How do you make Space games not boring?
>>736296565Hot alien women and sex (with them)
laser sharks that swim in space
Starfield is tons of fun and it's only going to get even better with the FREE LANES update on APRIL 7TH,See you in the sea of stars, Starborns!
>>736296565give each gamer a lifetimes supply of ADHD pills
>>736296565Sex and hot female aliens. Thats the only reason Mass Effect was popular
>>736296565actually, Space is boring too. it's not the problem here, YOU are.
>>736296565Just play no man sky they are at least trying to make a good game.
>>736296565Kill nasapunk forever.Your space media should forever look like the 1st alien movie and nothing else.
>>736296565Blue alien space babesMake the backstory actually relevant Green alien space babesMake the controllers of areas matter
Don't let Bethesda make it.
>>736297280They didn't go far enough with the nasapunk
>>736298106TRVKE
>>736296565Don't make 90% of the planets procedurally generated using like 10 presets with barely anything to do on them.
>>736299079This alone would nearly be enough to “fix” Starfield. I’d also argue that one city per planet is kind of insane.
Planets, space itself is boring. Classic scifi swashbucklers understood this, most of the action is planet-based. >>736297083Not one of the No Man's Sky fixes has made it fun for me. Maybe if it wasn't like super easy to make money I could play it as a economic game.
The only even semi-realistic space games I enjoy basically turn space into the setting for economy and logistics games.Eurotruck with window dressing
>>736296565only one star system
We did, it’s called freelancer and it was fucking great. Also ksp but that’s a different thing
>>736296565I still want to buy this when it comes out on ps5, is it seriously worse than fallout 4?
>>736296565By not placing EXACT copies of dungeons everywhere lol.If you kill the sense of exploration, then it's over.
You just copy Freelancer.
>>736301359>>736299906>the best space game ignores anything about space entirelyReally makes you think
You make space travel a glorified menu and then you have a few interesting handcrafted locations where the player is actually running around doing shit.
>>736296565Don't falsely advertise.Starfield marketing implied that space was going to be a big portion of the game. Yet it only exists as a halfway point between fast travelling to locations for the first time.
>>736301652Well yeah, actual space is kind of boring. Huge distances, basically just trade and industry, so you need to shrink it down, have mechanics for planet/system hopping, have points of interest that aren’t particularly realistic… imo the one thing freelancer lacks is much verticality, a lot of it is mostly across a 2D plane which could be better
>>736303150There's mods that add verticality and it sort of makes it a mess. Same with Everspace 2, which has a ton of stuff on 3D planes and it's a piece of shit to navigate.
>>736296565hardcore survival, billion PoIs, sex with crew while ship is on autopilot
>>736296565By turning it into a fantasy like Star Wars
>>736296565A toddler could have fixed starfield. 1. Changed the scope to one starsystem, perhaps the first colonized one away from the Sol System. 2. Hired new writers, Starborn lol.
>>736303251Funny enough the new cruise system seems to be what Everspace 2 was doing.
>>736303681it should have been hard scifi since he went for that nasapunk whatevereverything falls apart the moment you add 100 star systems. even worse when game is supposed to be about exploration but all that space is already full of space bandits and abandoned stations, there is no "unknown" to explore. it's just skyrim in space
>>736303880It wasn't space Skyrim, that's the problem. Skyrim is all hand made and has a bunch to explore.
>>736304069the think is it's neither space exploration game like they said, neither skyrim. it sits awkardly in the middle and completely fails as either of themI don't mind procgen exploration but it needs much more than 1000 procgen planets and outpost crafting
>>736303150Space is like sailing but even more "boring" because you're not actually in too much danger relatively, you're not being hit by waves and being thrown about. The thing is though, it's only boring because it's a game, you're not actually living it, there's not much for you to do.Space Engineers "solves" this in a way because while flying through at 100m/s (with mods for faster speeds), you can be building your base, upgrading, expanding shit. The down time can actually be doing things. You can be building a mega drill for when you find a material, expanding your farm, building missiles with warheads to kill NPC ships, building s mining ship, prepping a ship to enter an atmosphere, expanding your solar farms and so on.And on top of that, you can also "fast travel" if you build up the resources.Back to sailing, in a sailing game travelling can be fun because you're controlling the wheel, you can angle and catch wind, you can have storms and waves knock you off course. An example of this is Sea of Thieves, ignoring all the PvE and PvP, even just sailing is something with little down time.
>>736296565Make one where the Nazis won and they fight an evil jewish like alien space empire.
>>736303387>sex with crewGergel Ebanex has you covered>while ship is on autopilotWait about 4 more days or use Astrogate
>>736301359everspace 2 did this and improved on it and nobody cared
>>736304895Oh wait, that mod's probably going to be broken for a while
>>736296810See you in the river of sewage, saaar!
>>736305071Everspace 2 is neither an improvement on Freelancer and it's only a copy in that it's a 6dof fighter game that's unrealistic. Everything else about isn't Freelancer at all.
>>736296565Massive scale space battle
>>736296565Good art direction.
>>736305178>>736305071How is Everspace 2? I've only ever heard negative things about it.
>>736305420I bought it and refunded it because i thought it was very very boring.
>>736305420There's stuff to like about it but it's bogged down in a lot of anti-fun looter shooter mechanics and a lot of repeated tedium.
How is X4?
>>736305921Autism incarnate as always. If you've played an X game it's more of that.
>>736296565not base the story on multiverse shit
>>736296721this + unhinged minigames attached to futuristic techany space or cyberpunk game should be a nonstop flurry of distractions and novelties that you have to pierce through to get anything meaningful doneif you can't achieve that just choose another genre
>>736304895>>736305104yeah if not for that I would unironically reinstall
