But the real problem with fighting games is they're too punishing for mistakes. One mistake could very easily make you lose a match. Even "hard" games like the Souls series are, on balance, pretty forgiving for mistakes. Very few genres are as punishing as fighting games, and the ones that are also struggle with popularity, like twitch shooters.
