It's lacking in content and character interactions, the dialogue and characterization of the island residents is dull, and as far as I've seen, all the major content updates so far have been paid DLC.It can get very grindy with no meaningful progress for multiple IRL days. It gets to the point where once a day you just do your mundane and repetitive dailies, give gifts to the island residents, collect resources, then quit, which takes about 30 minutes. After ~130 hours I realized I was just wasting 30 minutes of my life every day in a daily simulator.However, it's been almost a year since I stopped playing, and there have been three free content updates since, so it may or may not be less barren now. I wouldn't recommend it, though.
