Yes I know this is the superstation one, but this fpga console is going to get an add on that can play physical discs. Is it worth buying a mister fpga or a console that uses the fpga like the superstation one or just stick with emulating? Is "accurate" console emulation really worth it for like 200 dollars when you can pirate games for free on your computer?
If you have to ask, then you already know the answer.
>>736342920What is even the purpose or benefit of a hardware emulator when you can just buy the actual original hardware? Do these things output at higher resolutions with shaders and save states and other emulation perks you commonly find on software emulators, or are they just 1:1 hardware copies? If you just get all the perks of software emulation with none of the input lag or inaccuracy problems, I could see why they might be worth buying.
>>736342920I honestly don't see where ps1 emulation is so bad this would be necessary.About maybe 5 years ago, I tried playing some games on a 14'' CRT TV with my old PS1 and the "input lag" and inaccuracies for most games worth playing there between that and emulating it through beetle PSX (non-hardware) on my high refresh rate monitor were imperceptible really.I think the main issue is that people don't want to put enough effort to use more accurate emulators or find the right settings.I can maybe understand it for N64 (though I'm not sure I would even go that far, a lot of those are getting recompiled) but I think PS1 is a platform that could only benefit from emulation
>>736344112I'm not retarded enough to ever buy one since I have a PC that does it for free, but these make sense over original hardware since they're still being produced and there's no risk they'll just randomly shit themselves in 3 years. Might be cheaper too in some cases since they're not limited.
>>736342920>this fpga console is going to get an add on that can play physical discsWhy would you want to do that. I modded all of my disc based retro consoles to play roms.Only using original hardware + a CRT is worth it to me, otherwise I'd just emulate on pc.
