How is it that RCT came out in 1999 and it's STILL the gold standard if your autistic hyperfixation is rollercoasters?
>>
Wasn't planet coaster supposed to be good? I haven't even tried it though, ORCT2 seems good enough to me.
>>
>>736307217
it's okay but not very great

How about Parkitect?
>>

have not tried, but in general do prefer the more simple 2d looking tycoon games. maybe it's nostalgia but feel like everything is simpler to see and do
>>
RCT is easy to get into and play, has a lot of simulation depth when you start gitting gud, and the pre-rendered aesthetics are top notch.

Everything else is either ugly, too simplistic, or gets too autistic about the wrong sort of gameplay mechanics.

I played this one as a kid on the ds
It's not as good as RCT but it's the one I like to come back to

The problem with these games is, literally, they're 3D. The editor is too finicky in 3D space. RCT's 2D isometric editor simply is the best way to create roller coasters.

also at least personally in planet coaster i do not like the ui. not very good to use
>>
It’s a mystery to me why RCT is so good. I think that in terms of pure gameplay mechanics, Parkitect is basically an improved version of classic RCT, but even so, RCT feels more satisfying for some reason. It must be because of the 2D isometric view.
>>
>>736310791
i think the 2d viewpoint definitely helps

You just discovered the unquantifiable unit of "soul", anon.

>if your autistic hyperfixation is rollercoasters
I do not understand the mechanics behind such a fixation

Let's see them designs, /v/.
This one is easy because it's the strongest wild mouse coaster variant

I wish I could get theme park world/sim theme park working on a modern PC
>>
>>736313041
VM?
>>
>>736313260
That might work
I should really get around to setting one up again
>>
>>736313351
Tf you mean it "might work", you didn't try that already? You had an ancient game that wouldn't run on modern Wintranny 11 and your first thought wasn't "why don't I install an ancient OS that can play this"? Go do it nigga idiot.
>>
>>736313512
I've had bad luck with VMs
Also I'm on windows 7, not 11
>>
>>736314565
ask openclaw to do it
>>
thrillville was alright
>>
>>736307609
Parkitect is honestly better than RCT in every way. I guess you could argue that the low polly art style is worse but that's a "your opinion" argument.

mr bones got nothing on this

The pink dress girl with the bird was cute.

And yes I did jack off to her.

Yes and no. Art direction is a bit of an opinion. RCT def has stellar look to it. It's funny how even despite all the shops and stalls being predecorated there is never a time when they look out of place or too naked.

Modern builders have almost to much focus on decorating. RCT doesn't have a lot of props when you really look at it. it's mainly basic peices and sprinkels of specific themes. Meanwhile PC and parkitect have TONS of theming and decorating plays a huge roll in both games. RCT shops all have their own decor while PC you pretty much HAVE to decorate every single shop and bathroom.

However I think it's the games pace and speed that what keeps people coming back. RCT feels oddly fast paced compared to Parkitect and Planet Coaster. Like I rarely have down time in RCT while others it always feels like there needs to be a bit of time for what you just built to take effect, reap the benefits and move on to the next project. The focus of RCT is building coasters while PC and Parkitect are more focused on sandbox decorating.

Easily explained, PLANET COASTER SUCKS AT CREATING CUSTOM MAPS. I can't fucking believe that Frontier is still doing the Thrillville style small lots of land instead of being able to buy out land in any direction you'd like. Also the land scaping tools are ass. If I could have Planet Coaster 2 with RCT3 landscaping I'd never return.
>>
The building sell mechanics make learning how 2 coaster a pain in the ass.
I make a coaster and it fucking sucks then I have to lose something like 20% of the loan just fixing the thing before it even opens.
Thank fuck rides autoclose when they need maintenance because my Son of Beast ass coasters would definitely get my park shut down.
