What do you do when the games magic wears off?
I play a different game
>>736294730>just like, make your own fun! it's the responsibility of the developer to design situations that are fun, aka game design
>>736295034this, I don't know how to have fun, video games are specifically designed to provide fun and they expect me to create my own fun after I paid for it???
>>736295327This guy said it. If it's not challenging, why bother?
>>736295034I bet you're the kind of person who wouldn't go up some stairs because an NPC told you not to
>>736295473If an NPC tells you not to go up stairs, it's a challenge. This is a case where there's no stairs nor NPC.
>>736294842Why is it that anytime this image gets used its always accompanied by the most braindead retard post to exist?
I played Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl for the first time when I was 35 years old and got completely immersed, unable to stop playing for weeks until I had completed the whole trilogy. The magic doesn't wear off, you just run out of good games.
>>736295709Stalkers magic wore off for me after call of pripyat came out.
>>736295034Arguably it goes both ways. There is level design and there are mechanics yes, but the player is still making some choices about how to experience them. The most obvious example: an arcade game that allows you to continue infinitely if you pump more credits, but the game is also designed around being beatable on 1cc, and there are well-crafted scoring mechanics. If you really don't want to engage with the latter parts, that's absolutely your fault here. There was some responsibility on you to "make your own fun" indeed, and the devs gave you the tools for it.
>>736295815self-imposed challenges are one step away from speedrunning and being trans
>>736295928The challenge is developer imposed.
>>736294730Wait, that's backwards, the left is supposed to be lit
>>736295973And yet, it's not. Ponder why.
>>736295928>le troonsNot an argument. There is nothing inherently wrong about self-imposed challenges, and doesn't even apply in this case.
>>736295995It was intentionally swapped to confuse and troll people and make /v/ look dumb?
>>736296021Will the novelty of jumps and dives never wear off for you?
>>736294730ironically I find myself RP walking in games that I enjoy
>>736295418Maybe he should have told his employees that then we would finally get a fun Nintendo game
>>736296074Will the novelty of using wasd or left stick to move never wear off for you?
>>736296074What >>736296214 said
>>736296074You have never played a game you actually love. I wish I didn't because it was live service and is dead now, so I can't play it. When you actually love a game, it is like an SO, you do not get tired of them, you love them and want to spend all the time you have with them. If a game wears off for you, its because it wasn't a game you truly loved. There is no counter to this argument, because it is the inherent truth that many people cannot accept. Good day.
>>736296831Incorrect.
>>736295815Yeah, developers of coin-munchers wanted you to only spend 50y on their cabinets. They LOVE going out of business.
>>736295034ok sheldon
>>736296961Good luck actually getting a 1cc by only playing once.Negative IQ reply here.
>>736294730i stop playing
>>736295665aquaposter is indian
>>736296868>No argument.I accept your concession. I hope one day you find true love.
>>736297973Your premise is false. Bad games don't hold up, and most games only have a limited novelty. If you truly love a game like that, you have developed a complex from material beyond the game that or do not engage enough with the game.
>>736295327>>736295418actual NPCs
Which is completely fine
