Gameplay wise it was a big improvement over previous gens and it gave me my all time favourite pokemon (in a non-lustful way), Volcarona. And in retrospect is has only gotten better. It's really a "we didn't know how good we had it" situation because everything past gen 6 has been garbage.That said my least favourite gen is gen 3, not counting anything past gen 6.
