Completely changes the experience and forces you to know and use each character. Don't even play the game, just see how far you can go till your main dies.

And the orc uprising pretty much destroys the gnomish empire (they own tarant and caladon). It's why Caladon makes you public enemy number one after causing the orc riots despite not suffering directly from the uprising because they aren't heavily industrial like Tarant so they don't need orcs as much.
