It's cool how this game weaves the typical questing format of RPGs into the narrative, with how almost every major quest giver is basically using you as a pawn in their own game. If you're uncritically playing follow the leader like you would any other RPG then you get fucked. However if you pay attention you can start to use people to your own advantage and survive the den of vipers.

That's basically what Deus Ex did

Any examples of this? For someone who didn't play the game.

Do you have any idea how insignificant you are?

Nah I figured out you're full of bullshit now.
>>
>>736349651
Okay don’t play it, deprive yourself out of spite.
>>
>>736349725
I gave you a chance to sell it to me and you refused it, what else do you want from me bro?
I'm not "depriving myself out of spite", I'm not even gonna remember this game's name, I'll continue my day as if this conversation never happened. Maybe another day I'll come across a better thread with a better OP who will actually answer my question, and maybe I'll pick it up then. That day is not today apparently, and until then I have other games to play that vie for my attention, so cheers mate.

OP already gave you a taste of what the game does you are asking him to actively spoil shit for you. And when he didn’t you decided to act like a spiteful child who didn’t get his way and has to say he doesn’t want it now. And now that that has been acknowledged you have to pretend you don’t care to cope. You want answers? Play the game.

This is an imageboard, we're not here to sell you on games bitch boy.

Yeah every shill will tell you his game is the best thing since buttered bread. That's why I wanted to see a concrete example.
If I don't mind spoilers and I'm deliberately asking to be spoiled, what's the issue here?
I don't care about the game enough to play it from its description, but if you elaborate on the point made I might be curious enough to try it. There was no tantrum, you just took offense and got triggered by me calling OP's claims "bullshit". You're projecting your own emotions.
>>736350201
Yeah that's exactly the point. This isn't a storefront, you're not some shill selling a game based on some buzzwords and vague promises (right?) that's why I want you to actually discuss the game with me, player to potential player. If you can't even do that, then don't be surprised your thread dies in 2 posts. (When I decided to pity bump it off page 10 with a question trying to stir discussion.) New blood won't pick your game up when the fanbase is so hostile. The only reason I picked up some completely unapproachable looking games like Nier or Planescape Torment (which I absolutely loved afterwards) was because the fanbase was actually willing to discuss with me what makes the game special. Even using spoiler tags when appropriate.

But I think I've seen enough, here's my last post and bump, hope your thread goes well OP.

If my quest giver has huge boobs I do her quests. Don't like the Kue jin. Not racis', just don't like them orientals. Simple as

Alright since everyone’s being a retard about it I’ll actually answer you.

Early on you’ve got the Prince handing you jobs like you’re his errand ghoul. If you just “yes my lord” your way through the whole thing you’re basically consolidating his power for free. But you can leak info to the Anarchs, play both sides for rewards, or straight up undermine certain outcomes so nobody fully trusts the other. You’re not locked into being anyone’s loyal dog unless you choose to be.

There’s also smaller stuff, like how a lot of side quests have hidden leverage baked in. Dirt on people, blackmail material, knowing who’s scraping by and who’s protected. You can finish a quest the “intended” way… or you can complete the objective while screwing over the quest giver and setting yourself up better long term. Sometimes the real reward isn’t the XP, it’s the position you end up in politically.

The game never pops up a big MORAL CHOICE window for half of this either. It just tracks who you’ve pissed off and who thinks you’re useful. By the end you realize basically everyone tried to use you, and depending on how much you were paying attention, you either become someone’s pawn… or someone nobody can fully control.

That’s the appeal OP was getting at. It’s less “go kill 10 rats” and more “figure out why they want the rats dead in the first place.”
