Why don't tauren get their own 10-20 zone? Why are they just shoved into the barrens with orcs and trolls? Mulgore is injun plains kino, then you got booted out into desert mudhut orc shithole.
because they're breeding sows
>>736269909What is it about classic that gives off a different worldly feel to it? Is it the size? Is it because its not afraid to leave wipe open spaces to give a feel of a vast land?Because when i play retail, /spit, everything felt so fucking cramped, big and bulky.
>>736270052i think your brain is clouded by nostalgia
>>736270135Errrr, no? I've played retail, i've played classic, without hours of each other, the feel is there, it's different. You're talking bollocks.
>>736270052The way each zone is basically a basin ringed by mountains, and the way it renders distant heightmap terrain as a foggy silhouette against the unnaturally un-foggy skybox is fairly unique.
>you will never raid mulgore and bring home a tauren wife
>>736270052warcraft had extremely talented artistsparticularly the use of color and proportion
>>736270052big open zone with no mount makes it feel huge
unfinished game was unfinished
>>736269909cause Horde zones were made later than Alliance zones and they were on a crunch to release it by the time they got around to it.
>>736269909I always thought the barrels was just a golden grasslands like the great plains
>>736271668>barrens>BARRENs>grasslandsanon...
>>736271668>the barrelsI laughed harder than I should have
>>736270052In classic (and BC to a degree) the world was designed first, then populated with mobs, then quests were made around those. This lead to a more real feeling, fleshed out world design. From Wrath onwards, the areas were designed with purpose and planned out ahead, so every place on the map has a reason to exist.
>>736270902It's a shame not many games visually like it are made now

I played dragonshite, and it was like, turn left something is there, turn right, something else, etc..so crowded.
tauren is cut content the race just like gnomes.
>>736270052newer WoW feels very linear in its design. The zones are basically just taking you from one place to the other as you quest, like you're on a theme park ride. Its more accessible that way, but its really different from how it was in vanilla. The zones were big and open and you get some quests that have you going around killing the enemies.
>>736272356I know Vanilla was designed that way because of The WoW Diary book. The philosophy clearly changed sometime around BC/Wrath.
>>736269909They have the coziest zone and city, another zone would just be unfair to the other races.
>>736272356>>736272569>>736272630It's all about removing any resistance and letting players just glide through the game to maximize subscriber count.
>>736272569ironically "theme park" was one of the original complaints levied against wow by the EQ crowd
Touch the COW. Do it now.https://catbox.moe/c/qhf29j
>>736269909>Why don't tauren get their own 10-20 zone? Why are they just shoved into the barrens with orcs and trolls?Because they live in the Barrens you retard
>>736272569i have ALWAYS hated the criticism of classic wow about how the quests werent linear enough. I liked the little breadcrumb quests like go across the world and do this. My most memorable questing experience was getting that fey dragon pet without using a guide.
>>736271982The great plains were called a barren desert by the first explorers, I just figured it meant it was barren of farmland, buildings, etc. Also it's covered in grass all over the place, and the ground texture is grass except by the roads
>>736272569it was a theme park from the very start of vanilla when you bounced from quest hub to quest hub. the game which inspired wow the most -- everquest -- was more grind-oriented when it came to gaining experience.
