Are there any games that have something like zenkai boosts as an actual mechanic? Not like it happening in the story, but like getting the shit beaten out of you actually makes your character stronger after recovering. Do any DBZ games even implement this as a mechanic?

You actually are tougher AS you're beaten up, but you rarely appreciate it during it happening in Kenshi and it's more about surviving, healing up and then reaping the rewards of that.There's plenty of games where you're tougher or stronger -while- you're extremely hurt but lose the benefits as soon as you heal up. pic related for example. Then you can use him to body change with Freeza or even with SSJ Vegita.Also Gohan has a hidden SSJ level that was not implemented in the game. I'm not sure how you get him, either by cheats only, or by going up to level 48 before you get the Saichoro powerup which normally just boosts your levels by three or something.
