Do you think we ever get a sequel or something comparable from another dev?Or was this really one of those truly special "once in a lifetime" indie games?
>>736294223It didn't sell a lot because it hard filtered retards so i doubt we'll get anything like this again
>>736294261Barbuta really did filter many didn't it? I found it charming, the difficulty is really overblown too
this is Derek Yu's best work and Spelunky 2 is super overrated
>>736294891UFO 50 isn't "Derek Yu's best work", it was developed by multiple different authors and the games that Derek was the sole developer on are some of the worst in the collection.
>>736294223>Retro Game Challenge, but not good.
>>736295081>Oldfag Jap Challenge*yawn*
how many did you cherry?I did 15 and parked it, i might go back eventually. A sequel would be good, it can't really go to later console generations as n64 forwards weren't so eccentric/pastichable
My favorites were the horror adventure game, Ninpek, and the first person dungeon crawler.
>>736296048i cherried all of themcyber owls and onion delivery took me the longest
>>736296407> all of themdear lord. What would you want to see more of?I felt Campanella could have done with a harder optional level set. Once you master it, it doesn't ramp up in difficulty enough
>>736295081For me it's the period-correct poor translations of shit like "Guadia" (Guardian) and "Haggle Man" (Haguruman -> Gear Man). Love Retro Game Challenge. UFO 50 fucking sucks ass.
>>736296841>What would you want to see more of?Games like Mini&Max or Avianos were really cool conceptually but felt too short/unfinishedMore weird janky games like onion delivery could be fun tooA game like Ninpek but real arcade length, as it is it's fun but too easy and short
>>736296841Not that anon but I also cherried all 50 and the ones I feel deserve sequels or more content are Barbuta, Campanella, Rail Heist, Pingolf and Mortol 2. The rest are still mostly fine games but didn't leave me wanting more or aren't unique enough that they can't be substituted for some other game that already exists.
>>736294223>ps5 release q4 2027Wha the fuck is their problem
just give me party house deluxe
I want more Mortol and Golfaria
>>736297940>Golfariawhy
I still need to finish it eventually but I hate arcadey games and games with no saves.
Why is >>736295081 posted in every UFO50 thread? Does he feel like UFO50 insults Retro Game Challenge or something? I liked Retro Game Challenge. And naturally I liked UFO50 too. But honestly, I don't even feel like the games are all that alike. It's honestly not a strong comparison.
>>736294261steam revenue calculator estimates it earned over 5 million bucks, and that's not even counting what it sold on the Switch
I got filtered by Bug Hunter cherry
>>736294223i really hope we get a sequel, but its wishful thinking.a game of the same quality and scope would take another decade.
>>736299119It's some fag who's never played the game who reposts it to push people's buttons. And it's not specific to this game, it happens in more than half of the threads on this board these days. Just (You) farming trolls and culture war shit-stirring, nobody here even plays games anymore.
>>736295081>>736296963man that's some blatant samefagging
>>736299947I bet if they hired 50 people and had them all work on one game each it they could knock a sequel out in a year or less
>>736299984It's Arino himself posting here.
>>736300045i would personally love to see derek yu's indie sweatshop
>>736299834I hate Bug FUCKERbullest shit in the entire collection
>>736299119RGC's sequels were never translated, neither was the compilation of RGC 1+2 on the Switch. Yet UFO 50 was reviewed by many publications and has weekly threads on /v/. This is despite the fact RHC better captures the era in which the games were released. There is feel the devs of RGC lived through the era, which is absent from UFO 50. The latter emulates the vague aesthetic, but is more influenced by later times.
>>736294223Didn't this take ages to develop? I doubt it. It's great though.
>>7363002958 years iirc
>>736299834how? it's just one-man fire emblem
>>736300353Jesus christ. Yeah no. Something to the scale of 50 nearly complete feeling retro games is something I'd like to see again but it won't be for a while.
>only recently got sucked into the meta/terminal stuffthis game definitely my 2024 goty
>>736300483>that one bitchy girl co-worker that kept bullying him and calling him milkdud
>>736294223It seems sort of pointless to play this if you haven't played a bunch of 8 bit and 16 bit era games. I certainly admire the work and creativity put into this game, but if I were to play this type of game, I'd rather go back and play the originals.
>>736300285the 2nd game has a fan translationhttps://www.romhacking.net/translations/2217/
>>736299119I dont even notice those posts because I don't know what that is or care to learn what it is
>>736300045that would produce a lot of shit. The pedigree talent and craft behind ufo 50 was pretty highlots of thought went into each/most games
>>736301172>The pedigree talent and craft behind ufo 50lol. lmao.
>>736301041I wish someone would translate the switch rerelease. Most of it is already done you just need to pull the scripts from the 2 DS games and import them. The new game they added doesn't have that much dialog.
>what if sunsoft was created by insufferable people in California What a sad premise for a videogame
>>736301041Thank you for the link, but I already knew of it. Hopefully other anons will try it out, and see what a sincere attempt for a compilation of retro-styled games is. What an honest attempt to comvey feeling of a person who played the games when they were released looks like.
>>736300779the whole point is its modern gameplay theory / takes built with old techold games were pioneers of gameplay
>>736300285>This is despite the fact RHC better captures the era in which the games were released. And RGC is also completely missing the feeling of modern indie games that UFO50 has. From that perspective RGC is a complete failure. Is that unfair? Maybe. But UFO50 isn't trying to be or come across as authentic retro games. And you've had this explained to you time and time again in past threads. UFO50s entire deal is, thematically, is that UFO Soft were a group of devs with a lost to time games system, that had a bunch of games that were "of the time" but more importantly, ahead of their time. In UFO50s narrative, UFO Soft was for better or worse, odd. But the games were always meant to feel like indie games. That you view the game as bunk because they don't feel like authentic retro games is real fucking weird when you keep crying about it in every single thread. You might as well cry about how Mario Golf doesn't feel like playing golf.
