I can second this, but more so I believe that modding is best as part of the post-game experience
Speaking as a KSP, Minecraft and Skyrim player.
>>
I think it's perfectly fine without them, though your mileage will vary concerning stuff like Insta-crashing in Soul Cairn without a fix of some kind on PC at least. There's also some weird bug where the blood-skaal sword puzzle won't work if you take ages to go to Solstheim.
Other than fixing stuff like that I never bothered beyond the Random Start mod and that thing's been unsupported for years
>>
>>736263879
Yes but might as well install a modpack, even if it's just a purely visual one.
>>
>>736263879
It’s not good even with mods. The only thing it has going for it is the porn.
If you’re after gameplay, you’re better off playing Morrowind, New Vegas or even Fallout 4.

File deleted.

Went modless for a long time. Then I wanted a cozy canton waist house in Morrowind. Made it and thought that maybe mods were good for something after all.

Todd…
>>
>>736263879
No, the gameplay is terrible.
>>
>>736267541
No, but I used to look up to him. Starfield is shit, there are zero redeeming qualities to it. But Skyrim is still the only perfect game to have ever been made.
>>
>>736263879
No
>>
>>736267649
I refuse to believe you can simultaneously have the opinion that 1) Skyrim is perfect and infallible, and 2) Starfield is unredeemable dogshit.
There is a LOT of overlap between the 2 games, whether you want to believe it or not. NPC's act the same way, the stories are both retarded, the systems are lackluster, and the mechanics are dull and boring.
>>
>>736267156
>>736267458
I forgot to type every FIRST playthrough should be vanilla
>>
>>736263879
the only skyrim mods I need are the unofficial patch, vanilla purist's mod, and achievements enabler
>>
>>736263879
No, once the novelty of things wear out, there are only so many thousands of draugrs you can kill before you are bored to tears.
The quests don't matter much since they all lead back to draugr tombs in some way.
>>
>>736263879
it's excellent without mods or DLC, it's a perfect 10/10 game vanilla that only gets worse with mods, addons and DLC.
>>
>>736263879
Yes. I played Skyrim on Xbox 360 for like nearly ten years just making random characters and stuff to play out stories. Most of them I never started the dragon quest so dragons wouldn't show up fucking with loading. Did have the DLCs but nothing further. Limitation gives you creativity.

Funny enough, a decade later when I finally got an insane gaming PC, I modded the shit out of Skyrim to make it the ultimate experience then never played it.
>>
>>736266821
it's absolutely worth a playthrough without mods
mods only come into play when you exhausted all your options in vanilla which takes quite a few hours
>>
>>736267983
Skyrim had Jeremy Soul music and viking aesthetic. A lot of people dont actually give a shit about gameplay or a good story but they want a cool atmosphere and presentation, we call those people Skyrim fans. Starfield could be better in every conceivable way but if walking around an empty planet doesnt give them atmospheric fee fees then its not as good as skyrim, simple as.
>>736263879
Honestly OP i would recommend you try it. I think the game is unplayable without editing killcams and other death aniamtions but maybe thats my OCD
>>
>>736263879
it's alright but I think you need to set your refresh rate to 60 or else havok physics will freak without display tweaks
>>
>>736267983
There is one massive difference you retard. Skyrim is medieval fantasy and Starfield is based off something that never existed in the first place (((space))).
>>
>>736263879
For my first playthrough ever, about a year after that game came out, I did a playthrough with just armor mods for each race, that dont break the games balance with their stats, and the one mod that adds a bunch of new finishing moves.
Had a lot of fun for a while but as I was approaching a 60 hour mark, I started wondering when is this shit going to end?
Finished it and never played it since.
>>
>>736263879
It's pretty fun even if it has very noticeable flaws that haven't aged well like >>736263981 says. I can't explain it very well why I like it so much despite it having so many things I dislike but it's a comfy ass RPG and the world is fun to explore.
>>
>>736263879
>Vanilla: 500hrs
>Modded: probably dozens of hours in setup and 1 hour before I've seen all the mods and close the game
>>
>>736263879
no. the only redeeming qualities about skyrim have nothing to do with the game itself

>music
>art direction
>world visual design

the actual game is fucking dogshit. abysmally dogshit writing, no RPG mechanics to speak of, and very little role-playing opportunities. the writing is the worst part. every single aspect of skyrim's writing from the main story to the guild quests is just awful. thankfully bethesda actually proved to everyone they are capable of writing even worse than skryim by releasing shartfield.
>>
>>736266821
Why do you like it so much? It's so glitchy and breaks easily
>>
>>736263879
Not the beginning. You have no introduction to any magicka used to restrain you. You just watch your fellow inmates executed. You lay your neck down like a fucking cuck. You don't even get to fight back.
Terrible beginning.
>>
>>736263879
Skyrim is the GOAT of RPGs
>>
>>736263879
The exploration and atmosphere is what carries the game, and you don't need mods for those. If anything that will probably make things worse. At most get the unofficial patch for your first playthrough. It has some shit that I do not care for, but the good outweighs the bad.
>>
>>736263879
It's a rare case where the game is only good without mods. All the mods for this are cringe and break immersion
