ever refused to play a game because you didn't like the way a character looked?
Interesting question. Mostly if it's a character I like and it's being raped like DMC, Crash or Spyro
>>736314776nah, I only avoid games whose dev teams tell me I'm not their target audience
>>736314776Gay
>>736315154so you're saying representation matters
>>736315429reading comrehension matters
>>736317038that's fanart.
>>736314776Yeah, I don't play boomer shooters where you play as a woman because half the fun for me is spamming voicelines and hearing one liners and the delivery of a woman just doesn't work for me. For some reason in the last decade the majority of boomer shooters have featured women...
I don't play games with a femoid protagonists.
>>736314776>ever refused to play a game because you didn't like the way a character looked? Many, many, many times. I think the most common reason for me to reject a game is if I don't like the characters.

Returnal would have been a decent game if it was just a faceless, voiceless character
>>736314776Reasonable. That said, the game is actually pretty good.
>>736314776yeah, Hell Pie. And I usually buy all the 3D platforming sloppa I can get my hands on.I even got it for free either on either Epic or GOG and I still haven't played it
>>736314776Absolutely.Aesthetics are a core value to me.
>>736314776There was a fighting game with the characters from My Little Pony. I don't care if the game is fun, I will not play it.
>>736322383Them's Fightin' Herds? Technically not based off the show, but clearly inspired. Enough so that posting images from it gets you banned.
>>736314776plenty of timesI do not buy furshit
>>736322482Before that, they made a game actually about My Little Pony characters. Apparently, they decided they'd like to make money off their work. I won't play either, though.
>>736322150I can forgive character aesthetics far more easily than world aesthetics. Your character can be relatively unappealing to me but if the world itself captivates my interest then all's not lost. Pseudoregalia's actually a decent example of that, I don't care for Sybil but I like the dreamlike world aesthetic enough to pick up a controller and play it regardless.
>>736322920what's the studio name so I know to stay the fuck away?
>>736322482Fans were making a fangame called Fighting is Magic, but Hasbro forced them to stop. Then MLPFIM's own creator Lauren Faust joined the fan team to create new characters, so that game became Them's Fightin' Herds.(There was also a separate project, Fighting is Magic: Tribute Edition, that ignored Hasbro's legal whining to complete that as it was intended.)
>>736323524I have no interest in the horse show, but kneel to such autistic dedication regardless.
>>736314776yep.
>>736322920There's a suspicion that Hasbro acted because the fan game was just too good, so it was making the official licensed game look bad in comparison. It was some grindy pay-to-win mobile slop by Gameloft.
>>736314776Can't say that I've ever played a video game that was truly, horrifically offputting to me.
>>736322383>>736322482>>736322920>>736323339The first game was called Fighting is Magic, the devs Mane6 went on to make TFH after they got DMCA'd by hasbro. TFH got shut down and Mane6 laid off about a year after they were bought by the publisher Modus. The devs got hired by Gameplay group international, who also bought the rights to TFH. I believe the team is currently the ones making the new Avatar fighting game, though not under the Mane6 name.
>>736314776yeah I'm really bad about it. Like I didn't play FFX because the main characters pant legs were unequal in length.Dropped mass effect 3 in like 2 minutes flat because I hated the new walking animations. Still haven't played Pathfinder because you can't walk.I have a lot of OCD rules that if a game violates too many of, I walk.
>>736323339Mane6. At least it's easy to tell they made a game about horses.
