I think this is an interesting potential new (?) genre, with WoW SPP being more popular and actual simulation like picrel. People play mmos more and more solo and potentially with more powerful cpus and even ai we could have an offline mmo with practically all the benefits of the online one.
>>736323006I like the premise too. It's not like a lot of people don't pretty much play MMOs singleplayer anyways. I really liked Runescape back in the day. Cool quests, lots of content and unique areas, but grind and monetization always drags down otherwise neat live service games.
>>736323006But will it have authentic bots everywhere?
>>736323006>early access into the trash it goes
>>736323006>Single-player mmoliterally not possibleit's in the name
>>736323006This is what I liked about Hollow Realization so much. The world world is built like an mmo and all the systems are actually referenced in the game's story. Even the npc allies all learn how you play to an extent and react to your gameplay like you're playing with a real party.A fully realized version of that would be awesome.
>>736323006>single player massive multiplayerAh yes, my favorite genre. Single-player multiplayer. I love playing with other people playing with myself.
>>736323006so basically crimson desert? and from what ive heard you just grind similar to a regular mmo.... literally whats the point of single player mmo? i mean youd probably have a better time playing modded skyrim anyways
>>736323006been on my wishlist since end of 2023. still only goes 20% off. god I hate digital storefronts.
>>736324332>literally whats the point of single player mmo?Reliving nostalgia for a period of time and social circumstances that don't exist anymore + it's a neat idea for a game.>youd probably have a better time playing modded skyrim anywaysNo, that's completely unrelated and also shit.
>>736323006I want more MMO-like games that focus on coop instead of a shoddy MMO experience. For example TERA combat would be amazing in a coop loot game.
>>736323006I like the concept more than the game itself, the combat is just too simplified I get it wants to spoof something like everquest but if you want me to spend hours in a game like it's a real mmo then it needs to have a bit more involved combat than press 2 buttons, WoW SPP is a much better alternative at this point for me at least
WoW repack with modules that allow you to clear content with the party size you want is pretty nice.
Xenoblade Chronicles XGenshin Impact
>>736324350Today it got much cheaper at keysiteshttps://gg.deals/game/erenshor/
>>736323379it does have bots who make fun of you for your low-tier class and underlevelled gear, yes
>>736324858>Genshin ImpactNot offlineAlso fuck off gachafaggotnigger
It’s boring. What makes MMOs special is interacting with real people, flaws and all. Even if AI NPCs seem human, you would still treat them like disposable bots because you know they aren’t real. Also only 35+ yo boomers get the appeal because they actually familiar with the problem that these games are trying to fix.
>>736323454Wrong (as usual for pedantfaggots). The name implies "single player" as a modification of "MMO", so naturally it's a game that resembles an MMO but with only one player. The meaning is perfectly clear. In fact there's really no other way to concisely express the concept.
>>736324931idk man for a 3 year old game thats $20 base. $16 is a bit too much. I realize i'm being a jew but I actually expect to pay around $10 for it.
>>736325110I'd personally call it "MMO Simulator" or something. But I have no problem with what they chose.
>>736324997>you would still treat them like disposable bots because you know they aren’t realthis is how I play real mmo's too
>>736325110>massively multiplayer onlinedescribe to me your single player offline version of such a contradiction
>>736325182Based
>>736324997>horror games can't be scary because they're not real
>>736323547is this game like xenoblade 1?
>>736325221Why? You already know exactly what it means.
>>736324997>It’s boring. What makes MMOs special is interacting with real people, and that sums it up, mmos are inherently boring because of the grind and basic gameplay which revolves around pressing a lot of buttons, but interacting with people is what makes it fun
>>736323454blocks you're path
>>736325272Because you're basically just thinking of an open world RPG
>>736323454Ffxiv is about as single player mmo as you can get, you can even use npcs for raids now
>single player MMO>people mod it to be co-opheh
game related, pseudo mmo boss rush game where you control two characters.https://store.steampowered.com/app/2166690/Savage_Ultimate_Boss_Fight/
>>736325221>>736325343Obvious troll is obvious
the heroes journey everquest private server let you have 3 classes on a single character and play solobut then they sued it and shut it down and now they are copying their idea (everquest legends) and you have to pay them a subscription for the same shit
>>736325443I played it and it's very meh, controlling two characters at once just doesn't work very wellhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2132850/Rabbit_and_Steel/Haven't played this one personally but seems more fun
>>736325221Post your IQ score.
>>736325467>trollit's called ragebait uncbut i'm not even ragebaiting, you're literally thinking of Crimson Desert
It wasn't REALLY an mmorpg but guild wars 1 reworked into a CRPG would, as they say, "slap"
>>736324978sneed
>>736325598read 'em and weep
>>736323006I started shouting slurs and obscenities in chat and got banished to a GM prison
>>736323547how's the PC version? I tried playing the vita version but all the text and buttons were so tiny, making it a pain to play
>>736325443Seems interesting but also like a pain in the ass to control two.>>736325559Rabbit and Steel was great. A lot of fun in both solo and coop. Though it's a bit annoying how RNG it can get whether you get a good build going or not because there's so many items in the game.
>>736325548EQ's IP holders got smart letting the pserver community figure out what gets players and then steal it lmao
>>736324997MMOs are boring because they have big empty spaces which they expect to fill with players. If there are no players then, wow, suddenly it looks big and empty. You can fix this by either adding roaming bot NPCs or making the world smaller or adding more stuff to see, points of interest, etc.
>>736325343In many ways, yes. But it is more specific than that, as you know. Look inside yourself and you will find the answers, anon. If you can defeat your own autism, that is (unlikely).
>>736325419The NPCs are only for casual story content so people can skip the queues. If you want to do anything more than easy difficulty you need other players.
>>736323006It takes a special kind of autism to want to play a MMO checklist game by yourself full of other bots
>>736324332The point is to make your own character whose not the main character but instead just one little part of a greater world. Everquest called it "third space", where you have your job, your home life, and this persistent world you log into. Same for all your companions, them being not the same ones other people have but instead unique people with their own lives. Sadly, most modern MMOs don't even try to offer these things and are pretty much multi-player RPGs.
>>736327350Plus we already have OSRS for that.
The real problem is everyone hates real people now. A society where we all want nothing to do with each other. Zoomers have no idea how insane that is until about 16 years ago.
>>736324790Qrd?
>>736327931This is a trend that dates back to the 60s. In short, increasing diversity correlates with increasing lack of interest in socializing with others. The internet was briefly a respite from the diversity, but then that changed too so now the internet is just as cold and unfriendly as real life. The internet is probably actually even worse than IRL now because the entire fucking world is on it. https://www.wcfia.harvard.edu/publications/downside-diversity
>>736328171It just makes sense.>put a bunch of middle-class white male American fantasy nerds in a room>they find stuff in common to talk about>dilute it with people of different classes, races, genders, and interests, many of which are in opposition to one another>no one has anything in common to talk about, it becomes the social equivalent equivalent of a waiting roomThat said, anonymity was also always gonna kill the genre. At first people acted according to basic social rules, but as soon as people realize they can get away with shit the quality of the community starts decaying into trolling, drama, and ERP.
>>736323454Massive Single Player Offline RPG
>>736325182Your the problem
>>736328647All CRPGs are for massive single players.
>>736328647elona/elin qualify
>>736323006>we could have an offline mmo with practically all the benefits of the online one.But literally the only benefit of MMOs are that you're playing with other people.
>>736328950Why are you playing games that you don't like?
>>736327973nta but they're probably talking about azerothcore, there's scaling and player bot options for it, you'll have to know how to set up a server but it's pretty customizable once you get in to it, cmangos is another options, it's bots are much worse last I checked but it had some scaling features as well and you could carry your same character over to BC or WotLK
>290+ hours in ErenshorHell yeah dudes it's such a BALLIN' game. I'm in the raid waiting room.
>>736328632>At first people acted according to basic social rules, but as soon as people realize they can get away with shit the quality of the community starts decaying into trolling, drama, and ERP.it spawned a whole type of gamer who act like total pieces of shits online because they don't have the balls to act like that in real life
Don't really consider it a new genre. Plenty of open world games already have the feeling of a single player MMO like Kenshi hell if you look at FFXII that game basically is a single player version of FFXI
>>736329416Thanks lad! Also anyone know how Everquest is with bots? Are there any with autonomous bots doing their own thing?
>>736323006My first experience of this was with kingdoms of amalur and it was garbage
>>736331698that game wasn't that bad I fuck liked the class weapon system they had the only game I recall with fuck chakrams weapons if you didn't like it you won't like fable etc.
>>736331698I wouldn't say it was garbage but it absolutely screamed mediocrity. Ironically it was basically a giant advertisement to get people into an actual MMO for the Amalur setting that never came out because the studio went bankrupt because apparently the game was illegally funded by some politicians from Rhode Island.
>>736329846Is it good bro? I'm a big fan of old mmos, most of my life ages 13-15 was playing Dark Age of Camelot, and sometimes other mmos I would beta test randomly during and after. I have only play a little bit of p99 (when they released the green server few years back) it was okay but I was too busy irl to focus on it. Is it worth it now or should I wait for release? Tired of dealing with modern assholes online in mmos now...
>>736333624Yeah, as long as you're into what it offers. The dev played Everquest so that's largely what the game is modeled after. It's not a themepark like WoW or most of its clones. All of the simplayer AI text was written by the dev. I think this month is the one year EA anniversary but the dev worked on it for four years before EA release so it has ~5 years of work already. There's literally hundreds of hours of content already.
>>736323006Sounds really fucking gay. The whole draw of MMOs is the social aspect. Without that social aspect, you've just got a regular RPG except really empty and lifeless.
