If you played an old game via a modern recomp, did you beat the game?
>>
>>736284668
Better question, have you even touched either?
>>
Who fucking cares?
>>
Zoomers and earlier don't care and millennials are entering the age where only the peak 0.1% most delusional still think video game achievements matter.

>Yougest Millennial is now in their 30s
Holy shitstick on a chinese hooker, that's wild
>>
>>736284668
This looks like a man who plays without save states.
>>
Is this the dude who twittered about how you didn't beat the game?
I wonder how often he even has conversations with people telling him they beat a game from 1989

What's actually wrong with save states though? A game should be fun, if I struggle then I save state until the part that makes the game unfun is over with, then I keep having fun.
>>
>>736285117
Pausing between intervaults like say, in a battle to plan ahead easier. It's such a stupid complaint though
>>
>>736285117
probably spam pausing an emulator for puzzle games.
>>
>>736285135
If you had fun, you didn't beat the game.

A 80s-00s thing
Old knock off controller sometimes had a slow button which basically meant the game paused and unpaused every frame so it was like playing in slow motion.
Especially useful for old games without pause screens like SMB
Still a pain in the ass
>>
>>736285091
>fastforward -> you beated the game
Not true, if you don't have the patience to put in the effort, you didn't beat the game.
>nuh uh I could totally learn to play the piano, it's just too annoying and grindy!
Uh huh.

>pause scumming-> you didnt beated the game
If it's pausing/sleeping the device to continue where you left off instead of having to start over from wherever a hard reset puts you, maybe. If it's pausing to think or analyze the screen like in a falling bricks game, then no way. It's something you can do in the game, the developers should have prevented it if they didn't want players to do it. Like hiding the screen when you pause for example. The player's job is to use every advantage in the game world to win.

I care.
...what were we talking about again?
>>
>>736285212
I remember having a third party genesis controller with a "slow" button. That became a saying among my friends that someone "turned on the slow button" when they were inebriated past a certain point.

>His bitch still stays with him
sounds like he's doing everything right

What's she playing at the start?
>>
>>736285135
nta, but save states subvert the intended difficulty of the game. Imagine playing re1 with save states. That's a core part of the game eliminated. Same thing with using them in a game like sm64, where you don't save until you beat the level, it makes everything way too easy.
>>

>until you beat the level

Power star, whatever. You know what I meant.
>>
Using a save state like a pause so you can go do other stuff is perfectly fine as long as you don't reload it twice under any circumstances.
>>
Zoomers are too stupid for old games. Have seen a lot of threads about zoomers trying Half Life or Half Life 2 for their first time and they can't solve the easiest puzzles in those games.

making up more scenarios in your head, millenicuck?
>>
>>736284862

Oldest zoomers are aslo in their thirsties, milleanials are pushing fucking 50, lol it feels like they were in their 20s yesterday and now they are almost elderly
>>
>>736284668
A recompilation is an attempt to get the original game's code working on a PC. I'm sure zoom zooms consider it "quality of life" to give the player twenty times more health and remove all the puzzles, but they're generally as close as possible to a port.
>>
>>736285064
This is such a retarded boomer take that makes me cringe every time I see it
Why are older generations so hellbent on being bootlickers? Those games were't hardcore gamer hard, they were unfair to suck your wallet dry of quarters
>>
Nobody gives a shit you ancient ghoul.
>>
>>736284668
uh, yes? unless you used some mod to make the game easier.
