It was a mediocre game they forced you to play 4 times. There was not enough variety in the level design, difficulty or team abilities to warrant making the player go through that. Speed form was always the optimal choice, and the other forms where only need to solve a brain dead puzzle or engage with the shitty, damage-spongey, combat. It also wasted the opportunity to have character have charming dialogue with the characters and instead they yell over each other and point out basic observation on the environment.

It also came after SA2 which had better game play, level design, story, variety, upgrade system, replayability, introduced some of the series favorite characters and had the Chao Garden.

I've gone to my local arcade with Sonic adventure 2 art on the walls, there's shirts being sold on steady hands with sonic adventure 1 and 2 art on them.. There's just so much less going on with heroes.

Its got a lot of Soul but the controls are worse and the games kinda grinds you down due to each team being a glorified difficulty slider rather than a unique experience.

I think it be the best Sonic game to remake though. The levels and concept is solid it just needs more time in the oven.

People just want run in straight lines like they did in sa2, so they automatically have grievances with the health bars and forced combat despite being able to clear most them in about 5 seconds if you know what you're doing. But it certainly wasn't helped by the post game requirement (it really easily could've been get all emeralds with 1 team OR just finish with all 4 teams), special stages, bugginess, the 4 team's stages being too similar, and fucked pinball sections AND rail switching. It just has a lot going against it in general by its rushed nature and one of its two level designers collapsing during development.

Even with all that shit it's fun and one of the easiest 3d games to just pick up and play. I'd ask for a remake but I have no faith they'd even make a game as good as the OG Heroes

This was my return to the Sonic franchise back in the day and...it's alright. Just alright. I remember Rail Canyon being straight up dogshit as a stage though. That and the Team Chaotix missions sucked. Has some good stuff like Mystic Mansion and the Egg Fleet. Metal Sonic being the big bad was pretty cool. Could've done without needing to beat every team to unlock the true final end, just collecting the chaos emeralds should've been enough. And whoever said Tails and Knuckles shouldn't go super with Sonic should lay on the ground with their legs spread so I can stomp their nuts. Fuck you I still remember the disappointment.

I cleared it 2 or 3 times back in the day. I like how it was loosely structured like the Genesis games, but the execution on the team mechanic's on and off. Chaotix was there as a mixup when the other 3 were basically easy, normal and hard mode, take or leave what that meant. Honestly though, I think Shadow's basically this game but a touch better, consolidated a lot of the team mechanics and had a more ambitious, if not chaotic structure.
