Post roguelikes, I want to try a new genre to play
>>736335314NETHACK
Spelunky, Slay the Spire, and Nuclear Throne are the holy trinity of the genre
GAUNTLET
>>736335417NethackDCSSAngbandTOMECDDAAll worth playing>>736335447this post is bait, fuck off
>>736335558why is it bait though
>>736335558OP didn't specifically ask for turn based roguelikes. Chill out broski.
>>736335872sorry when he said "roguelike" I assumed he meant "games like Rogue" not "bad games for trannies"
Is this the "40 y/o childless failure asks for suggestions to bitch and cry at" thread?
>>736335314I played Fatal Labyrinth all the time when I was a kidBut then I played Castle of the Winds and by far preferred it
>>736336342seems like a little projection there tranime fan
>>736336541based as fuck
>>736336551have some children o algo thoughever albeit doe
>>736336630yikes you really took offense to those games being bad huhsorry about your tranime habit
>>736336541is it more fun than fatal labyrinth
>>736336541I loaded CotW up on some websites with old DOS/Windows games the other dayIf you're going to play a caster, you have to find the right website, because the VM has to be configured in a specific wayIf it isn't, spell projectiles will take a very long time to travel to their destinations
Do you mean roguelike as in games that are like Rogue, or what zoomer tards started calling games with randomized runs?
Into the Breach. Probably my favorite game of all time now.
>>736337314GAMES THAT ARE LIKE ROGUEDoes Fatal Labyrinth not count? Does it fall in the faggot category you mentioned?
>>736335314i hate roguelikes but i think ffx2 last mission is considered one of the best
>>736337408lol why
>>736335314demon by ferretdev's pretty neat
Doors of trithius us the direction I wanted adom to go. Low fantasy, overworld travel with food rations, basecamps and expeditions from your home base. Very comfy. Great UI.I played it 2-3 years ago or more but the quests were very basic at the time.
>>736335558how do i find CDDA enjoyable if im into Angband and Nethack, all this survival stuff feels annoying, i just want dungeon crawling
>>736338692It's not that bad to get past the survival aspect and start doing whatever you want. Kinda similar to how you may have starved a lot in Nethack at first.
>>736335872Roguelike means turn based. This is why you use roguelite.
>>736335314Zorbus is a pleasure to play. Probably my favorite roguelike to actually try to beat, no extra bullshit but a lot of extra effort put into the basic systems.>>736337408Does this have metaprogression? Didn't really catch from the reviews if it does.
I should go back and play more Achra.
Nethack is unironically one of the worst roguelikes ever made. It's a bloated mess with highly questionable design in some places. Try out the Shiren the Wanderer games. They are pretty good.
>>736339091I prefer the term "action roguelike" to describe games like Binding of Isaac and ROR2Anyway, on topic, I'm partial to For The King, ADOM and TOME
>>736340438pathetic troon trying to get attention because he lost
>>736340438Hey, I like NetHack.
Jupiter Hell since it's actually a strict Berlin roguelike.
>>736342214Jupiter Hell Classic is good too
too hard :(
>>736335314Crypt Of The NecrodancerNuclear Throne
>>736335314The the romhack Fire Emblem Illusory DungeonPokemon emerald rogue
>>736338692Set city size to 16 and distance between cities to 0. Now you have an infinite megacity dungeon full of food and loot.
>>736335314Shiren the WAnderer The Mysterydungeon of Serpent Coil Island
>>736338692For years now they've been continually fucking around in the main CDDA branch with adding tedious survival bullshit for the sake of 'realism'. Lots of people play the Bright Nights fork which split off from the retarded dev who keeps adding all that bullshit, and it stripped back a lot of that garbage.
Is DoomRL any good?
>>736345357You know what made me jump to BN? It wasn't the vitamins or weight management or skill training. It was the stupid pocket system. I got tired of having to expand random containers in my inventory to find the bullets I picked up, and I didn't feel like trying to figure out how to make it stop sprinkling my items into the cardboard boxes I'm holding my alcohol wipes in.
>>736345838>It was the stupid pocket system.I don't know what it is about a perfectly good abstraction like an Inventory that draws people to unabstract it. Some amount of unabstraction can service the gameplay (like hand management or survival elements) but some devs just love finicky bullshit that's not any fun for anybody but themselves.
>>736335834Because the games he listed aren't 40 years old and boomers will never admit that the first examples of a genre aren't the best.
TBoI is the only roguelike I'm spending hundreds of hours on and IwWish I could find more roguelikes like thatHaven't found any other roguelike where runs are so unique that I feel compelled to keep playing endlessly, mewgenics is looking pretty neat tooenter the gungeon was fun but it's very limited compared to isaac so after beating the final boss I'm done with ittried risk of rain 2 but the lack of random maps, and most items just being number alterations make it repetitive and boringcrypt of the necrodancer is fun but it's also the kind of game where you beat the final boss and drop itreturnal is surprisingly nice, haven't played much yet but it looks promisingbriefly tried to get into spelunky but every run plays exactly the same, don't know if it gets better dead cells has repetitive gameplay and the balancing sucks, you're meant to lose and grind upgrades to be actually able to beat a runhades is okay but nothing specialnoita is fun but hard to get into, I'll play more of it eventually
