If I were an armchair analyst, I'd say Nintendo needed a much stronger launch lineup. You'd think they'd have learned that by now, but no. Mario Kart World didn't end up being a "must-buy" like BOTW was, or Mario 64 back in the day. Maybe the next mainline Pokemon game will help. I'm not an analyst, though, I just play games. I'm loving my Switch 2. I mostly just play older games. Castlevania Bloodlines, Breath of Fire 2, Mario Picross, and Luigi's Mansion have all been great so far. I know I could have emulated them, but NSO is dirt cheap, and I hate bringing my PC to the living room to play with my family. Kirby Air Riders is the only "new" game I bought, I think it's good but a bit un-interactive. Like, a lot of stuff happening, but not a lot feels like I'm actually doing it.

The combat is the most fun I have had with a Pokemon game in decades because it is fast and snappy. I've come to learn that I do not care for turn base pokemon system, besides the stuff I grew up on being Pokemon Red thru Black and White era, because it is extremely boring and like Yugioh where whoever goes first wins. Z-A is Xenoblade like and reminds me of. Tri-Ace game with the experimental combat, you all should play Resonance of Fate to see about how combat can be interesting and fresh. Over all, 10/10 game imo and way better than anything they have done since the 3DS era.
