Why do people prefer Mario 64 to this masterpiece?
>>
>>736321253
m64 is easier
>>
>>736321253
They're both really good.

I had a copy on my old PS1.
>>
They're gay
>>
>>736321253
Nintendo Fans (I like to call them NintenTRANNIES) only play Nintendo Slop.
>>
>>736321253
> people prefer Mario 64
Crash is basically oot for mutts so /v/ does generally prefer crash actually.

If Saucy replies it’s a good thread hope you’re doing well family <3
>>
I prefer Crash 2
>>
>>736321617
You too man, I'm just here eating shit.

What can I say, I love to eat.
>>
>>736322129
How many years have you been here just curious
>>
crash 1 sucks
2 and 3 are the good ones
>>
>>736322176
I think I started posting in 2005 at the earliest.
>>
>>736321253
I like both because they're very different. Mario obviously has deeper gameplay systems, but Crash has superior visuals and atmosphere.
>>
>>736322178
Very very bad taste
It's practically the perfect platformer, sorry it doesn't have enough gimmicks
>>
>>736321253
It's way more restrictive gameplay-wise, has some shitty platforming that is trial and error, feels slippery but can get used to it, has no momentum to his movement, has very limited moveset, collision box and model do not match as well as they should and the camera angles are shit for the platforming at times.
It's still an enjoyable game but it's obvious this was made by a more limited team.
>>
>>736321253
crash 1 is a very basic reactive platformer, there's basically no skill expression, you complete the challenges the game lays out for you with basic jumps. even crash 2 and 3 only really offer the slide jump to mix up your game, which while a great addition doesn't really change the focus from just doing reactive platforming. mario 64's move repertoire and environments give you a lot more room to optimize and play with the mechanics.
>>
>>736321253
Nintendo fans are kinda autistic and don't understand character. Therefor games like Crash and Sonic with actual characters don't resonate with them as much.
>>
>>736321253
>>736322178
>>736322086
2 > 1 > 3
>>
>>736322220
Based I salute you always love seeing your posts.
>>
>>736321253
the movement is much more liberal and freeform. Crash levels are great but the pure linearity of them paled in comparison to the 3d sandboxes regarding novelty and innovation of the time.
>>
>>736323178
Crash has aged better because Odyssey clears 64 and it’s ilk at this point.
>>
>>736323370
>has to compare it to other games in franchise and bring up "progress" of said series just to compare
Look, I don't know what you want with that comment, even if I agree that Crash aged better because when it did try to evolve nobody liked it, that doesn't make Mario 64 any less king.
>>
literally just depends what mood I'm in. They're two very different games.
>>
>>736321253
I can understand enjoying Mario's open levels more than Crash's corridors even though Crash is a better game. I cannot understand enjoying Mario more than DK64 or JFG or Banjo.
>>
>>736322178
they're the easy ones for babs.
>>
>>736322651
Mario 64 is THE game that elevated Mario to a properly voiced character with specific mannerisms.
>>
>>736323961
I can't speak for dk64 but banjo specifically has more lumbering movement with a lower ceiling for optimization.
>>
>>736323961
it's more fun to move around as Mario. Nothing really matches the satisfaction of long jumping onto somethig.
>>
>>736323991
that's only relevant if you don't go for gems.

Because Crash is a garbage series and the furthest thing from a fucking masterpiece. To put in a perspective that you can understand, Crash is dead and Mario isn't.
>>
>>736324235
Crash is dead because Sony are dopes who don't know how to exploit a popular mascot.
>>
>>736321253
crash is just short of being an autorunner
>>
>>736324367
Keep telling yourselves that Crashfags.
>popular
>>
>>736324593
in the 90's yeah. they dropped the potato while it was hot.
>>
>>736324561
Patently false holy shit your positioning matters so much
>>
i like both games for different reasons
>>
OP here, it’s kinda crazy but the bell ring ding! sound effect from Crash is the same as in Family Feud. I’m playing it rn and my mom and her bf are watching Family Feud outside it’s crazy.
>>
>>736325080
Valid
>>
>>736324561
>Every 2D sidescroller game ever made is just short of being an autorunner
>>
>>736324367
This.
>>
>>736321253
Mario 64 is nice fun and the levels are diverse. The levels in this are jungle, more jungle, more jungle, jungle ruins, evil lab
>>
>>736326794
>diversity is our strength even if the gameplay and level design is worse.
>>
IN THIS THREAD ABOUT 500 POSTS WILL BE POSTED BY RETARDED MIDWITS ABOUT HOW CRASH 2 IS LE BETTER
>>
Because you can long jump and do somersaults and shit in Mario. Crash had to wait a game to have cool moves.
>>
The real question is, why do people prefer Crash over Spyro?
>>
>>736327432
Crash 2 is in fact le better. In every aspect
>>
People don't realize Crash and to a lesser extent Jak overshadowed Mario and put him at a level of irrelevance he didn't fully recover from until Mario Galaxy in 2007, even Sonic didn't do that
>>
>>736327854
Crash 1 is pure platforming fundamentals. Crash 2 adds some shit that makes it more fun at first glance but in reality moves away from the very focused and tight design of the first game. Crash 1 flows better and is more fun to replay.
>>
>>736328174
The slide in Crash 2 is basically a complete reinvention of Crash's ideology. It changes everything, as you will approach each jump wondering if the gap needs to be slide-jumped. 1 is perfect as is, because the devs iterated long enough to achieve a platformer that could compete in the Japanese market, which was otherwise fucking impossible. They figured out the American platformer. It's a perfect blend of playable cartoon and excellent game.
>>
>>736328174
>Crash 1 is basic
>Crash 2 adds shit that makes the game more fun
Glad we agree
>>
>>736324561
>he doesn't stop to jump on the bounce crates
soulless
>>
>>736324160
Three decades later and they still haven't topped or even matched the feel of Mario 64's movement. What the fuck are game developers doing aside from pushing for better graphics?

Crash died out while Mario stayed consistently good and relevant, Sony's fault for letting Crash go 3rd party and lose quality, they should've bought the IP and made it big on PS2 aswell, though Sony gave up on the whole mascot platform thing, until Little Big Planet, and then they gave up on it yet again, Sackboy's just as dead as Crash and will never return.
>>
woah
>>
>>736321253
Crash 1 was shit, 2 was cash tho. 3 is ok
I'm still mad Sony wasn't able to secure this franchise and make it their Mario.
>>
>>736327747
Spyro is gay and not a rad action platformer
>>
>>736327747
very different games. spyro is more of a collect-a-thon.
>>
>>736324593
It literally rivaled Mario, each title probably sold as much as 70-80% as Mario 64 did. It was legit big as Sonic was at its time.
>>
>>736324561
>when you gitgud you can autorun so why even have control over your own movement? Just press a button to jump
You realise how braindead that is, right?

>>736328826
>Sony gave up on the whole mascot platform thing, until Little Big Planet
Wasn't that just lightning in a bottle by a British studio that wanted to create a brown protagonist and play in India themed levels that had nothing to do with Sony?
I still don't understand why they gave up on him or sold the rights or whatever, I thought he was a golden goose
>>
Do we like crash twinsanity still or no

Honestly wish it got remade and not 1-3
>>
Honestly Pepsi Man was a better game than Crash Bandicoot.
>>
Why do some people dislike Crash 1? Yeah, it's a difficult game. So what?
>>
>>736329364
its visuals and animation are less polished and it doesn't have the slide jump. it's the equivalent of season 1 of a sitcom.
>>
>>736321253
They're basically polar opposite styles of platformers.
>Crash - basic movement, hard levels
>Mario - more advanced movement, piss easy levels
Mario games can be completed by even the most retarded 6 year old, so they have wider appeal. Outside of a handful of speedrunner autists, the vast majority of people who play platformers don't want any difficulty out of their games.
>>
>>736329486
>visuals
Crash 1 looks amazing for a PS1 game from 1996
>>
>>736328812
while that might be true, I think in the 8th gen, second half of the 10s, you started to see devs who at least had the basic idea of why 64 was good and we're trying to replicate it.
>>
>>736329725
and Seinfeld looked amazing for a sitcom in 1989. doesn't change what the hindsight perception became.
>>
Wrath of Cortex fuckin sucks. It's so dull
>>
How would you rate the original three games? I replayed them all last year. I remember playing Crash 2 a lot as a kid, and a bit of warped, but I'm not sure if played the first back then. Anyway...
2 > 1 >>> 3
>>
i like both but in retrospect i probably prefer crash
