>>736338271games like this generally need some kind of underlying plot and likable cast so they can keep a concurrent playerbase. having someone come in, make one purchase of the character they like, play for like a day or two before bouncing is great for a revenue boost but terrible for keeping long term customers. if you have a strong original cast though you can get people checking the game out to want to stick around because in the time they played it they end up getting attached to them also.the issue is fortnite's story is also just fucking terrible and all its characters fucking suck, and its incoherent, scattered across eight years of updates, and physically unplayable anymore since the game lacks any kind of proper singleplayer campaign (StW doesn't count either, since its an entirely different continuity that stopped getting story updates several years ago)it makes sense why people would WANT original shit to at least not get glossed over but fortnite really already fucked that opportunity so its absurd people pretending to give a shit about the blue haired bitch thats awful and so unlikable even the fucking collab characters make fun of her for not having friends
